Closing Structure week is Fire King Avatar Kirin.  Level 3, Fire, 1000 attack and 200 defense, we're not winning many contests here, and we have a Beast this time, which makes sense.  If a face-up Fire King Monster you control is destroyed, minus the Damage Step, you can Special Summon this card from your Hand.  Special Summoning is still a good thing.  And we still are dependent on a card effect, although either player can do so, as seems to be the theme.  Secondly, if destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, no restriction as to how this time, you can send a Fire Monster from your Deck to your Graveyard.  That may not seem like all that great an effect, but it doesn't hurt.  It gives you more options, and can lead to other combos, or even simply a Special Summon.

The last Fire King card that we have to review is Fire King Avatar Kirin. The first effect of the Fire King monsters to special summon themselves from the hand is not an effect that will be used very often. The main purpose of Kirin is to get your boss monsters like Fire King High Avatar Garunix, Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys, and Manticore of Darkness. With Manticore of Darkness, you will get its effect so special summon it in the end phase. Once you have your monster in the graveyard, you can then bring it to the field with Circle of the Fire Kings, Call of the Haunted, or Monster Reborn.

The nice thing about Fire King Avatar Kirin is that it only has to be destroyed and sent to the grave to get it’s effect, so if you Solemn Warning or destroy it in your hand, you will still get its effect. Fire King Beast Yaksha will be very helpful in getting Kirin’s effect, along with Sacred Phoenix, Manticore, and Garunix while in your hand. With Foolish Burial at one per deck, Avatar Kirin essentially gives you 4 Foolish Burials. With Kirin loading your graveyard and Onslaught of the Fire Kings summing directly from your deck, it is easy to search out your boss monsters and wreak havoc on your opponent.

I do not know if anyone has discussed this yet, but there is a nice little loop that you can easily use to destroy all of the monsters on the field each and every turn. All you need is a Fire King High Avatar Garunix on the field and in the graveyard with circle of the Fire Kings in hand. That may sound difficult, but the deck is design to get your powerful Garunix in the grave and onto the field, so it is really a very easy thing to do. First use Fire King Avatar Kirin, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, or Foolish Burial to get Garunix in the graveyard. Then use Onslaught of the Fire Kings or use the effect of Fire King Avatar Barong to search for Onslaught, to bring out another Garunix. Then attack with the first Fire King, activate Circle of the Fire Kings to summon the other Garunix and attack again. Then on each standby phase, the Garunix in your grave will be special summoned to blow-up the field leaving you with a big 2700 attack monster and an open field. Any card you do not have for the loop, you can search for with Fire King Avatar Barong or get a Barong with Fire Formation – Tenki.

Fire Kings can definitely make a big splash in the game and it will be the support cards like Fire King Avatar Kirin that will make it consistent enough to be top tier.

Fire King Avatar Kirin is the third (of currently three) Fire King Monsters released as part of the newest Structure Deck Onslaught of the Fire Kings.  Fire King Avatar Kirin has two effects like the rest of his archetype, but unlike Fire King Avatar Barong only 1 effect requires Fire Kings. His first effect is the same as Fire King Avatar Barong and suffers from the same problem as the other Fire Kings. His second effect is better allowing you to dump any FIRE monster into your grave. This can be a hand effect especially if combined with cards like Circle of the Fire Kings. Also he again only has 200 DEF so Rekindling is an option with this card as well.

Overall while his stats aren’t as good as Fire King Avatar Barong his second non Fire King effect makes him a little more playable.
