Is Diamond Dire Wolf the BEST card out of Cosmo
Blazer? Perhaps, it's certainly the best card for
an Archtype, that being Fire Fist. We have a Rank 4
XYZ Monster, XYZ Summoned with two Level 4 Monsters.
This is an Earth Monster, who is sort of weak, with
only 2000 attack and 1200 defense. You can, once
per turn, detach an XYZ Material from Diamond Dire
Wolf to target a Beast, Beast-Warrior, or
Winged-Beast Monster and destroy it, along with one
other card on the Field.
Fire Fist works very fast, in bringing out not only
other Fire Fist Monsters, but Fire Formation Magic
and Trap cards too. Destroying Fire Fist Monsters
via this ability does help add to the power of the
Deck, making the Deck go even faster, at least in my
own opinion. This isn't just for Fire Fist, I'd say
Harpie, and any other Deck you can put together to
utilize playing any of the three Beast types of
Monsters. I just wish he had more attack.

Number one on our list for great cards from Cosmo
Blazer is Diamond Dire Wolf. Wolf has the Scrap
Dragon ability to destroy one of your Beast,
Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monsters and any
card your opponent controls. That includes
destroying itself, so in a pinch you could sacrifice
Wolf to get rid of your opponent’s big bad threat.
Diamond Dire Wolf combo’s well in a number of
decks like Scraps, Gusto, Fire Fist, Beast, Wind-Up,
and Fire King. It is the last two deck types that I
find a better fit for Diamond Dire Wolf. With
Wind-Up’s, we have the ability to summon level 4
monsters like mad with Wind-Up Magician and Shark.
With Wind-Up Rabbit, you have a target for Wolf on
every turn. The key to Dire Wolf is in the last
line; “Destroy them”. Since it does not say “Destroy
those targets”, it does not have to destroy Rabbit
to destroy your opponent’s card, so you can chain
Rabbit and remove it to use it again next turn.
In a Fire King deck, you can destroy Fire King
High Avatar Garunix and get Garunix’s field clearing
effect on your next turn. Fire Kings also like to
rise up from the ashes and do a lot of special
summoning. You could even try Flame Tiger in your
deck so each turn, instead of drawing, you can
special summon Flame Tiger and use it for Dire
Wolf’s effect.
In a Fire Fist deck, a good target is Brotherhood
of the Fire Fist – Raven. When you pop this card
with Diamond Dire Wolf, you get Raven’s effect to
set a Fire Formation card. If you set Fire Formation
– Tenki, you can activate it and get another Raven
to do it all again next turn. If you use a card like
Safe Zone to protect Dire Wolf, you can keep it on
the field longer as 2000 attack is not going to stop
many attacks.
We haven’t even mentioned the other decks, like
Beast decks using Green Baboon. With Two Baboons,
you can create an endless supply of Beasts to use
with Diamond Dire Wolf. The Cosmo Blazer block is
all about Beasts and Fire, so playing Diamond Dire
Wolf in the extra deck is a no brainer. It just
gives you more options.

“2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from
this card to target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or
Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other

This card is one I initially ignored until my
friend who owns the shop I play at pointed out that
he functions in a very similar fashion as scrap
dragon. So, with that in mind I tested him. He
earned a permanent spot in my extra deck.
He is the new extra deck staple. It is much
easier to bring him out than scrap dragon, and for
most decks he has a similar effect. He works in
almost anything and has no specific requirements for
materials. That kind of spot removal even at a
potential -2 (You take a -1 to make him, then a -1
by destroying himself if you don’t have another
target) is the kind of option you should keep
shelved for a rainy day. It can get you out of a
pickle. Aside from that I am honestly at a loss for
what to say about him, he is just too good.
Overall: Play him if you have him.

Welcome to the review one of my favorite cards
from Cosmo Blazer. It is such an amazing card that I
didn’t even realize it was in this set. I completely
looked over this card and saw it as a useless -1 in
terms of card advantage. I’m happy to tell you that
this card is much better than it may look!!

ATK/2000 DEF/1200
Okay now you might be wondering why this card made
it to #1 on this list. There are really a couple of
reasons as to why this monster is such good card.
Reason #1
This monster can be made using any two level 4
monsters. This makes it very versatile so that it
can be used in many different decks. It probably
isn’t a staple rank 4 Xyz monster like Utopia or
Maestroke, but it’s still nice to use in some decks.
Reason #2
This dog can be used to gain card advantage when
used with some decks such as Crystal Beasts, T. G.,
Heraldic Beasts, and Fire Kings. It can be used
effectively in each of these decks. You can also use
this wolf in decks like Scraps, Blackwings, and even
Harpie decks. I’m not suggesting that this card
should be used in all of these decks but it still is
a nice option to include in your extra deck if you
have space for it.
Advanced: 4.5/5
- The only thing I don’t like about this card is
that it only has 2000 attack and 1200 defense. That
seems to be the only downside to it. If it had
higher stats I would give this monster a perfect
score. It is a very good card that should be used in
decks that can use it to its full potential.
Traditional: 2.5/5
-I’m not sure how this card would do in the
traditional format. This card can be a quick was to
destroy other cards, but I don’t think it is that
great here.
Art: 3.5/5
-This monster looks cool but the art doesn’t look
amazing to me. I think this card could have looked
amazing but this wolf’s paws and the diamond spikes
coming off of it just don’t look very cool. This art
does remind me a bit of Judgment Dragon’s art which
is still a good thing.

Today's Card of the Day Review happens to be the
#1 card on the Pojo's Top 10 Cosmo Blazer cards of
the set, which happens to be Diamond Dire Wolf, the
Rank 4 Xyz Secret Rare.
While I did miss out on submitting my list for
the Top 10 Cosmo Blazer cards, I can't help but to
feel that this card is simply overrated and not as
deserving of this spot as other cards. Don't get me
wrong, it is indeed a good card while, in some
cases, can easily be a great card. I just don't see
the card being as much of a staple as other generic
Rank 4 options out there.
You are wondering why I have this opinion. Just
read further and I will explain as best I can. First
of all, let's see this card effect.
"Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material
from this card to target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or
Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other
card on the field; destroy them."
It's a pretty simple effect that mirrors an older
former staple card that has received a recent
reprint a few months ago: Scrap Dragon.
Fortunately, these 2 cards are different enough
that it is best not to compare them.
First of all, despite what the text may hint at,
this is a generic Rank 4 Xyz. Simply overlay 2 Level
4 monsters to bring this wolf out to play. Its
effect shows that you can detach 1 Xyz Material to
target any card with "Beast" in its Type and destroy
both that card and one other card on the field.
This card is obviously good for any decks that
focus on these types. This card can make an old
former tournament staple come back to the field,
namely yours truly, Green Baboon, Defender of the
Forest, thanks to its effect so it is a great boost
to any Beast decks out there. One example is
Nordics. It is also a solid weapon to problem cards
like Dimensional Fissure and Macro Cosmos for decks
such as Blackwings and, in the near future, Harpies.
Lastly, this can be of benefit to decks such as
Koa'ki Meiru (due to Urnight and Crusader) and Fire
Fists. Any decks that can generate +1s out of no
where would no doubt love Diamond Dire Wolf.
This is why it is seeing play even in Rescue
Rabbit based builds.
Secondly, you can simply target itself and one
card on the field and dispatch it, giving you a
one-shot dagger to any issues on the field or you
simply need to clear out a threat before going for
game.
Unfortunately, while it is technically easier to
drop this, it does come with weaknesses. Most
notably, its ATK. This card only packs 2000 ATK,
making it Cyber Dragon food if left unprotected.
However, this can be covered due to the Trap Card,
Horn of the Phantom Beast, making it 2800 ATK and
giving you a free draw per monster destroyed via
battle, making it a far more dire threat.
Lastly, the main reason why I feel this card is
merely a cop-out is that, while I love the
flexibility of this card, I can't help but to feel
that, if you are dropping this card to get rid of a
certain card multiple times, you need to focus more
Side Deck hate to it. Diamond Dire Wolf is supposed
to be your 1 Extra Deck option to deal with cards
that you can't game play for. If you are forced to
drop this against a card that is clearly too much of
a threat to deal with, it needs to be accounted for
via your Side Deck. Just keep this in mind as you
play test.
Diamond Dire Wolf is your emergency or insurance
card, not your 16th Side Deck card. Keep that in
mind.
All-in-all, while I wouldn't put this card as the
top card of the set, it is definitely a very good
card that will be fighting for Extra Deck space as
we continue to get more good Rank 4 Xyz. If you have
one, it is recommended to pack it as you don't know
when destroying that one card will give you a
victory.
Advanced Format: 4/5 (While overrated to some
degree, it does deserve its $30 price tag. To much
decks, it is a one-of staple.)
Traditional Format: 2/5 (Too many quicker and more
devastating ways to deal with problem cards to make
room for this.)

Diamond Dire Wolf
Earth/ Beast/Xyz/Effect/Rank 4/2000/1200
2 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from
this card to target 1 Beast, Beast-Warrior, or
Winged Beast-Type monster you control and 1 other
card on the field; destroy them.
And the number 1 card from Cosmo Blazer is Diamond
Dire Wolf! Diamond Dire Wolf wants to be the new
Scrap Dragon with a similar effect. However unlike
Scrap Dragon, Diamond Dire Wolf has 800 less ATK,
and crucially his effect has a cost and condition.
The cost isn’t big it’s the usual “detach 1 Xyz
Material” cost that most Xyz monsters have. However
the condition is the kicker you have to destroy 1
Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Winged Beast-Type monster
you control, unlike Scrap Dragon which allowed you
to target any card you control, luckily like Scrap
Dragon Diamond Dire Wolf can target himself if
needed. So he isn’t as splashable as Scrap Dragon,
but still powerful in the right deck. Sadly
his biggest let-down is his stats, they just are
high enough so this guy is easily vunerable to a
counter attack.
Overall a solid card but could have been a better
beast if he can a bit more bite.
