Brotherhood of the Fire Fist-Bear, is nearly identical to yesterdays card.  There are only two differences of note here, the 1200 defense, as opposed to 1000, while both have a decent 1600 attack.  Secondly, the first effect as to get a Fire Formation Magic/Trap card is the same, via destroying an opponent's Monster and sending it to the Graveyard.  But you get a slightly different, balanced, 1-for-1 in this instance.  Yesterday you could send a face-up Fire Formation Magic/Trap card to your Graveyard to select and target a Magic or Trap card on the Field and destroy it.  Here, you can select and target a Monster on the Field, and destroy it.  Bear is slightly better than his Gorilla counterpart, simply for that, and the fact we're in a Magic/Trap heavy destruction Format at present.

Today’s card is much like yesterday’s card except you can destroy monsters instead of spells/traps. Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear only needs to inflict battle damage to get its effect to search for a Fire Formation card. 1600 attack is not much so you will have to combine it with Fire Formation cards, Horn of the Phantom Beast, and other attack modifiers in order to attack over your opponent’s monsters. The nice thing about Bear is that if you already have a Fire Formation card, you can use it to destroy your opponent’s monster and then attack directly to get another Fire Formation card.

The nice thing about Fire Formation cards is that they work with Beast-Warrior monsters, so you can use other themes along side the Brotherhood monsters like T.G. and Reborn Tengu. By using Bear and Gorilla to clear your opponent’s field and search for Fire Formation cards, you clear the way for more powerful Beast Warrior monsters.

So today we have the real backbone of the new Brotherhood of the Fire Fist archetype:
“Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear”

“Once per turn, when this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.”

This guy is the backbone that makes this deck so scary. Like a lot of his brethren, you’re probably never going to use his first effect unless you’re playing against Mermails or you have an attack boost handy, but his second effect cuts like a dagger. I see this as a possible format defining card. While it is a VERY powerful card, Konami also balanced it pretty well by giving him a low enough attack that anything from “Jurrac Guaiba” (In rabbits) to “Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress” (in dragons) can stomp over him next turn.

In FireFist decks he is going to be run mostly at 3, however 2 could also be an option in a hybrid build that is running “Call of the Haunted”. You should probably also run 2-3 “Horn of the phantom beast” so you can keep the party going.

So all in all, he is a very solid card that adds solid tier 1 playability to the FireFist archetype. Expect to play against a good few of these decks, and make sure you side a couple extra “Dust Tornado”!

Advanced: 5/5 in a FireFist deck
Traditional: 1/5 Still way too much removal in traditional to consistently play this successfully.
Art: 4/5 In my opinion this card has the best art of the new cards. However, I also love bears. (Rawr!)

First of all, today is my birthday; and I could not be more excited to review one of the best Fire-Fist cards and the one that inspired one of my favorite decks T.G. Fire Fist Stun; so let’s take a look at today’s card:

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear
Lv4, Fire, Beast Warrior
Once per turn, when this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.

If you read yesterday’s review, then you can see how similar these two cards are to each other. While Gorilla destroys spells and traps, Bear takes out Monsters. In addition, they both bring out a spell from the deck to the field.
Let’s take a look at each effect:

1)      1) Once per turn, when this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck.

This effect should be easy to get off as you should be destroying one of their monsters, and allowing you access at their life points! Their fire formations are quite formidable, being either a Reinforcement of the army for beast-warriors or a continuous double summons (Tenki and Tensu). Being able to search these out in one monster is quite impressive.

2)      2) Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.

Monster destruction is what defines a deck theme. If a deck isn’t able to get threats off the opponent’s board; then you won’t be able to get to their life points (unless you play burn of course…). Bear gets rid of threats, at the simple cost of one of your Fire Formations; which isn’t a big cost as you should be running about 6-8 or so right now in a pure build, or about 3-5 in a stun build (my build of choice right now).

Really, since this guy and Gorilla are extremely similar, it is best to just read my review from yesterday, and apply it here. You won’t find many differences between the two to be quite honest! Haha.

Advanced: 4.25

This monster RUNS the Fire-Fist deck currently, and is amazing in its own deck. I will say the lower attack is a bit lacking; but you should be having it around 1900-2100 with your spells and traps anyways. It’s an amazing card and should be rated high.

Traditional: 2.0
Same reasons as Gorilla…. It isn’t a Dark or Light monster; and there are plenty of better options for monster removal in Traditional.

Art Work: 4.5

Once again… I love the design of these cards! Plus, it’s one of my favorites! So glad I was able to review him today! :D

Tomorrow’s card: The King of the Jungle!... Or stars…. Or ummm…. Wherever they live exactly?

Hi, this is my first card review so let me introduce myself.  I’ve been playing Yugioh since the game was created.  I’ve actually been playing it competitively for about three years now.  I’m normally a rogue player that enjoys playing decks that are unique and innovative.   I feel honored that I have the opportunity to write these reviews for the rest of the Yugioh community.

Now let’s get to the card review!

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear
Attribute-Fire
Types-Beast-warrior/Effect
ATK/1600
DEF/1200

Once per turn, when this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.

The Brotherhood of the Fire Fist- Bear is easily one of the best monsters in the Fire Fist archetype.  It is a monster with solid attack points that just becomes stronger with the boosts from the fire formation spells and traps.

What makes this card so great is that Bear is a great way to combat cards like Tragoedia and Gorz.  Its first effect lets you set a fire formation card spell from your deck just by inflicting battle damage to your opponent.  The second effect lets you send a fire formation card to the grave to destroy an opponent’s monster. So essentially, you can inflict battle damage and then use the spell card you just set with this card’s effect to destroy a monster in main phase 2.  That sounds pretty good in terms of card advantage because Bear can be a potential +2 if used with Fire Formation-Tenki.

Advanced: 4.25/5

-Bear is a great card that should probably be run in multiples in most Fire Fist decks.  It has a lot of potential that really helps make this archetype as destructive as it is.

Traditional: 2/5

-It’s a good card but it’s not dark, light, and it’s not too impressive on its own.

Art:4.5/5

The fire fist monsters have very cool looking art designs and just look amazing with the flaming animal spirits behind the warriors.

Shadowlaw

Hey pojo viewers Shadowlaw here with a review for you.  Today is my first review and I'm really excited that the card picked is one of the bid money cards from Cosmo Blazer: Brotherhood of the Fire Fist Bear.  So let's channel our inner grizzly man and get on with it.  Bear's first ability is to set a fire formation spell card in your spell/trap zone whenever he inflicts damage, and my guess is at 1600 attack that will be by direct attack only.  The second effect however is the money one.  Whenever you have a spent fire formation spell or trap card on the field you can send it to grave and target then destroy an opponents monster.  Not only does that let you break even or even plus off an already spent card, but in addition bear will then more likely be poised to hit directly thus continuing the cycle.  Overall I think this is a great card, and if you're running fire fist you better be ready to shell out for three copies.

DKMagician
Girl

Hello everyone. I'm DKMagicianGirl of Pojo.com which I trade and play within the general area of Jacksonville FL and I do specialize in using cards and playing decks that is underused and underrated. I have been a part of this game for almost a decade and, as my user name implies, I'm a huge Dark Magician Girl collector and have a soft spot for Spellcasters, in which two of my more favorite archetypes is Fortune Ladies and Prophecy. My first name is Andrew and you can find me on the Pojo forums trading, sharing information, and perhaps get into an argument or two over the course of a week there. Despite this, I'm friendly to all who is willing to show even a little respect. If you wish to ask me about anything concerning the game, just PM me on the Pojo forums under this name and I will be glad to help.
With that said, let's get to today's review: Brotherhood of the Fire Fist - Bear.

This card is clearly one of the better Fire Fists of the set. It is searchable by Fire Formation - Tenki and as long as Tenki is face-up on the field, it goes up to 1700 ATK, which is respectable. However, it's the card effects that makes it worthy of its Ultra Rare status. The second effects allows you to pitch a face-up Fire Formation on the field to the graveyard. Considering that Tenki can searched out Bear, giving you a +1 in card advantage, you can turn the Tenki into free monster destruction. With a monster cleared out, you have an excellent chance of hitting for Life Point damage, in which if you do, you get another Fire Formation spell from your deck straight to the field, which is a +1.

Unfortunately, since Tenki can only be activated once per turn, if you search for another one, it has to remain face-down until your next turn but if it survives, you got another search just sitting there waiting for you.....and another use of free monster destruction. If you search for Tensu, you can activate it, Special Summon another Fire Fist, and go into a Rank 4 Xyz with less card loss, in which one of the best choices available happens to be Tiger King, a card that we will be covering in greater detail tomorrow so stay tuned for it.

All-in-all, this card generate free card advantage, searching power, swarming, consistency, and monster destruction all in one card. It's ATK is a bit low but considering what he brings to the table, the so-so ATK is a minor issue. It is a really good card and a sure-fire staple at 3 for anyone who wants to play the deck so if you want to play Fire Fists, start hunting for the Bear.

For Traditional format, unfortunately the deck is a bit slow and doesn't have enough broken tricks to hang tough in that speedy environment. However, if you want to give the archetype a shot at that format, I have little reason otherwise to think that you won't need a playset of this card as it is one of the most flexible cards the archetype can offer.

Advanced Format: 4.5/5
Traditional Format: 3/5

Brotherhood of the Fire Fist – Bear
Fire/Beast-Warrior/Effect/LV4/1600/1200
Once per turn, when this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent: You can Set 1 "Fire Formation" Spell Card directly from your Deck. Once per turn: You can send 1 face-up "Fire Formation" Spell/Trap Card you control to the Graveyard to target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.

BOTFF – Bear is very similar to yesterday’s BOTFF – Gorilla, both have similar stats, though Bear has an extra 200 DEF, and Gorilla destroys spells/traps and Bear destroys monsters. Like Gorilla, Bear needs to battle in order to get his “when X happens, get a Fire Formation card” effect, but this time all he has to do is damage the opponent’s life points. Sadly the same problem of Gorilla’s effect applies to Bear. Yes you can give boast his ATK but 1600 ATK isn’t great for this type of effect.

Bear’s second effect is again similar to Gorilla’s but this time you lose your Spell and Trap Card to destroy a monster. This is better that Gorilla’s effect as not only does this get rid of one of your opponent’s monster (or one of your own, for some reason you want to destroy your own monster), it actually can help Bear get off his first effect by giving him the chance to attack directly.

Overall Bear is better than Gorilla but only due to slightly better effects.  His lackluster stats do stop him from being 100% essential.

Traditional: 3/5
Advanced:  3.5/5
