There are Spellcasters and Spellcaster support that didn't make this list that should have, and there are some that shouldn't have that did.  Today is the latter.  Slacker Magician is a Rank 1 XYZ Monster, a Light attributed Spellcaster, with 200 attack and 2100 defense, who is XYZ Summoned with two Level 1 Monsters.  She should be Rank 2, as it would be easier to XYZ Summon, regardless of your Spellcaster build (two Old Vindictive Magicians?)

Slacker Magician is a decent slacker, if nothing else, as her name suggests.  First, once per turn, she isn't destroyed by Battle.  A good thing, but forces your opponent to destroy her via Magic/Trap card, and/or Monster Effect instead of wasting two attacks.  The 2100 defense does come in handy, as the 200 defense is essentially a liability, if only to ignore Rank 1 there for a moment.  Furthermore, she does have some protection, personally...

Once per turn, by discarding an XYZ Material, if targeted (note targeted) while face-up, by an effect OR a card, said effect is negated, and if you are successful in negating said effect/card, the card in question is destroyed. That's welcome, but if you weren't successful, either this card is destroyed, or you're down an XYZ Material, and likely the prior in this instance.  She isn't bad, but I don't see her being good enough to warrant much play.

Number 9 on our list has to have one of the funniest names for a Yu-Gi-Oh card ever, Slacker Magician. A Rank 1 LIGHT/Spellcaster type Xyz monster. With 200/2100 ATK and DEF, and needs 2 level 1 monsters to Xyz summon. Once per turn, Slacker Magician can't be destroyed by battle, but with 2100 DEF, that's gonna take some work to get over that wall. During either player's turn, when a card or some kind of effect is activated and targets this face up card, you can detach an Xyz material from this card to negate that activation, if you do destroy that card. Slacker works well with Xyz Tribalrivals and Overlay Regen as well. It's kinda hard to see a deck that can really fit this card, as not many decks run a certian number of level 1 monsters, except maybe decks with Mystic Piper/Piper Chaos. Slacker Magician is one hard card to get around and great at stalling.

Hey guys welcome back to our Top 10 cards for Cosmo Blazer! This next card is my personal favorite and one the only cards that I really wanted in this set- Slacker Magician!

Light/ Spellcaster/ Rank 1/ 100 ATK/ 2100 DEF

2 Level 1 monsters

“Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.”

Finally, I’ve been waiting for a Rank 1 XYZ that requires less than 3 xyz material monsters. Decks that can easily make this cards are Mystic Piper Decks and Monarchs because of Battle Faders and Treeborn Frogs!

Let’s break down the effect:

A)     It can’t be destroyed by battle once per turn.

-          This can provide a good wall for a few turns and being able to absorb a single attack makes this card that much better.

B)      Detach 1 xyz material to negate and destroy the effect of a card that targets this card.

-          A lot of cards in this format target: Black Luster Soldier, Dimensional Prison, Compulsory Evacuation Device,  etc.

-          Having this ability also could preserve it’s longevity as well.

The only real thing that this card has going for itself is that it can absorb one attack and destroy anything that targets it. It’s defense is decent. Anything under an xyz/sychro/lv5 monster can’t really do much to it.

Pros: Good Effects and easy to make.

Cons: Low attack and decent defense.

Welcome to the second day of Pojo’s top 10 countdown of the best cards from Cosmo Blazar! Today we will be talking about Slacker Magician, our very first rank 1 two material monster!

Slacker Magician
Light, Rank 1, Spellcaster

2 Level 1 monsters
Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

200/2100

A very interesting monster we have here. First of all, I have to say that out of all the rank 1 monsters that we currently have, this is by far the best one; simply because it only requires 2 monsters to summon it. This can easily be done by Using Kinka-Byo and revive a monster, or by blocking an attack with Battle Fader and then summoning a level 1 monster the next turn. This card is great for decks like Piper and Lavals(if you have no options, block an attack with fader after drawing off of Card-Car and normal tender the next turn).

So, we can see that it’s the easiest rank 1 to summon, but why do we want to summon it? Well; it basically acts like a Gachi Gachi or Zenmaines as a tool to stall.

It avoids being killed by battle once per turn, and it has a good sized defense to get over as well; with 2100. Basically you will have to synchro/xyz/tribute summon twice to get over the monster. Furthermore you can protect it from targeting effects twice. So, no Veiler, Fiendish Chain, Breakthrough Skill, Raigeki Break, or other cards that would attempt to target it.

Sadly though, many cards in the current game don’t target, or at least the ones that slacker magician would care about. Torrential, Dark Hole, and Warning can still hurt her… though really; who is going to play Warning on Slacker Magician?

In general, this card is great for making rank 1’s and providing a good stall technique; however that’s about all the card can do. It’s great for what it does, but it isn’t amazing since it doesn’t have that extra sting like Gachi, Zenmaines, or Masetroke have.

Advanced: 3.5

It’s great in the decks that summon it! However, you shouldn’t go out of your way to try and fit it in

Traditional 1.5

Summon it with Thousand Eyes Restrict!!...... ya no. Better options here.

Ever seen XYZ Pillow Fight? It’s cute, I’ll give it that. Not bad art at all.

Obskera

Continuing our countdown this week at #9 we have “Slacker Magician”

“Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.”

I REALLY want like this card, but until it finds its own niche, it will most likely remain in casual decks. It has solid enough base stats for a rank 1 XYZ, two awesome effects, and gives you a use for any random level ones you have floating around. That coupled with the fact that it‘s a light spellcaster open a veritable cornucopia of possible strategies to run her. Frogs, fish, and many other casual decks all appreciate an extra hand in maintaining a solid field presence and fishborg-beat in general has badly needed something like this to help maintain field presence. They now have a use for the field of level 1’s they generate, aside from just tribute summoning, or making one of the handful of rather dull level 5 water synchro monsters currently available. And, like yesterday’s card, she can also benefit from “Honest”.

Overall this is a card with solid potential and probably the best rank 1 to run if you find yourself with an abundance of level 1 monsters hitting the field. I don’t really see it being run outside of a casual deck at the moment, but we all know frogs have already made one YCS top, and who knows maybe after the next ban list they might get the last nudge they need to break top tier status again.

Will this card be responsible for that? Who’s to say? But I think this is a card to keep in mind moving forward as she has solid potential.

Advanced: 3/5
Traditional: 2/5 (It combos well with “Sinister Serpent” but not a lot of cards target in this format)
Art: 4/5 I like the anime style they put on this card, but she still looks so sad.

Shadowlaw

What up fellow yugioh fans shadowlaw bringing another review to you.  So kick back, put your feet up and get ready for a review of Slacker Magician.  So let's see what this girl can do.  We have a rank 1 monster consisting of two level one monsters.  Not the hardest of requirements, though I'm thinking of tier 1 decks that run lvl ones.  Anyways this card is as easy to get out as using 2 lvl eaters.  So we get for our troubles a spellcaster (good support) with a whopping 200 atk (woot) and a much more respectable 2100 def.  Along with that our lazy magician comes with a skill.  Whenever she's targeted you can detach a material and negate then destroy whatever is targeting her.  Now I really like that effect.  It's great protection and it stops repeat and even one off effects.  This is really just a above average stall card.  The problem is your opponent is likely to know that and as such won't be targeting your magician for anything.  The other effect is that once per turn it can't be destroyed by battle which is equally great.  Now we already have one of the best turtle cards of all time in zenmaines so which is superior?  I think that depends on the deck you run but if your looking for a great stall card and have the ability to make this easier than zenmaines then go for it you won't be upset with it's superior stall.

Ratings:
Traditional: 2/5 Hey it's light
Advanced: 3/5 better in decks that spam lvl ones (I'm looking at you synchrons)
Art: 3.5/5 hey alchemic magicians need a break too sometimes.

Okay today we have a card that was on my personal top ten list for Cosmo Blazer. I like this card because it’s good and also because I LOVE WOMEN!!! Now this card comes in at number 9 on this list and it is a card that some people have been wanting to be released for a while now.  Here it is!

Slacker Magician
Attribute: Light
Type: Spellcaster/Xyz/Effect
Rank 1

2 Level 1 monsters
Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card

ATK/200
DEF/2100

This card is one of those cards that may not seem so special at first glance.  It has weak attack points at 200 and has a good defense power of 2100.  It also can’t be destroyed very easily which is decent.  What makes this card so good right now is that it is the first rank 1 xyz that has been released that requires only 2 level 1 monsters to make.  Each of the other rank 1 monsters need 3 level 1 monsters.

Many decks may not be able to play this card, but some decks like frogs, piper chaos, and even skull servants can really make good use of this card.  It is pretty easy to summon this monster and some decks may have a hard time going over this slacker.  It is also nice that this card has been released as a rare card so it will be pretty easy to get.

Advanced: 3/5

-In certain decks this card is really good, but it may be outclassed if other good rank 1 monsters get released.

Traditional: 2/5

-I can see this card as being a decent xyz in this format but I’m not quite sure.  It is a light monster and it can xyz with monsters like magician of faith and destiny hero disk commander.  I may be rating slacker magician too low here but I’m not quite sure.

Art: 3/5

This cards art is okay but nothing too special.  I’d say it’s average compared to other card art.

Leo
Kearon

Slacker Magician

Light/Spellcaster/Xyz/Effect/Rank 1/200/2100

2 Level 1 monsters

Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle. During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card.

Number 9 on the POJO top 10 from Cosmo Blazer is Slacker Magician; The first Rank 1 Xyz monster which only requires 2 materials instead of the usual 3. Slacker Magician’s effects are designed with one propose to protect itself. First is the Gyroid “you have to hit me twice in order to destroy me” effect plus a protection effect against targeting effects. Throw in 2100 DEF and this will be a tough Spellcaster to crack. So if you play a lot of level 1 monsters and you want a wall, this is the card for you.

Traditional: 4/5

Advanced: 3.5/5
