Today we look at one powerful XYZ Monster for a Wind
player in Lightning Chidori. Lightning Chidori is
Rank 4, and of the Wind attribute, with 1900 attack
and 1600 defense, both of which I'd consider low for
a Rank 4 Monster. Also notice that this Monster is
XYZ Summoned with two Level 4 Wind Monsters. A
really well put together Wind Deck, (ignoring either
Format, even considering Yata in Traditional) is
possible to achieve.
Obviously, although perhaps not the most
competitive, a Harpie Deck comes to mind. Wind
Monsters, as a whole, aren't the most easy to come
by Monsters in Yugioh sadly. Continuing on,
Lightning Chidori has two effects. First, when XYZ
Summoned, you target one card your opponent
controls, (no specification as to Monster, Magic,
Trap, or face-up/down) and said card returns to the
bottom of your opponent's Deck. There's some power,
and I can see that really disrupting your opponent's
strategy.
Secondly, by discarding an XYZ Material from
Lightning Chidori, you can target a card your
opponent controls, this time face-up, and return it
to the opponent's Deck. This time, the card goes to
the top of the Deck, as opposed to the bottom, but
that can still be a real hindrance to your opponent.
Sometimes recycling is as good, if not, better than,
destroying. It just depends on what you are able to
recycle. I can overlook the fairly low attack and
defense, but the two Wind Monsters for an XYZ Summon
really hurts.

Today’s card is Lightning Chidori. It is a Xyz
monster that is attribute specific in that it
requires two level 4 Wind monsters. Like the card we
reviewed yesterday, there aren’t many decks that can
use Chidori. We have Dragon, Gladiator Beast, Harpie,
Heraldic Beast, and Phantom Beast Plane decks that
can support Chidori currently. You could also build
a deck that is a hybrid with Wind in it like a Dark
Simorgh deck with Rescue Rabbit and Luster Dragon.
Of course we still have future sets that have yet to
be released. Sense the current sets are all being
released with an attribute theme, I would imagine
that we will see a Wind based set in the near
future.
Lightning Chidori has a pretty nifty plus two effect
to it that can dispose of a set card and a face up
card of your opponents. What is pretty nifty is that
the set card goes to the bottom and the face up card
to the top of the deck. This is probably do to the
fact that it is a Wind monster and Raiza the Storm
Monarch is a Wind and it bounces back to the deck.
In fact, it looks like a lot of Wind monsters like
to bounce things. FYI. Those abilities usually
result in an open field and a direct attack for 1900
life points. 1900 life points is not a lot and will
probably require a lot of protection to keep it
around for more than one turn. However, Lightning
Chidori would have already done its damage and
served its purpose.
There are a lot better Rank 4 monsters in the game
than Lightning Chidori and they are not attribute
dependant. Lightning Chidori just gives your Wind
decks another option for a given situation.

Welcome to another exciting episode of Pojo’s
Card of the Day! For our 7th card on the list, we
shall be covering another amazing card that has been
seeing a lot of hype due to the next set, let’s take
a look at Lightning Chidori!
Lightning Chidori
Rank 4, Wind, Thunder
2 Level 4 WIND monsters
When this card is Xyz Summoned: Target 1 Set card
your opponent controls; return that target to the
bottom of the Deck. Once per turn: You can detach 1
Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up card
your opponent controls; return that target to the
top of the Deck.
1900/1600
This card has quite a few perks to it about some of
the other xyz monsters we have! Let’s take a look at
the effect first before the other parts.
So when it’s xyz summoned; you can return a set card
your opponent controls to the bottom of the deck;
and then you can use its regular effect to return a
face-up card they control to the top of their deck.
So, for an xyz summon you get to spin two cards.
Spinning is the new destruction now a days as many
people want cards in their grave to re-use or abuse.
No one wants their cards returned back to the deck
really.
However… the only good thing about this card is the
effect. For a rank 4, 1900 is quite low. Maestroke
can get away with it due to having self-protection.
Then, Chidori has another issue of requiring two
wind-monsters, a very unpopular attribute in terms
of support. Luckily, the new Harpies in the next set
help to fix this! However, we will discuss this card
more in depth when those are released.
If you do want a card that can easily abuse this
card, I suggest looking into the Heraldic Beasts!
It’s pretty easy to summon when using Aberconway and
twin-headed eagle; and can be a +2 when summoned
when using Advanced Heraldry Art.
Advanced: 4
The card is simply amazing and has the potential to
be quite game-breaking once the new wind-cards are
released.
Traditional: 2.5
What wind-monsters would you run in Traditional? I
will give this card a bit higher rating as Harpies
COULD be decently played in Traditional as they have
ways of searching Feather Duster
Art: 4.5
Beautiful artwork. I would have to say one of the
best artworks out of this set.

Today we are going to look at card number 7 on our
Cosmo Blazer top ten list: “Lightning Chidori”
“2 Level 4 WIND monsters
When this card is Xyz Summoned: Target 1 Set card
your opponent controls; return that target to the
bottom of the Deck. Once per turn: You can detach 1
Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up card
your opponent controls; return that target to the
top of the Deck.”
I believe this card has a lot of hype (most of it is
well deserved). The first, and foremost, use of this
card is going to be in Harpy Lady (Harpy) decks.
With all the new support coming out for them, it
just makes Lightning Chidori (LC) even better.
And, along with giving harpies a new boss monster,
this card also gives anything that can spam level 4
wind monsters a solid advantage engine. Not to
mention that both Hysteric Party and Elegant Egotist
let you instantly summon him.
Outside of the Harpy deck there is a huge list of
ways to bring him out: Heraldic Beasts can use
Advanced Heraldry Art and Heraldic Beast Aberconway,
Heraldic Beast Berners Falcon, or Heraldic Beast
Twin-Headed Eagle. Gladiator beasts can bring him
out if you can get off Gladiator Beast Secutor's
effect. (You can use him to summon either Gladiator
Beast Bestiari or Gladiator Beast Equeste and Xyz
Summon this card using Secutor and that monster.)
You can also revive Secutor with Debris Dragon to
Xyz Summon this card. You can even use it in a
Rescue Rabbit deck that runs Harpies Brother or
Luster Dragon. Now summoning strategy aside, let’s
look closer at Him. LC is not going to win a game of
fisticuffs with most decks; however you’re not
really playing him for his attack. His effect is
where he really shines. Not only will he bounce any
set card to the bottom of the deck (Keeping it far
and away), once per turn you can detach a material
and spin (return to the top of the deck) 1 face up
card your opponent controls. Effects like this can
EASILY win games. Don’t want to hit mirror force?
Summon LC and give yourself a clear shot at the
life, or spin a set monster and not have to worry
about running over a Sangan or into Ryko.
So overall we have a solid XYZ monster with a killer
effect that gives a new breath to Harpy decks and
all sorts of other decks that have fallen to the
wayside. I really like when Konami releases cards
like this to revive interest in older, less played
archetypes and general give a booster shot to the
health of the game.

Shadowlaw
Hey pojo readers Shadowlaw back again for a card
review. Today we have lightning Chidori.
This guy is a rank 4 wind element (to be heavily
supported soon) thunder monster. It can only
be done by overlaying two lvl 4 wind monsters.
So on to stats, this guy isn't winning any awards
with steelswarm roach like numbers 1900 atk and 1600
def. But clearly this isn't an ultra rare
worth 14 a pop for nothing and that price is going
to go up once the next set comes out. Chidori
has two effects and both are great. First once
he's summoned you can take an opponents card and
send it to the bottom of the deck. That's
great get rid of a face down threat and rest assured
you won't see it again for a while. Then by
detaching a material it becomes a cost free back to
square one and sends a face up card to the top
of the deck. All in all if your opponent has
both targets and likely they will this is a 1900
plus one whenever you want it. Personally i
think this card is amazing and will be a major
reason why wind decks do well later this year.
Get ready to stare this little ball of thunder down
a lot.

Now we are going to
review Number 7 on the Cosmo Blazer List. Here we have another card that is just like
Yesterday’s Card of the Day.It isn’t too impressive at the moment but it
will probably be better in the future.
This is a card that isn’t too
great right now because there aren’t really any
great decks that can summon this card. You might be able use it in a mist valley
deck but that is about it.This card really becomes good when the new
harpie cards are released in The Lord of the Tachyon
Galaxy booster pack. They can summon this xyz quickly and make
good use of its effect.
I don’t think this card is the best card of
this set because of its low stats, but the fact that
you can
bounce a set card right off of this card’s summon is
pretty good. The set card even goes back to the bottom of
your opponent’s deck so you can bounce Rykos,
Snowman Eaters, and facedown spells or traps. This effect can win some games and save you
in many situations. What makes this card really good is its
effect that lets you bounce a face-up card on your
opponent’s side of the field back to the top of
their deck.I like this effect because you can use it on
monsters to make your opponent draw dead next turn. This effect reminds me of Raiza the Storm
Monarch’s effect.
Advanced: 2.5/5
- I don’t see this card being
very good right now. This is the rating for this card in the
present.
In the future I would probably give this a higher
rating but it’s just not that good right now.
Traditional:1/5
-It is hard to summon it here.It isn’t light or dark so it probably isn’t
worth using in this format.
Art: 2/5
-I’m unimpressed by this card’s
art.I
just don’t think it’s very good.It kind of looks like something my little
cousin can draw. The art still isn’t horrible though.

Today's Card of the Day review is #7 of the Top
10 Cosmo Blazer lists: Lightning Chidori.
This Rank 4 Xyz Monster requires the use of 2 LV4
Wind-type Monsters. It comes out with a so-so 1900
ATK but it comes with 2 pretty good effects
considering it is coming from your Extra Deck so you
don't have to draw it to make use of it.
This card can be brought out in a variety of ways.
Due to the Field Spell, Divine Wind of Mist Valley,
you can easily Xyz Summon this card out with a
combination of 2 Genex Blastfan, Mist Valley
Soldier, or Mist Valley Falcon. You can easily do
this in Harpies esp. with almost every monster in
the archetype being a LV4 WIND Winged-Beast. You can
even use this in Rescue Rabbit-based builds with
Nin-Ken Dog and Luster Dragon.
So this card is somewhat splashable.
The 1st effect is straight-forward but devastating.
"When this card is
Xyz Summoned:
Target
1 Set
card your opponent
controls;
return
that target to the bottom of the
Deck."
Simply put, this is an Trigger Effect. Once you Xyz
Summon this card, either a Set monster or a Set
backrow is going back into your opponent's deck.
Even worse, it goes to the bottom so if you hit a
card that they can't chain off of, like Mirror
Force, then they will take an immediate -1 and you
don't have to worry about seeing that card anytime
soon afterwards since it is parked as the last card
in your opponent's deck. That will be a pain to get
back without directly searching for it.
Nice, short, sweet.....but insanely powerful.
It's 2nd effect is just as powerful and could even
hurt more than the 1st one, depending on the
situation.
"Once per
turn:
You can
detach
1
Xyz Material from this card to target 1
face-up card your opponent controls; return that
target to the top of the Deck."
This is an Ignition Effect. Keep in mind that they
are 2 different effects and they do work completely
from each other even though that should be obvious.
What that effect does is the almost exact opposite
of the 1st effect. Now you get to use an old term
called the "spin" mechanic. This is used back when
Raiza the Storm Monarch and Phoenix Wing Wind Blast
was both meta-relevant cards. What the "spin"
mechanic does is that the targeted card goes back to
the top of your deck.
Therefore, with this effect, just detach an Xyz
Material, target a face-up card, spin it back to
your opponent's deck. This can do a lot of things.
First of all, it gets rid of the card in question
off the board so that is a +1 for you right there.
Secondly, depending on the returned card, your
opponent can't do much with it, making his next draw
a complete waste esp. since you know what card he
drew that turn. That gives you another turn to do
even more damage and 1900 ATK direct attacks can add
up fast.
Third, this card can target any CARD on the field.
Royal Decree annoying you? Spin it away.
Need Macro Cosmos/Dimensional Fissure off the board
for one turn? Good bye, you pain in the back side.
Black Luster Soldier stopping you from getting rid
of your opponent's remaining 1500 Life Points? Go
away!
Lastly, this can also deal with Extra Deck monsters.
Stardust Dragon can't stop this. Neither can Thought
Ruler Archfiend. Wind-Up Zenmaines can't help but to
be blown away and even Number 39: Utopia will be
helpless against its raging winds. While your
opponent won't have to deal with an bad draw phase
next turn, getting rid of annoying threats no matter
what they are is too good of a deal otherwise.
Even better, if it lives to see another turn, you
can simply do it again. It controls the game, forces
your opponent to be more aggressive possibly walking
into an obvious trap, and it forces out very bad
decisions that can end a stalemate and win the game
for you.
This is one of the best WIND support cards that can
be given without being outright broken. Konami
deserves props for this card design.
Advanced Format: 4.5/5 (If it had a little more ATK,
say 200 ATK, it would have been a perfect score.
Still, this card deserves a lot of attention when
the next set is released.)
Traditional Format: 3.5/5 (Low ATK but very
flexible. I'm sure it will be of value there as
well. After all, bouncing a BEUD summoned by
Cyber-Stein got to give you some brownie points
after all.

Lightning Chidori
Wind/Thunder/Xyz/Effect/Rank 4/1900/1600
2 Level 4 WIND monsters
When this card is Xyz Summoned: Target 1 Set card
your opponent controls; return that target to the
bottom of the Deck. Once per turn: You can detach 1
Xyz Material from this card to target 1 face-up card
your opponent controls; return that target to the
top of the Deck.
Number 7 on the POJO top 10 from Cosmo Blazer is
Lightning Chidori. Lightning Chidori seems to love
sending cards back to the deck which is always a
really good way of annoying your opponent. First of
when it’s Xyz Summoned it can send a set card to the
bottom of the deck; this is a very good effect
especially if it happens to be a monster, while once
per turn it can send a face up card to the top of
the deck, which is also very good as it will either
delay your opponent for give them a dead draw. Sadly
Lightning Chidori isn’t perfect, first is it low
stats for a Rank 4 means that you are likely to get
it’s effect once before the opponent destroys it and
also Why is it Wind/Thunder? It seems like a strange
combo and it might have been better if it was a
Winged Beast.
Overall Lightning Chidori is a good card with really
good effects, just a shame about it’s low stats.

Miguel
Today's card name made me think it was for one
thing, but it is entirely for another, that makes me
sad. Lightning Chidori is a card that swoops in and
can clear out an unprotected field real quick. A
WIND/Thunder type that needs 2 level 4 WIND monsters
to summon. As soon as it's Xyz summoned, you get to
target 1 set card your opponent controls and whoosh
it back to the bottom of their deck. Once per turn,
you can detach an Xyz material to do the same to a
face up card your opponent controls, but it gets put
back on the top of their deck. If your opponent has
a big monster with specific summoning conditions and
a face down card such as Mirror Force, Lightning
Chidori can clear the field and strike for 1900 with
no problem. Debris Dragon can work well with this
card if you summon the right monster. But the one
deck that came to mind right away that can benifit
from Lightning Chidori was Harpies, seeing how they
are getting major support in the next set. This card
has potential, just not right now.
