It's the first full week of the new year, and we open 2013 with Gagaga Caesar. Let's see...Earth, Warrior, both well supported, and Level 3 with 1800 attack isn't at all a bad thing. 600 defense isn't great, and he can't attack unless you control at least one other face-up Gagaga Monster. He's a gem though in a Gagaga Deck, despite that silly attack restriction. So once per turn, you can Banish a Monster from your Graveyard that has a Level. The Levels of ALL face-up Gagaga Monsters you control become that Level. Obviously this is to make XYZ Summoning in a Gagaga Deck much easier. Gagaga Caesar can't be used as Synchro Material, although that's likely a moot point. If I were for some reason playing a Gagaga Deck, I'd probably be using one or two of these.

We are going to be reviewing some more cards from Abyss Rising this week and to start the week off, we will be looking at Gagaga Caesar. The first thing we notice is that it has 1800 attack for a level 3 monster. That is pretty high and when combined with power-up cards and Gravity Bind. The real value of Gagaga Caesar is in its level changing ability when combined with other Gagaga monsters.

With Gagaga Caesar, we now have 4 Gagaga monsters to work with. We also have monsters like Mystic Tomato and Summoner Monk to search them out. Then you can use cards like Gagagarevenge, Call of the Haunted, and Monster Reborn to bring them back from the grave. What Gagaga Caesar gives you is the ability to Xyz summon monsters that are higher than level 8 and more consistency with combos.

By also playing Tragoedia and Gorz in your Gagaga deck, you can Xyz summon Rank 7 and 10 monsters. You could also use Sorcerer of Dark Magic in your deck so you can Xyz summon Rank 9 monsters. With Gagaga Magician being able to make Rank 1-8 monsters, you now have the ability to Xyz summon any monster in the game that is not Type specific. That is a lot of really powerful monsters.

If you are looking to build a powerful and fun deck that is based on summoning Xyz monsters, then a Gagaga deck is for you. You will need Gagaga Caesar, Magician, Girl, and Gardna along with the monsters listed above and some of the six Gagaga spell and trap cards. It is too one dimensional and slow to be a top tier deck, but it is cheep to make and fun to play.

Sorry to have been away so long, but it was a busy time for me last month with all the holidays, including my 40th birthday :P (that's right people of ALL ages love Yugioh :D ) Anyways, back to reviewing...

GC has the potential to be an amazing card for XYZ summoning, but due to the low number of Gagaga monsters available, there's not a lot to do with him yet. Once Gagaga Clerk becomes available here in the US, he'll be better, but until then, you have to count on matching him to a non-Gagaga monster, or special summon one of them to get the most out of GC.

He'll work good in the mid to late game, but you need to do some set-up to get the most from him. Not a bad card, but it has a fair amount of 'yet-to-usable' potential.
