The Madolche archetype is a highly underrated,
underplayed, and fun deck to play. The focus of
Madolches is to keep recycling your resources while
your opponent expends theirs and to swarm the field
with level 3 and 4 monsters to either power them up
or to Xyz summon more powerful monsters. All Madolche monsters have the effect of going back to
the deck when destroyed, so they can be reused. One
of the key cards in the deck is a field spell card
by the name of Madolche Chateau. This field spell
card powers up all of your Madolche monsters and
allows you to send them back to your hand when
destroyed instead of sending them back to the deck.
This is where Madolche Messengelato comes in. It
allows you to search for any Madolche spell or trap
card when it is special summoned and you have a
Beast type monster on the field. That is where
Madolche Mewfeuille comes in useful as it not only
special summons Messengelato, but is also a Beast,
so Messengelato will be able to get its effect. The
spells that you want to get with Messengelato are
ether Madolche Chateau or Ticket. Together, those
cards load your hand with Madolche monsters.
The question is; is Madolche Messengelato
necessary to a Madolche deck? My answer to that
question is no. First, Madolche Ticket and the
Madolche traps are not needed to make a good
Madolche deck. All you really need is Madolche
Chateau and Madolche Butlerusk can get that for you
and it does not need to be special summoned.
Butlerusk only needs any Madolche on the field while
Messengelato has to have a Beast.
I want to point something out before I wrap
things up. Madolche Messengelato is the latest
Madolche to be released and while all of the
Madolche monsters that were released before it say
“When this card you control is destroyed”,
Messengelato says, “When this card in your
possession is destroyed”. Apparently the boys in R&D
have come up with wording that describes cards in
your hand and on the field. Sense all of the
Madolche monsters work the same, we should apply
this to all Madolche monsters. This is not official
as far as I know, but I would check with your head
judge if you are playing Madolches in a tournament.
