Monday
We've got an interesting week of randoms for you,
and we open with one of the few Malific Monsters out
there. Malefic Cyber End Dragon is a Level 10, Dark
attributed Machine Monster, with 4000 attack and
2800 defense. First off, I'm not a big fan of the
Malefic Monsters. There can only be one on the
Field, only that Monster can attack, and it's
dependent on having a Field Magic card out. Plus,
you can only Special Summon it by removing the
original Cyber End Dragon from your Extra Deck from
play. Fortunately, Cyber End Dragon is a relatively
simple Monster to Summon. I'd still certainly play
the original over this though. I'd hope a card like
that (the original Cyber End) would win you the game
though, I mean even in that build, I don't see this
being a necessary card.

This guy has been big player in skill drain/necrovalley
anti-meta decks since it came out. He packs a huge
body, easy summoning condition, and plays well with
skill drain or necrovalley. The only big caveat that
has always plagued anti-meta decks is the lack of
consistency. While most decks can just search
whatever monster they need, anti-meta can tutor
necrovalley; which is good, but not good enough to
bring it up to snuff.
If you play anti-meta focused around skill drain
and/or necrovalley play him. If you don't, we'll,
don't.

Alright today we are reviewing a card that is
very important to me. It’s a malefic monster that is
one of the easiest 4000 attack beaters you can
summon. All you need is a field spell card and then
you can summon this guy. It’s just that easy!! So
let’s look at what this card can do.
Malefic Cyber End Dragon
Attribute: Dark
Types: Machine/Effect
Level 10
This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This
card cannot be Special Summoned except by removing
from play 1 "Cyber End Dragon" from your Extra Deck.
There can only be 1 face-up "Malefic" monster on the
field. Other monsters you control cannot declare an
attack. If there is no face-up Field Spell Card on
the field, destroy this card.
ATK/4000 DEF/2800
I’ve personally used a malefic deck for five
formats and I think this is the best malefic
monster. Malefic Stardust can keep field spells safe
but not many cards can get over this monster,
especially when combined with Skill Drain. It’s easy
to summon and is usually an amazing top deck card.
There really isn’t much else to say about this
card. I think it’s a great card but the problem is
that it isn’t too useful in the current meta.
Malefics lose to Evilswarms because of Evilswarm
Ophion and can also have a problem with Prophecies
with all of the card advantage that deck creates.
Malefic decks tend to do pretty well against the
Dragon Ruler match up because of Skill Drain and
Necrovalley. So overall I think Malefic Cyber End
Dragon is a great card, but it just isn’t very good
right now.
Advanced: 3.5/5
Traditional: 2/5
-Malefics are just too slow here. It could be useful
against Chaos-based decks but not against much else.

Today's Card of the Day Review is Malefic Cyber
End Dragon, which is a card that has a few
advantages that I'm a little shocked it wasn't taken
advantaged of in this format.
To start, this card has a pretty simple summoning
cost. You need to do just 1 thing: banish a Cyber
End Dragon card from your Extra Deck to Special
Summon this. Of course, that means you have less
Extra Deck space to spare for the Synchro and Xyz
Monsters.
Now, keep in mind that, unless there is a face-up
Field Spell on the field when this is Summoned, it
will self-destruct, which is a bad thing. However,
if you have a Skill Drain on the field, it will
negate its effect when it appears and it won't blow
up despite there is no Field Spell on the field.
Now, going on with that, we have a pretty wide
assortment of Field Spells available. For Prophecy,
we have access to Secret Village of the Spellcasters.
Dragon Rulers have access to Dragon Ravine. You get
the idea.
There is something about this card that can
easily be abused this format. Well, it is a 4000 ATK
DARK monster, which makes it an eligible target for
Eradicator Epidemic Virus, the card that basically
owns Prophecy decks and, since it is so easy to
summon (just need a Field Spell and a Cyber End
Dragon in your Extra Deck), unless there is a
Evilswarm Ophion or an Vanity's Emptiness face-up on
the field, it is always live. In fact, I doubt you
can find a quicker way to Eradicator an opponent
with minimal resorces (well, there is Fusillier, the
Dual-Mode Beast but you get the idea).
Even then, you still got a 4000 ATK monster that
you can drop at will to deal with any problem
monster via battle. Secondly, it is a Level 10
monster, which allows you to Xyz Summon Gustav Max
if you ever need to with another Level 10 monster.
Unfortunately, you can't Summon an 2nd Malefic Cyber
End Dragon and you can't attack with other monsters
with this on the field but, with a 4000 ATK monster
that can be summoned so easily, it needs some
restrictions.
It is a pretty neat card with its own benefits
and weaknesses. It is also perhaps the only playable
card out of the Bonds Beyond Time Movie Pack too,
which is disappointing.
Traditional Format: 2/5 (This + Limiter Removal =
Troll Mode. That is all that needs to be said. I
wouldn't be surprised if it fits in this format
better than Advanced.)
Advanced Format: 3/5 (One of the quickest ways to
set up an Eradicator, 4000 ATK will take down
basically any problem monster, and it is a DARK
Machine, giving it a lot of extra support. It's
actually pretty good overall.)

Hey guys Today we're going to be doing Malefic
Cyber End Dragon (I'm going to call it MCED). Now
MCED is a great card, no really, it's an amazing
card for this meta provided you have the right set
up. Its 4000atk 2800def body gets over just about
anything in this meta under Obelisk, He is a walking
Eradicator Epidemic Virus target, & He's easily
special summoned by banishing his counterpart from
the extra.
His only drawbacks are you can only have one Malefic
on the field (It's okay it's not many good ones),
He's the only one able to attack on your field, & if
your field spell is destroyed he goes with it.
Overall coupled with a great field spell (Necrovalley
or Geartown) he can be amazing

Malefic Cyber End Dragon
DARK/Machine/Effect/Level 10/4000/2800

There can only be 1 face-up "Malefic" monster on the

This week we are looking at a Hodgepodge of cards
that surprisingly haven’t been reviewed before.
First off we have Malefic Cyber End Dragon, one of
Malefic’s main powerhouses, the other is Malefic
Rainbow Dragon but this is better, since it can
never result in a dead draw. Malefic Cyber End
Dragon has all the horrible conditions that plague
the Malefic type, only allowed 1 on the field, you
cannot attack with any other monsters, no field = no
monster and it doesn’t have any unique effect. Still
it does have 4000 ATK so it will destroy most things
the opponent throws at it.
Overall, a solid card and a must for Malefic Decks,
but not much uses anywhere else and the stupid
conditions don’t help.

This week contains
an action-packed line of cards that we have never
touched before. All of these cards are rather dated,
but they all have very interesting uses and
applications. Some good, some bad, but this will
definitely be an enjoyable week. We got some CXyzs
next week and following that we have a Noble Knight
kick-off. We’ll top that all off with top 10 list
for the Judgment of Light booster, and it all starts
now, here, on pojo.com.
We’ll be kicking this party off with Malefic Cyber
End Dragon. This tough robot is the best out of all
the Malefic monsters. Ok, so Rainbow Dragon and
Paradox Dragon match it in ATK and Truth Dragon has
5000 ATK, but MCED is also the easiest to summon.
The only real issue is that you need the original
Cyber End Dragon Fusion Monster eating up an Extra
Deck space (admittedly better than eating up space
in the Main Deck). I draw MCED. Is there a Field
Card active? There is? BOOM! Instant 4000 ATK.
An easy-to-summon monster with 4000 ATK? Well that’s
gotta have some restrictions, right? It does. If you
want to play two at once, you will need Book of Moon
and Skill Drain (truth be told, MCED is so powerful,
you don’t need to be obsessed about having more than
one at once). MCED is the only monster that can
attack, so your opponent can just keep playing
Defence monsters and you’ll never be able to Direct
Attack. The biggest weakness is that if I can find a
way to make sure there is no faceup Field Card, MCED
is going bye-bye. Ouch.
I bet you’re asking, “With all these possibilities,
what combos can I do with MCED?” There are a bunch.
MCED has a lot of stinky effects, doesn’t it? Have
you ever heard of Skill Drain? It’s a fun Continuous
Trap that negates all monster effects as long as
they are on the field. This means it can be a backup
in case your Field is about to get destroyed or even
as a replacement for the field altogether. Not only
that, having Skill Drain out means ALL your monsters
can attack for a malicious rampage! Also, being a
hi-ATK Dark monster means Deck Devastation and
Eradicator Epidemic Virus are other uses for MCED.
Also, you can use Galaxy Queen’s Light to turn all
your monsters into Level 10 and Xyz Summon
Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Gustav Max or
Superdimensional Robot Galaxy Destroyer, but that’s
a tad bit excessive.
MCED is extremely splashable; it is meant to be an
emergency 4000 ATK (8000 if combined with either
Megamorph or Limiter Removal) and can be played in
any Deck that uses a Field and/or Skill Drain. Of
course, you will need to run Cyber End Dragon, but
that doesn’t necessarily mean you HAVE to be able to
summon it. In fact, the only Deck that should be
able to summon CED (besides Cyber-Stein, Future
Fusion, or Metamorphosis in Traditional) is a Cyber
Dragon Deck, which shouldn’t have MCED anyway since
they don’t use Fields or Skill Drain. If you have
MCED, you have CED only to pay its cost; don’t try
to use them together! The Field Spell of the Crystal
Beasts, Ancient City – Rainbow Ruins, is difficult
to destroy, so MCED can work there, especially
considering how Crystal Beasts are lacking in power.
Gravekeepers can also use it, as Necrovalley slows
down a lot of Decks, and Gravekeeper’s Descendant
can help clear passageways for MCED to attack. As I
said before, a Deck focused around Skill Drain does
not even need a Field to play MCED. A place where
MCED can truly shine, however, is in a Machine Deck.
Specifically, I’m talking about a Machine Deck that
runs a lot of Fields and Skill Drain (sometimes also
Gadgets and Machina).
This Deck’s favourite Fields are Necrovalley
and Geartown. The Deck is focused on destroying
Geartown, summoning Ancient Gear Gadjiltron Dragon
from the Deck. Necrovalley is a backup Field as it
happens to directly hinder a lot of important cards.
Skill Drain also helps to negate monsters’ effects,
including the negative effects of MCED.
Niche Decks: Malefic,
Machinatown, Skill Drain, Crystal Beast, Gravekeeper
Ruling Clarification: Even if I have out a Malefic
monster with Skill Drain, I still won’t be able to
bypass the part that says, “There can only be 1
face-up Malefic monster on the field” because the
Malefic monster in my hand says the same thing
meaning I can’t put it down, since Skill Drain can’t
touch the hand. If for some reason all the Malefic
monsters on my field were facedown, I can play more,
then if Skill Drain is active, I can Flip Summon the
facedown ones.
Ruling
Clarification #2: Suppose my Malefic monster is
being supported by my Field Card. If I want to
activate a new one, I must destroy the old one.
There will be one point where there is NO active
Field Card at all, so once I activate a new one, my
Malefic monster will be destroyed. If my opponent
were to activate one, mine will only get destroyed
when the other one resolves, so right after mine
gets destroyed, my opponent’s will be on the field,
so my Malefic won’t get destroyed.
Trad: 1.5/5 (Fields are not important at all with
Skill Drain only minimally so, so you would probably
be better off trying to set up an OTK with
Cyber-Stein, Future Fusion, or Metamorphosis with
the original CED using Megamorph or Limiter Removal)
Adv: 4/5
Aesthetics: 5/5 Like the duelist that used them,
monsters wear black masks after they’ve been
transformed into Malefic monsters. Each of CED’s
heads are uniquely shaped, so it’s interesting to
see the black mask covering half of each face, along
with all the other “sinful” decals. It’s probably a
shame that it doesn’t carry the original’s Pierce,
but it might be broken then. If you’ve watched the
Bonds Before
Time movie, the overuse of Synchros caused the
Meklord Emperors to come and destroy Earth. Paradox
went back in time and stole Zane’s Cyber End Dragon,
transforming it in order to kill Pegasus so that
Synchros would never be invented. In the card game,
there are a total of ten Malefic cards. There a Trap
and Field Spell, and all the monsters are Dragons,
except their Tuner monster and Cyber End Dragon
(which is kind of like a Dragon). In an actual
Malefic Deck, there are many notable Fields to
choose from out of currently eighty. As the Malefics
Banish their original versions to be summoned, Chaos
Zone can help with that theme. Speaking of
Banishment, Future Visions can help inhibit the
opponent’s Normal Summons, since a Malefic Deck
itself rarely Normal Summons. I’ve seen Pseudo Space
used before to copy the effects of Fields in the
Graveyard, but I wouldn’t say it’s ideal. Magical
City Endymion can protect itself from destruction,
and would be better if you could find a productive
way to use its Spell Counters. In my opinion, the
best Fields are Malefic World, Necrovalley, and The
Seal of Orichalcos. Malefic World can search any
Malefic card, including MCED. Necrovalley is good
for overall disruptive purposes. Orichalcos’ best
feature is that it’s hard to destroy in general,
though it gives a power bonus as well.
Riddle: What goes up but doesn't go down? Answer on
Friday.
