After a day off yesterday, we open with an XYZ
Monster in Number 61: Volcasaurus. We have a Rank
5 XYZ Monster, of the Fire attribute, and a Dinosaur
(appropriately as you might expect for a Monster
whose name ends in "Saurus). This Monster is XYZ
Summoned with two Level 5 Monsters, and has 2500
attack, which is good, and 1000 defense, which is
not so good. 2500 attack, while respectable enough,
is a little low for a Rank 5 Monster, especially
when you consider there are stronger and easier to
summon XYZ Monsters.
Volcasaurus is allowed to detach an XYZ Material
once per turn, to target and destroy an opponent's
Monster, as long as it's face up, and if you do, you
inflict Damage to your opponent equal to that
Monsters original attack. That's pretty worthwhile,
and could account for some significant Damage, maybe
even a game winning move there. In addition, if you
activate this effect, Volcasaurus cannot attack
directly this turn, but he's still allowed to attack
Monsters your opponent controls.
I'm really liking this guy, and being a Dinosaur
obviously makes him another weapon or any Dino or
Dino-hybrid Deck. A Rank 5 isn't the hardest thing
in the world to XYZ Summon, and this guy could
potentially win a game with that effect. I don't
think he's the BEST XYZ Monster to come out, but
he's certainly a welcome addition to the scene.
Being Fire really lets him find a home in some
Decks too.

We have a fresh new batch of cards from the new
Zexal tin to review for you this week. We are going
to start off with Number 61: Volcasaurus. With the
mere cost of two level 5 monsters, we can destroy
one face up monster your opponent controls and
inflict damage equal to that monster’s original
attack. We already have a monster that can destroy
one of your opponent’s monsters in Adreus keeper of
Armageddon, but it does not inflict damage. Adreus
can still attack however and has 100 more in attack.
We can get around that little problem by overlaying
with Gaia Dragon, the Thunder Charger and having
piercing ability.
Summoning two level five monsters is not very
difficult for the right decks. Wind-Up’s, Dark
World, and Hieratic decks can summon it the easiest.
We can also use cards like Cyber Dragon, Instant
Fusion, and Quickdraw Synchron to summon it.
All-in-all, Volcasaurus is a very strong card that
can get around almost any monster in the game.

This week we shall be looking at some of the new
cards from the Zexal tin that was released last
Friday! These cards were released in the OCG in the
Yuma and Kaito Duelist Packs; which we did not
receive. Luckily, we did through these special
edition! Today we will be looking at one of the most
powerful cards in the tin, Number 61: Volcasaurus!

Usually when a card is revealed in the anime
we received it with a weakened effect. For example,
the Egyptian G-d cards. So when this card was played
in the anime, many thought that the card would be
completely weakened and highly unplayable.
Boy were we wrong.
This is one of the most powerful rank 5 monsters,
and xyz monsters for that fact, that is currently
available. This is for good reason as well. It has a
high attack for it's card in relation to other rank
5 monsters; only falling short to Tiras, Adreus, and
Zenmaioh. In addition, it's ability is a one-sided
ring of destruction! I am sure we all know how
powerful that can be. Not only does it get rid of a
powerful threat, it deals full damage to them equal
to the monster's attack. Gorz, Black Luster Solider,
Abyssmegalo, and so many other commonly play
monsters suddently become a weapon against their
owner against this card.
To top it off, he can still attack after using this
effect! Granted it isn't a direct attack; but that
isn't an issue if they have another monster on the
field. However, the danger with this card is the
ability to overlay Gaia Dragoon onto Volcasaurus to
get past this condition. For those that don't know,
Gaia Dragoon, the Thunder Charger is a rank 7
monster with 2600/2100. You can xyz summon it though
by overlaying it onto a face-up rank 5 or 6 monster
you control. As a little bonus, it also has Trample.
This card was seen a lot in Hieratics for their OTK.
However, with decks that can use Volca, you can
simply destroy their monster, make them lose a good
amount of life, overlay this, and hit them for 2600
to the face. This combo can range anywhere from
3000-5000 points of damage, depending on what you
destroy.
Let's also not forget that rank 5 is not that hard
to make, thus making this combo a likely move.
Inzektors and Wind-Ups can easily make this creature
and keep card advantage. Some other decks that could
use it with ease are Chronomallys, Gadgets with
Jumbo Drill, and a couple of others.
In the end, Volca is quite the threat to see join
the TCG. Time will only tell if he will be a large
impact or not.

A Once per turn Ring of Destruction on a 2500 body?
This card is extremely deadly in the right deck!
Traditional: 2.75
Not bad; but how easy can you get 2 rank 5's out?
Let's also not forget that Ring is legal here as
well.

It's another Fire Dinosaur! Pyrorex and the Jurracs
will be glad to have his company.

Welcome to another card review!! Today we have a
card that many players have been waiting for. It is
one of the best cards of the new Zexal tin and it’s
a dino!! That’s one of my favorite types of
monsters. Here we go!
Number 61: Volcasaurus
Attribute-Fire
Types-Dinosaur/Xyz/Effect
2 Level 5 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from
this card to target 1 face-up monster your opponent
controls; destroy that opponent's monster, and if
you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the
destroyed monster's original ATK. This card cannot
attack your opponent directly during the turn you
activate this effect.
ATK/2500 DEF/1000
So what is there to say about this card? It’s an
absolutely amazing card! It can be made with any two
level 5 monsters and has a great destruction effect
that burns the opponent. It also has nice stats not
that the stats actually matter. Why don’t the stats
of this monster matter? Well… you can xyz summon
this monster, use its effect and just xyz summon a
Gaia Dragon the Thunder Charger on top of this
monster. Then you can just attack on top of that.
This card can help create OTK’s and will probably
make a large impact on this game.
There are virtually no downsides to this monster
and is easy to summon in a multitude of decks like
wind-ups, dark worlds, hieratics, and many other
decks. The only thing that can stop this monster are
spells and traps. So in other words, you might want
to get a copy of this card. It isn’t too difficult
to pull this from a Zexal tin and is definitely
worth playing. Even if you currently don’t run a
deck that can summon rank 5 monsters, it is still
good to have this monster for future decks.
Advanced: 5/5
-This card is a generic rank 5 monster with an
amazing effect and no downsides. I just had to give
this card a perfect score because it’s just too
good.
Traditional: 3/5
-I don’t know any good decks in the traditional
format that can pump out rank 5 monsters easily. I
might be wrong but I don’t see this card being very
great here. It’s just okay here.
Art: 5/5
-This is a cool looking dino. It is probably one of
my favorite arts for a dinosaur monster. It’s a
purple dinosaur!! That alone makes this card’s art
cool.

Today's Card of the Day Review is one of the
newest cards to be released for the TCG and perhaps
the best card out of the new set, the Zexal
Collection Tin officially released this past Friday:
Number 61: Volcasaurus!
This is a Rank 5 Dinosaur Xyz Monster with a very
solid 2500 ATK and 1000 DEF and it takes 2 Level 5
monsters to bring it out. With just that ATK alone,
it can certainly stand its ground on its own but
what really gives this card such justified hype is
the effect this bad boy has.
"Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material
from this card to target 1 face-up monster your
opponent controls; destroy that opponent's monster,
and if you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal
to the destroyed monster's original ATK. This card
cannot attack your opponent directly during the turn
you activate this effect."
That is quite a doosy. It's a one-sided costless
Ring of Destruction for what it is amounts to be. If
there is a big monster on the field, simply bring
this out, detach an Xyz Material, target it, watch
it blow up to your own amusement and your opponent
takes its original ATK as damage. Ow.
So a Master Hyperion and Grapha would means a
hefty 2700 damage to your opponent (remember, the
card states original ATK, not current ATK, so ATK
modifiers doesn't come into play with like The Gates
of Dark World). Prophecy has High Priestess which
slaps it silly and burns the user for 2500 damage.
You get the idea. It's monster removal and
massive burn all in one.
Now, normally with an effect this powerful, that
monster would have a nasty drawback. Here's another
reason why this card is so bloody good. This card
only loses the ability to attack directly. So if
your opponent still has a monster on the field that
you want to get rid of, you can see Volcasaurus in
and destroy via battle. If it happens to be in ATK
mode, that's more damage for your opponent.
Ouchie. Pain for days, isn't it?
Now, what if your opponent has only one monster
and you just want to blow it up with Volcasaurus's
effect. Normally you would be out of luck but,
fortunately (or unfortunate for your opponent), Gaia
Dragon the Thunder Charger, the cheating Rank 7 that
can Chaos Xyz Change on top of Number 61, can provie
you with an immediate access to a 2600 ATK monster
that can do piercing damage. Therefore, if the
opportunity to win the game comes, you can go with
that option if necessary.
With all of that said, Number 61 is a force to be
reckoned with and any deck that can make Number 61
should make it a Extra Deck staple alongside Gaia
Dragon. Just its effect can end games and this is
not adding the ability to attack another monster nor
does it consider an immediate Gaia Dragon drop. I'm
sure, as time goes on, this card will make its
permanent fixture here in the TCG.
It can be argued that it is the best Rank 5 Xyz
we have in the game right now and will be that way
for a very long time.
Traditional Format: 3/5 (If you can make it
there, you could consider using it. It's powerful
enough to be worth a mention.)
Advanced Format: 4/5 (Extra Deck staple for those
decks that can make it. No question about it. Pick
1-2 up and keep them.)

Number 61: Volcasaurus
Fire/Dinosaur/Xyz/Effect/Rank5/2500/1000
2 Level 5 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from
this card to target 1 face-up monster your opponent
controls; destroy that opponent's monster, and if
you do, inflict damage to your opponent equal to the
destroyed monster's original ATK. This card cannot
attack your opponent directly during the turn you
activate this effect.
This week we are looking at some of the new cards
released as part of the 2013 Zexal Collection Tin.
First up is 1 of the new Xyz monster from the set,
Number 61: Volcasaurus. Interesting this is another
Dinosaur Xyz that can do effect damage, the first
was Grenosaurus from the first Xyz Starter Deck.
Number 61: Volcasaurus has a really good effect,
detach 1 material and destroy a face up monster the
opponent controls and if you do, the opponent also
loses life points equal to half the destroyed
monster’s original attack. The only condition is
that he then can’t attack directly. But that doesn’t
stop him from attacking another monster or prevent
your other monsters from attacking directly. Even
though he is a Rank 5 he is easy to get out since a
large number of level 5 monsters have special
summoning effects. Also he has 2500 ATK which will
do some damage even if he can’t use his effect.
Overall Number 61: Volcasaurus is a card people have
been wanting for a while now and it is easy to see
why. A great effect and good attack as well. His
only real problem is his poor DEF but that’s it.
