A new set means a new countdown of the best cards
in said set, so we're bringing you the Top 10 Cards
(as voted and polled by us) from Lord of the Tachyon
Galaxy! We open at #10 with Legendary Atlantean
Tridon. This card has a LOT going for it. A Level 3,
Water attributed, Sea Serpent (like Atlanteans
aren't going to make sweet love to this card all
ready) with a respectable 1600 attack and 800
defense.
What does he do...hell, what doesn't he do would
be more accurate. He speeds up in Special Summoning
of the heavy hitter for the Deck, Poseidra, by
tributing himself and another Sea Serpent Monster.
He has an attack reduction effect to all your
opponent's Monsters of 300, if successful, and
Poseidra can lower attack too. I mean, he's fast,
his attack is decent, and he combos with the boss.
You play two, if not three of this, I'd say probably
one per Poseidra.

The card we are going to review today gives us a
different twist to the Atlantean/Mermail decks
currently being played. The top tier Mermail decks
rely on level 7 monsters for their effects and to
make rank 7 Xyz monsters. Legendary Atlantean Tridon
is a perfect fit for a Mermail deck. It is a level 3
Sea Serpent so it can be easily special summoned
with Deep Sea Diva or Atlantean Marksman and then
use its effect to special summon Poseidra the
Atlantean Dragon, a level 7 monster. It can also be
searched from the deck with Mermail Abysspike.
If you are playing Legendary Atlantean Tridon,
then you are obviously playing Poseidra as well.
Sense Mermail decks are playing Abyss-squall,
getting Poseidra to the field if it is in you hand
or grave is made even easier. With 2800 in attack,
Poseidra makes for a pretty formable foe.
Legendary Atlantean Tridon does some pretty cool
things besides summoning Poseidra. When Tridon
special summons Poseidra, the last thing that
happens is the attack loss, so cards that respond to
the summon, like Bottomless Trap Hole, will miss
their timing. The second cool thing is that Tridon
will trigger the effect of the monster it tributes,
so if you attack with Atlantean Marksman and use its
effect to special summon Tridon, during main phase
two you can tribute the Marksman to special summon
Poseidra and still get marksman’s effect.
Legendary Atlantean Tridon could change the way
Mermail decks are run if they prove to be
consistent. You only need one Poseidra so getting
stuck with dead cards is less likely and there are a
ton of ways to special summon Poseidra even if it is
in your hand. You can even use it as one of your
discards for your other Water monsters. Mermail
decks run pretty good as they are built now, so
Tridon could have a tough time making its way into
an already packed deck could be a tough task. The
nice thing about Tridon is all you need is one
Tridon and one Poseidra to make it playable in a
Mermail deck.

It's time for the top ten cards of Lord of the
Tachyon Galaxy, and at #10 is Legendary Atlantean
Tridon. I'll be honest, I really overlooked this
card. Since it's a Atlantean monster, it goes along
with all the good stuff that comes along with it.
Stats aside, it makes Poseidra, The Atlantean Dragon
a bit more playable, as you can tribute this card
and another Sea-Serpent monster you control to
special summon Poseidra from your hand or deck.
That's pretty good because you get the effect of the
other Atlantean monster you used to tribute for
Poseidra. Tridon's other effect of all of your
opponent's monsters they currently control lose 300
ATK isn't that bad, but isin't all that important.
Tridon is a great card and adds to the powerhouse
Atlantean deck. Now only if it said, "Special summon
from Hand, Deck OR graveyard" it might have gotten a
higher place on our list.

We start off our top ten countdown this week
with: Legendary Atlantean Tridon
"You can Tribute this card and 1 Sea Serpent-Type
monster; Special Summon 1 "Poseidra, the Atlantean
Dragon" from your hand or Deck, then all monsters
your opponent currently controls lose 300 ATK. "
This card is pretty straight forward. You have to
run sea serpents (that's not bad), and either
straight Atlanteans or Poseidra Frogs (ehhhhh....yeah
no. ). I could see him being in some really fun
decks for low level play, but since he includes
neither Spellbook or Elemental Dragon in his name we
probably won't see him much at the next YCS. (prove
me wrong, PLEASE.)

For the next 2 weeks, we will begin with the
team's Top 10 list of the best cards within the
newest set: Lord of the Tachyon Galaxy.
To start off from the bottom of the list, a
sleeper common that will certainly boost a
previously-released Structure Deck: Legendary
Atlantean Tridon.
This Sea-Serpent has a solid 1600 ATK and 800
DEF. Its effect is actually pretty good. Take a
look.
"You can Tribute this card and 1 Sea Serpent-Type
monster; Special Summon 1 "Poseidra, the Atlantean
Dragon" from your hand or Deck, then all monsters
your opponent currently controls lose 300 ATK."
Needless to say, a lot of people has came to the
conclusion that Poseidra is simply too difficult to
consistently bring it into play. Now with Tridon
around, it's a lot easier to pull off.
First of all, this works very nicely with Deep
Sea Diva, our resident Sea Serpent searcher. Deep
Sea Diva will call out Tridon straight from your
deck and since Deep Sea Diva is a Sea Serpent
herself, she will meet the requirements for Tridon's
effect, giving you a Poseidra on the field for just
one card. This makes Deep Sea Diva even better now.
Instead of making just Rank 2 Xyz, Level 5 Synchros
but now Deep Sea Diva is your one-card way to
calling out a 2800 ATK monster on the field.
That's pretty neat.
Secondly, it works nicely when you have an
Atlantean on the field since Tridon's effect will
trigger your Tributed Atlantean's effects.
Atlantean Dragoons? You get a Sea Serpent search
along with a Poseidra on the field.
Atlantean Marksman? Get rid of a Set card along with
a Posidra summon.
Atlantean Heavy Infanty? I'm sure you get the idea.
The second part of Tridon's effect is small and
almost pointless but it does come with an
interesting benefit. Since that part happens AFTER
Poseidra is summoned, this can and will miss the
timing on Torrential Tribute, Bottomless Trap Hole,
and other similar cards since the last thing that is
happening once you use Tridon's effect is the ATK
reduction, not Poseidra's summoning. That's pretty
cool, keeping your freshly-summoned boss monster
around to have some fun. This effect also makes it
easier to crush bigger monsters that Poseidra can't
deal with in battle by itself. There isn't many that
would qualify in this case but it can come in handy.
After all, a Blue-Eyes White Dragon can actually
block your way to victory and Tridon's effect can be
all you need to crush it in battle.
All-in-all, this is what a common in a core set
should be: overall useful, flexible, and can add
more routes for previously-existing strategies. If
you ever wanted to finally put your Atlantean boss
monster to use, start looking for this card.
Traditional Format: 1/5 (It won't make the cut
there. There is far better cards.)
Advanced Format: 3/5 (It's pretty good here. If
Poseidra ever sees competitive play, I'm sure Tridon
will be a big reason why that has happened.)

Legendary Atlantean Tridon
WATER/Sea Serpent/Effect/LV3/1600/800
You can Tribute this card and 1 Sea Serpent-Type
monster; Special Summon 1 "Poseidra, the Atlantean
Dragon" from your hand or Deck, then all monsters
your opponent currently controls lose 300 ATK.
This week, we being looking at the top 10 cards from
Lord of the Tachyon Dragon, as voted by us Card of
the Day reviewers. At number 10 is Legendary
Atlantean Tridon a new Atlantean, in fact the only
new Atlantean in this set. Anyways before I get into
another archetype support rant, let’s have a look at
the card.
Legendary Atlantean Tridon has an interesting
effect, by tributing this and another Sea Serpent
you can special summon Poseidra from your hand or
deck, then all monsters your opponent has lose 300
ATK. Well summoning a monster, especially 1 with
2800 ATK from your deck is a powerful effect and the
fact that you get a mini version of Poseidra’s own
effect does help. The main problem I have with this
card is the fact it doesn’t have an “cost” effect
like most other Atlanteans have.
Overall, if you play Atlanteans this guy should be
seeing play in your deck.

Welcome to our top 10 countdown for Tachyon
Galaxy! I will admit.... There are tons of amazing
cards in this set and it was very hard to make a top
10 list for this set. At the end of this, if you
would like my top 10 list, please feel free to PM me
on Pojo, and I will be glad to send you my list.
Today we are looking at a card that I am enjoying
quite a lot right now, lets take a look at Legendary
Dragon Tridon!
Legendary Atlantean Tridon
WATER/ Sea-Serpent/ Level 3
You can Tribute this card and 1Sea Serpent-Type
monster;Special Summon 1 "Poseidra, the Atlantean
Dragon" from yourhand or Deck, then all monsters
your opponent currently controls lose 300 ATK.
1600 ATK / 800 DEF
This card has a ton of potential for pure
Atlantean decks, or as I like to call it "budget
mermail". In combination of other Atlanteans, you
can easily abuse their boss monster. This and Deep
Sea Diva is a one card Poseidra and this with Heavy
Infantry is a two card Poseidra that destroys one
face-up your opponent controls. In addition, it's a
level 3 and thus can be summoned off of Marksman,
thus summoning a rank 3 or Poseidra that pops a set
card your opponent controls.
As you can see, this card fits perfectly with all
their support! It also sets up Call of the Atlantean
plays, and thus even more spam can be made.
Sadly, the biggest disadvantage of this card is
that it requires other cards to be useful. Without
another sea-serpent, it's quite useless. Also, this
card can summon Poseidra from hand, you never want
to see Poseidra there. Furthermore, Posiedra is
rather a mediocre card, as it will just be a 2800
attacker for the most part. Luckily, it does allow
you to get easily access into the Mermail rank 7
thanks to another new card from this set, Tidal.
Advanced: 3.25
There is a lot of potential for a Pure-Atlantean
deck thanks to this card. If Mermails get hit, this
can create a viable deck.
Traditional: 1.5
Water decks seem meh here... I wouldn't advise it
here
Art: 3.0
It's a baby Posiedra. It's kinda cute!
