Wednesday
Today we cover another Number in Number 46:
Dragluon. This is a Rank 8 XYZ Monster, of the Light
attribute, who is XYZ Summoned specifically with two
Level 8 Dragon type Monsters. Dragluon is beastly,
with 3000 attack and defense, and has a couple
different effects. The interesting part is that you
have to control no other Monsters to activate either
effect. By discarding an XYZ Material, you can
either Special Summon a Dragon type Monster from
your Hand, which is certainly a plus, especially if
you pull out something powerful. Say like a Blue
Eyes White Dragon? Or, you can target a Dragon your
opponent controls and take control of it. Stealing
things from your opponent is fun, and there are
enough Dragon Decks out there that you could pull
this off now and then this Format. Finally, Dragons
your opponent controls cannot activate their effects
until the end of your opponent's turn. The third
effect is about as likely to be used as the second
effect, however often that may or may not be. The
first effect is easily the best. If you're running
Dragons, I don't think you're hurt by running one.
But I don't think you're all that hurt by not using
it either.

The first thing we notice about Number 46:
Dragluon is the 3000 attack and defense. Those are
some pretty good stats that allow you to attack or
defend with it. If you are concerned with your
opponents face down spells or traps and they play
cards like Mirror Force and Dimensional Prison, then
putting Dragluon in defense and using one of its
three effects could be your best option. The second
thing one notices is that Dragluon is only good in a
Dragon deck and that it is more useful against other
Dragon decks.
There are several decks that you could use Number
46: Dragluon in. Hieratic decks can play Hieratic
Seal of the sun Dragon Overlord and Hieratic Dragon
of Sutekh. A Blue=Eyes deck has Blue-Eyes White
Dragon, Rabidragon, and Darkstorm Dragon. Lightsworn
decks have Judgment Dragons. Dragunity decks have
Dragunity Arma Leyvaten and can make a level 8
Dragon monster on every turn. You can also use
Dragluon in decks that special summon level 8
monsters like Synchro monsters, Parsec the
Interstellar Dragon and Schwarzschild Limit Dragon,
Malefic Dragons, or any combination there of.
The effects of Number 46: Dragluon are nothing
ground breaking, but can be quite useful against
other Dragon decks. The first effect allows you to
special one Dragon from your hand. Hieratics,
Blue-Eyes, Dragunitys, and any other Dragon you have
in your hand like Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon and
Lightpulsar Dragon all work wonders with that
effect. The second effect of Dragluon allows you to
take control of one of your opponents Dragons which
could definitely put a damper on their day. The
final effect of Dragluon stops your opponent from
activating the effects of Dragons they control. That
will not do much against Elemental Dragon decks as
their effects activate in the hand, grave, and
banish areas and they play Dracossack (Machine) and
Big-Eye (Spellcaster), but against a Dragunity build
it can be devastating.
While Number 46: Dragluon is only good in a very
few decks, the ones it is playable in should
definitely play it.

Number 46: DragluonLIGHT/Dragon/Xyz/Effect/Rank
8/3000/3000
2 Level 8 Dragon-Type monsters
Once per turn, if you control no other monsters: You
can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then
activate 1 of these effects.
● Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type monster from your
hand.
● Target 1 Dragon-Type monster your opponent
controls; take control of that target.
● Dragon-Type monsters your opponent controls cannot
activate their effects until the end of your
opponent's turn.
After the Synchros earlier this week comes another
Xyz Monster, Number 46: Dragluon one of the
“Legendary” Number monsters from the ZeXal anime.
Statwise it is very good for a Rank 8, a
LIGHT/Dragon which is something you like to see on a
Dragon and it has 3000 ATK and DEF which is good
from a Rank 8. It does require two Dragons as
material but as the effects will show this is
clearly designed to work only in a Dragon deck.
Effectwise on the plus side he has the choice of 3
effects and each requires 1 material. However you
can’t activate them unless this guy is the only
monster you control, which is really bad. The first
effect allows you to special summon a Dragon from
your and, special summoning any monster from your
hand is good and since the only condition is that it
has to be a Dragon and this card is going to be
played in a Dragon deck this isn’t a problem.
The second and third effects require your
opponent to play Dragons which isn’t that great
unless you happen to have something like DNA Surgery
or you are lucky. Still able to take control of an
opponent’s monster and have it as long has it is
face-up on the field is very powerful especially
since there are no conditions to what you can/can’t
do with the monster. The other effect is the usual
effect negation/prevention but since it only stops
one type of monster’s effects it isn’t that useful.
Overall only really good if you (a) play Dragons or
(b) are in a Dragon heavy environment, if neither of
those apply forget it, there isn’t any point playing
this card.

Because we need another dragon in our life we get
it in a number form. Number 46: Dragluon is a Kaito
card, 3000 attack and defense are already a turn on
but it requires 2 level 8 dragon type monsters.
Condition aside, that's actually doable.
As for the effects, we got 3 of them, which can only
be activated if Dragluon is the only monster on your
field:
First effect, you can special summon a dragon from
your hand. that's good, summon a red eyes, a galaxy
or soul drain dragon, hefty monster check him out.
second effect, you can can take control an
opponents dragon monster. that's good for mirror
matches, keep in mind you need 2 dragons to summon
dragluon.
3rd effect you notice a pattern here, dragon type
monsters controlled by your opponent can't activate
their effects until the end of your opponents turn.
The only decks i can see this guy working are
decks revolving dragons, if that wasn't obvious
enough. the stats are good, if used with red eyes
darkness in a blue eyes deck you can have a 8800
direct attack going your opponents way best case
scenario.
Is it worth using this guy anywhere else? Nope,
but i like him, especially in a mirror match. if you
somehow can make room for him in the side deck of
your dragon deck then by all means give him a shot
traditional: 1/5 (pretty sure he's not needed
there)
advanced: 2.5/5 (only usable in dragon decks and
only really useful in a mirror match dragons.
art: 3/5 (we've seen plenty of dragons already, it's
gonna take a special dragon to win us over)

Good day to you all. Today's review covers Number
46: Dragulon, an XYZ monster recently released with
Shadow Specters.
Number 46: Dragulon
Light/Dragon/ATK 3000/DEF 3000
2 Level 8 Dragon-Type monsters
Once per turn, if you control no other monsters: You
can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card, then
activate 1 of these effects.
● Special Summon 1 Dragon-Type monster from your
hand.
● Target 1 Dragon-Type monster your opponent
controls; take control of that target.
● Dragon-Type monsters your opponent controls cannot
activate their effects until the end of your
opponent's turn.
Right away this card strikes me as an ideal card
to use in an E-dragon mirror match. With the recent
release of the Mythic Wood and Water dragons, this
card is very easy to make in that deck. Two of his
three effects help to shut down opposing dragon
decks, whether it be by stealing something they
carelessly left on the field, or shutting down their
effects, though in this case since they all activate
in the grave, your only real options are going to be
Debris Dragon and whatever Dragunities they may be
playing.
Now these are two lovely effects, but lets look
at the whole picture. First, it has to fly solo to
activate these effects. Having no defenses of its
own, you rely on your backrow or hand traps to keep
it safe. Second, look at your other rank 8 options:
the Heiratic Sun Dragon lets you destroy numerous
cards on the field, Number 107 lets you negate
face-up effects when it attacks AND can attack twice
if your opponent lets it happen, and most recently
the new Felgrand Knight XYZ monster can prevent his
own untimely demise with his own effect. There's a
couple of other rank-8 monsters out there, but I
think this hits on the main options people use.
So is it a good card? In the right place, yes. If
you feel you have a good bead on the opponent, or
you just want to summon dragons from your hand, go
right on ahead with this. Maybe you can attack for
game if you drop some huge beater on them. Dragulon
himself does have pretty respectable stats. Maybe
you don't want your opponent's dragons activating
their effects. It's pretty much the only way to
summon Soul Drain Dragon, if you really wanted to. I
could go on, but really it's a matter of knowing
what's going on in the game, and knowing what option
you need from your extra deck. Like just about
anything, you should use it blindly. If you want to
do that, use Felgrand, he'll at least survive some
traps when you summon him.
Traditional: 1/5, there are two level 8 monsters
you use here, and they are both far more devastating
than this.
Advanced: 2.5/5, great in the right time, right
place
Art: 4.5/5, pretty cool
Thanks for reading!
