After seeing today, you probably know what's coming the next two days.  Obelisk the Tormentor actually works pretty similarly to how he did on the cartoon, the most notable difference being that the on the show, any summon of a God card was a Special Summon.  If you're someone who likes to play cards like Rank 10 XYZ Monsters, Obelisk could be a good Deck choice for you.  4000 attack is worthwhile, even for three tributes, and he has a wide arsenal of effects.  His Normal Summon cannot be negated, and when done, cards and effects cannot be activated.  It does go to the Graveyard at the End Phase if Special Summoned, but maybe you won that turn, so it's not a big deal.  He can't be targeted by Magic, Trap, or Monster effects, which is good.  Not that we only have cards to destroy that target, but protection is good.  Also, you can Tribute two Monsters you control to destroy all Monsters your opponent controls.  Obelisk can't attack, but it could be a good finishing move...unless you only had three Monsters, than you have a clear Field and no way to attack.  Just make sure you DO have something to attack with after, and a way to deal with the back row, and you win.

Ratings:

Traditional:  2/5  Obelisk is the best of the three, but they're all hard to use here.

For the next three days, we will be reviewing the “God Cards”. First up is Obelisk The Tormentor. All of the God cards were created with the ability to be summoned without interference from your opponent. Cards like Solemn Judgment and Warning, Bottomless Trap Hole and Trap Hole, and Torrential Tribute can not be activated. The only requirement is to have three monsters on the field to tribute in order to tribute summon it.

Along with an imposing 4000 attack, Obelisk has an added protection of not being able to be targeted by cards or effects. That means cards like Big-Eye, Dracossack, Compulsory, and Dimensional Prison are all useless against it. That does not leave your opponent with many options. One will have to resort to cards like Dark Hole, Mirror Force, Catastor, D.D. Warrior Lady, Spellbook of Fate, and Black Rose Dragon to get rid of Obelisk the Tormentor.

Because of the difficulty in summoning the God Cards, you will not see Obelisk the Tormentor in too many decks. Probably the best fit for Obelisk would be in a Frog/Water deck because of its ability to special summon monsters easily. Another deck type that would be a good fit is one that can summon tokens easily like Mecha Phantom Beasts and decks with Fires of Doomsday and Dandylion.

If you are playing a deck that can spam monsters to the field quickly, then you may want to consider Obelisk the Tormentor. It is a pretty powerful monster and a formidable monster in today’s Meta. The all powerful Dragon decks are not equipped to handle this bad boy and will have to rely on Dark Hole or Black Rose Dragon to deal with it.

Traditional: 2/5 Just too slow.

Obelisk the Tormentor
DIVINE/Divine-Beast/Effect/Level 10/4000/4000
Requires 3 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Normal Summon cannot be negated. When Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. Cannot be targeted by Spells, Traps, or card effects. During the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the Graveyard. You can Tribute 2 monsters; destroy all monsters your opponent controls. This card cannot declare an attack the turn this effect is activated.

Next up we have the first of the Egyptian God cards, Obelisk the Tormentor.  Statwise well it is a DIVINE/Divine-Beast so absolutely no support there, with a whopping 4000 ATK and DEF. It does require 3 tributes to Normal Summon and it will go to the Graveyard if Special Summoned, so is it worth it?

For one thing and it’s a good thing; nothing can stop this card from being normal Summoned, so you aren’t going to just waste your resources on a monster that will get hit by a Solemn Judgement or a Bottomless Trap Hole. Obelisk also has a protection effect that prevents it from being targeted by any card effects; while it isn’t the greatest protection at least it has some.
Its final effect is based on its anime and manga effect which wasn’t well defined. Still by tributing two monsters you control you can destroy all monsters the opponent controls, but it cannot attack. Sadly this effect isn’t much, while wiping out all of your opponent’s monsters is good, having a 4000 ATK monster that can’t capitalise on it isn’t great. Neither for that matter is the cost, in fact the chances of actually needing this effect is quite slim, given a 4000 ATK monster will crush just about anything.

Overall, mostly a giant beatstick with protection than anything else, a solid card but not much unless you are going to build a deck around him.

Hey guys today we are going to be doing probably the most underrated monster of all time in competitive play, but the best Egyptian God Card printed for the tcg/ocg. Obelisk the Tormentor is a 4k beater all around whose summoned can't be negated or stopped via bottomless/torrental etc. To add more to that he can't be Targeted by card effects! Overall Obelisk in the right deck can be a brute force on his own that typically spells out game in himself. His tribute two monster to become a Raigeki isn't typically used, but when you do you're probably gaining maximum advantage for this!
