When Normal Summoned, other cards and effects cannot be activated. When this card is Normal Summoned: You can pay Life Points so that you only have 100 left; this card gains ATK and DEF equal to the amount of Life Points paid. You can pay 1000 Life Points, then target 1 monster on the field; destroy that target.

The Winged Dragon of Ra works MUCH differently than
you saw on the cartoon. Also requiring three
tributes to be Normal Summoned, doesn't gain attack
and defense of the Monsters used for the Tribute
Summon. Like yesterday, this cards Normal Summon
cannot be negated, although it can't be Special
Summoned, unlike Obelisk. Other cards and effects
cannot be activated when Ra is Normal Summoned as
well, like yesterday. You can pay Lifepoints so
that you have 100 left, for Ra to gain attack and
defense equal to the amount of Lifepoints paid.
Also, by paying 1000 Lifepoints, you can destroy
one Monster on the Field. As said, I think Obelisk
can actually be playable. Ra, however, is far more
difficult to play.

The Winged Dragon of Ra
DIVINE/Divine-Beast/Effect/Level 10/ ?/?Cannot be
Special Summoned. Requires 3 Tributes to Normal
Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Normal
Summon cannot be negated. When Normal Summoned,
other cards and effects cannot be activated. When
this card is Normal Summoned: You can pay Life
Points so that you only have 100 left; this card
gains ATK and DEF equal to the amount of Life Points
paid. You can pay 1000 Life Points, then target 1
monster on the field; destroy that target.
Next we come to the second God Card, Mega Ultra
Chicken! Despite what the card says this is not The
Winged Dragon of Ra. In the anime and manga Ra was
the most powerful of the God cards with 3 effects
and tons of protection.
This card doesn’t have that, like all God Cards it
requires 3 tributes and nothing can stop it’s summon
or be activated in response to the summon. But it
goes downhill from there. First it doesn’t have the
same targeting protection Obelisk has so it is
vulnerable to cards like Compulsory Evacuation
Device. Then its two effects which you can only
really use 1 of them at a time. First off you can
pay all your life points until you only have 100
left and the amount you paid becomes Mega Ultra
Chicken’s ATK and DEF, this is already very costly
but annoying it is the only way for Ra to gain ATK
points on his own.
The second effect is even worse; you pay 1000 Life
points to destroy 1 monster on the field. First off
if you used the ATK boost effect, you won’t have the
life points to pay for this effect and if you didn’t
well you have a level 10 monster that required 3
tributes and has 0 ATK and DEF which you still have
to pay life points in order to destroy a monster.
Also it can’t be special summoned at all, which
makes thing worse.
Overall, there is nerfing a card and then there is
Card of Sanctity nerfing where the card has nothing
in common with the anime version barring the name
and art, “The Winged Dragon of Ra” clearly falls
into the later category. Avoid.
