Today we are going to be looking at a card from a
new archetype called “Coach”. Coach is centered on
Fire/Beast-Warrior monsters that were used by Devon
Knox in the Zexal anime. The object of this
archetype is to Xyz summon Coach King Giantrainer.
In order to summon Giantrainer, you will need to
have three level 8 Fire/Beast-Warrior monsters on
the field. That is where Coach Captain Bearman comes
in.
There are currently two deck types that play
Fire/Beast-Warrior monsters, Brotherhood of the Fire
Fist and Fire Kings. By combining Coach Captain
Bearman and its young pup, Coach Soldier Wolfbark,
with one or both of the above deck types, we can
special summon Coach King Giantrainer and two
Fire/Beast-Warrior monsters in one turn.
In a Fire King deck, you can use Trade-In with
Coach Captain Bearman, Fire King High Avatar Garunix,
Pyrorex the Elemental Lord, and Sacred Phoenix of
Nephthys to draw two cards and then use Call of the
Haunted or Circle of the Fire Kings to resurrect
them. So all we have to do is play Onslaught of the
Fire Kings to get one of your monster pieces to the
field, and then use Trade-In on Bearman if it is in
your hand and not in the grave already. Then use
your normal summon on Coach Soldier Wolfbark to
bring Fire King Avatar Yaksha or Barong to the
field. Then use Bearman’s effect to change them all
to level 8 monsters to summon Giantrainer. You can
also use Fire Formation – Tenki and Tensu to help
get the monsters you need to the field.
In a Brotherhood of the Fire Fist deck, we can
use Fire Formation – Tensu to normal summon Coach
Captain Bearman and Wolfbark, then use Wolfbark’s
effect to summon Dragon, Boar, Bear, or Gorilla from
the graveyard. We could also use Boar to get Dragon
from the deck, and then use Dragon to get Boar back
from the grave and then normal summon Bearman. We
could also use Onslaught of the Fire Kings and Fire
Formation – Tensu to get our three monsters to the
field.
Coach Captain Bearman could also be used in a
Skill Drain deck with Forbidden Chalice for a normal
summoned 2600 attack monster. By the way, Bearman
has an amazing 2700 in defense as well. Bearman is
not limited to summoning Coach King Giantrainer. You
can special summon a level 8 monster and normal
summon Bearman to Xyz summon a rank 8 monster. Coach
Captain Bearman is not a game breaking card by any
means, but it can be fun to play.
