I am told that our card of the day, “Summoned
Skull” was the second card that was ever reviewed on
POJO
11 years ago. So why are we reviewing it today?
Shoot! I don’t know but it is Summoned Skull so what
the heck. I remember the day when Summoned Skull was
a boss monster that was played with $30 Gemini
Elf’s. A one tribute 2500 attack monster was tough
to beat back in the day.
Today we have 5 different one tribute normal
monsters with 2500 attack or more, all with
different attributes and types to fit into the deck
type of your choice. If you need a normal monster
that is a Dark and/or Fiend-Type monsters then
Summoned Skull is for you. If all you need is a high
attack normal monster then Frostosaurus or Trance
the Magic Swordsman is the monster of choice.
Cyber-Tech Alligator and Wattaildragon are your
other choices.
The issue that we have with normal monsters,
despite all of the countless support cards they
have, is that they are just too slow and do not give
you enough advantage to control the game today. The
power of effect monsters is just too great for
normal monsters that depend on support cards.
As far as one tribute monsters go, effect
monsters like Monarchs, Vanity’s Fiend, and Jinzo
can cause more problems to your opponent than a high
attack monster can. If you can get two Summon Skulls
on the field then you could make some pretty
powerful Rank 6 monsters, but it will take some
resources and combo’s to pull that off plus,
Summoned Skull is a dead card in your hand and a bad
top deck card as you need a tribute to summon it.
Summon Skull’s time has come and gone, but its
nostalgia and memories will live on.
