Monday
Welcome to Joey's week with cards from Joey's
Legendary Collection and some other character cards.
We look at a new card today, new to the game anyway,
something we saw Joey use in the Orichalcos arc, in
Blue Flame Swordsman. This is a Level 4, Warrior
Monster, Fire attributed, with 1800 attack and 1600
defense. Blue Flame Swordsman can't do a whole lot,
however. He can, once a turn, during either player's
Battle Phase, target a Warrior you control to add
600 attack to...by subtracting 600 attack from
himself. He can then when removed from the Field, by
Battle or card effect, remove himself from the
Graveyard, to Special Summon a Fire, Warrior type
Monster from your Graveyard. That's what kills the
card honestly. If it were either/or, you'd have
playability in various Decks.

Blue Flame Swordsman
FIRE/Warrior/Effect/Level 4/1800/1600
Once per turn, during either player's Battle Phase:
You can target 1 other Warrior-Type monster you
control; this card loses exactly 600 ATK, and if it
does, that monster gains 600 ATK. When this card you
control is destroyed by your opponent's card (either
by battle or by card effect) and sent to your
Graveyard: You can banish this card from your
Graveyard, then target 1 FIRE Warrior-Type monster
in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target.
For some reason this week, we are going to be
looking at mostly Joey cards… (plus 1 Mai card).
First of is one of the new cards from Legendary
Collection 4: Joey’s World; Blue Flame Swordsman.
Annoyingly for anime fans, Blue Flame Swordsman
effect has been altered in the hopes of making him
more playability, but has it worked?
First of is the effect that no-one remembers, in the
anime Blue Flame Swordsman could reduce its own ATK
and increase another monster’s ATK by the same
amount. This effect has been kept largely intact but
now there is a specific amount of 600 meaning it can
be only used 3 times and it only applies to Warriors
but that isn’t too bad. The effect is also a quick
effect which is a good thing, though this effect
does make this card an obvious target.
But in a way that is the point so you can activate
its second effect which is also one of the most
controversial parts of this card, in the anime when
it was destroyed it allowed Joey to get a Flame
Swordsman form his (extra) deck or graveyard. The
real life card doesn’t do that; instead you banish
this card (to stop any possible loops) and you can
special summon 1 FIRE/Warrior from your graveyard
and you would be surprised to see there are actually
quite a few FIRE/Warriors including Command Knight,
Crimson Blader, pretty much all of the "Battlin'
Boxer" archetype and if you happen to have one in
your graveyard, Flame Swordsman.
Okay so the chance to special summon a monster from
your Extra Deck is gone, but the effect does make it
a bit more playable and it is good to finally have
this card realized in some form.
Overall, a solid card with solid stats and it might
see some play in "Battlin' Boxer" decks and if not
it will see play in Joey Character Decks.

Hey guys today we are going to be doing Blue
Flame Swordsman a new release to the TCG and a
pretty good card. If you decrease its attack by 600
another warrior monster gains that same amount. Now
that effect isn't really that good, but when we look
at the second it really shines. When it's destroyed
by an opponents card effect. You can target one Fire
Warrior monster in your grave, banish this card, the
special summon him. Now the only deck that comes to
mind for this card are Battlin' Boxers, but this
card can potentially benefit an archetype or monster
that will come out in the future.....
