Wednesday
For the rest of the week we'll be covering some
random things, and we look an interesting little
oddity today in Flying "C". Statistically, this
little Insect doesn't have much, being Level 3,
Earth attribute, with a paltry 700 attack and
defense. It does a neat trick however. When your
opponent Special Summons a Monster, except during
the Damage Step, you can Special Summon this card
from your Hand to your opponent's side of the Field
in face-up Defense position. The controller of this
card cannot XYZ Summon. Certainly not a bad thing,
and since the opponent can't just XYZ a Rank 3 with
this and get rid of it, there could be problems.
I'd say either they end up tributing it for a cost,
or you end up destroying it cause you need to attack
directly. Or it gets sent back to your side of the
Field, you can't XYZ, and then you have to get rid
of it. Maybe a fun piece of Tech, but I'm not sure
I'd play it, even in Insects.

I have mixed reviews for today’s card - “Flying
“C””. Yes, it can hurt a lot of decks in play today
like E-Dragons, Wind-Ups, Evilswarm, Constellar,
Fire Fist, and Noble Knights to name a few. Once
your opponent special summons a monster with cards
like Rescue Rabbit, Tour Guide, Rekindling, or
Instant Fusion, or has two monsters with the same
level on the field you spring this guy on them to
stop their big plays. Once on their side of the
field, it can be a pain to get rid of unless you are
playing Tuner monsters.
Here is the issue I have with Flying “C”. If you are
playing against E-Dragons and you spring this guy
while they have two Elemental Dragons on the field,
all they have to do is to tribute your “C” and one
of their dragons for an E-Dragon from their hand and
they are right back in business. Or, they can summon
a Debris Dragon and Syncro for a Black Rose Dragon
and blow everything up. There is a card called Curse
of the Circle that can prevent them from Synchro or
tribute summoning, but then we are dealing with
combos at the expense of our own theme and a deck
like E-Dragons can just keep summoning E-Dragons and
use their powerful attack to blast through your
defenses.
Another issue that I have with Flying “C” is that if
you want to stop or hurt those decks that spam Xyz
monsters, you are already playing three Effect
Veilers and three Maxx “C”’s as it is. Playing more
hand traps just clogs your hand and hurts your
ability to run your own theme. It might be fun to
tech in a Flying “C” to fool with your opponent but
outside of that, I do not see it getting much play.
