Friday
Dragon Shield closes our week, and it's certainly
one of the more interesting Equip Magic cards out
there. Equip cards, if only as a general rule, are
bad. Whether or not there are many a card to destroy
them in a format, they just usually aren't worth the
resource and vulnerability. Having said that,
however, this isn't all that bad of one. This can
only be equipped to a Dragon, go figure, and that
Dragon can't be destroyed by Battle or Card Effects.
5/5
Damn it...there were more lines on the parchment.
Neither player takes Battle Damage from Battles
involving the Dragon equipped with this card. That
about single handedly kills this card, as there are
better and more effective ways to go about
protecting cards.

We have one last card for you from the new
Judgment of the Light Monster Box called Dragon
Shield. First, it is an equip card which I do not
like as they tend to be a negative one card
advantage for you. Yes, it protects your Dragon
monster from destruction by battle and card effects,
but it does not stop your opponent from targeting
it, so they can still bounce it or take it giving
you a minus one or two in card advantage.
Where I see Dragon Shield benefiting the most it
with Big Dragon monsters that can plus you each turn
by destroying one of their cards or by summoning
more monsters to the field, thus offsetting the
disadvantage of being an equip card and not being
able to do battle damage. Some examples of these
monsters are Dark Armed Dragon, Red-Eyes Darkness
Metal Dragon, and Hieratic Dragon King of Atum. A
good monster that combo’s well with Dragon Shield is
White Dragon Ninja as the Ninja protects the Shield
and the Shield protects the Ninja.
I do not think Dragon Shield will see much play as
along with the above reasons, it is a combo card
that can only be played when you have a Dragon on
the field. A Hieratic deck is the best bet to see
this card in and it is not top tier at the moment,
so my rating will reflect that.
Good luck and good dueling,

Dragon Shield
Equip Spell
Equip only to a Dragon-Type monster. It cannot be
destroyed by battle or by card effects. Neither
player takes any battle damage from attacks
involving it.
To wrap up this week we have Dragon Shield a bit of
Dragon Support from Judgement of the Light.
Dragon Shield can only be equipped to a Dragon and
that Dragon cannot be destroyed. However neither
player takes battle damage from battles involving
that Dragon.
Okay protection effects are always a good thing, but
what is the point of protecting a monster if you
can’t hurt their life points it seems
counterproductive. If you wanted to protect your
dragon you could use Rider of the Storm Winds which
while the protection is a one-shot it also gives you
a trample effect. Also it is an equip card so it has
all their weaknesses as well.
Overall, not much, protection is all good but a
counterproductive condition means this card isn’t
worth a place in any Dragon Deck.
