Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory
- #JOTL-EN048
If this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate any Spell/Trap Cards until the end of the Damage Step. If this card has a "Utopia" monster as an Xyz Material, it gains this effect.
● When this card declares an attack on a face-up monster your opponent controls: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate that opponent's face-up monster's effects, also this card gains ATK equal to that opponent's monster's ATK. These changes last until the end of this turn.

Speaking of garbage Utopia support...I shouldn't
have been so hard on Salamander yesterday, because
Utopia Ray Victory is a far bigger waste of
resources, and many times worse than yesterday.
This is a Rank 5 XYZ Monster, with 2800 attack
(good, but you have easier to summon XYZ with better
effects with better or more attack) and 2500 attack.
Light is good and obviously well supported, as is
Warrior. This card does prevent your opponent from
activating Magic or Trap cards until the end of the
Damage Step if it attacks. If it has a Utopia
Monster attached as an XYZ Material, if this card
attacks an opponent's face-up Monster, said Monster
has its effects negated, and this card gains attack
equal to that Monsters attack, until the End Phase.
So many unnecessary hoops to go through, waste of
too many resources, just junk. See if you can trade
any of these you come across for something good.

We are going to continue with yesterday’s Utopia
theme and talk about Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory.
If you missed yesterday’s review of
V Salamander, you may want to
review it before proceeding. Although there is a
requirement of 3 level 5 monsters to summon it,
Utopia Ray Victory is best summoned using a Utopia
monster and any one of the Rank-Up Magic cards. Once
out, it becomes a real force to be reckoned with on
offense.
First we start with 2800 attack. Then we add in the
fact that your opponent can not activate any spell
or trap cards during this attack. If you have used a
Rank-Up Magic card then you will also use the effect
to negate the monster you are attacking and gain
that monsters attack. So basically, you do not have
to worry about almost anything once you declare an
attack and you’re almost guaranteed to do 2800
damage. That is pretty good.
What Number C39: Utopia Ray Victor gives us another
answer to a deferent situation that we may face. As
we saw yesterday, Number C39: Utopia Ray V is good
against an opponent who has a lot of monsters on the
field. Utopia Ray Victor is useful against heavy
back rows that play cards like Mirror Force and
Dimensional Prism. While Utopia decks are not what
we call top Meta right now, there could be OTK’s
made with this type of deck. All you have to do is
to give Victor the ability to attack twice.

Today's Card of the Day is an extension of
yesterday's card selection and the cover card of the
Judgment of the Light booster set, Number C39:
Utopia Ray Victory.
This is the 3rd Chaos Number 39 released for the
game and this one is actually pretty good. This card
is made for the Rank-Up-Magic Spell Card archetype
since it is a Rank 5 Xyz monster but it has 2 good
effects that is worth using.
First of all, this is a Rank 5 Xyz monster, which I
already have mentioned, with 2800 ATK, 2500 DEF
(which is pretty good overall), and is also a LIGHT
Warrior, which gives me a good amount of indirect
support. The first effect allows it not to be
concerned with Spells/Traps is not affect it when it
attacks. No Dimensional Prison, no Mirror Force, no
Forbidden Lance, etc etc. It is an overall good
effect.
What makes that first effect so good is when you get
to the 2nd effect, which only happens when you bring
out Utopia Ray Victory via a Rank-Up-Magic Spell
Card because you need an "Utopia" monster attached
to it as an Xyz Material. That effect allows you to
detach an Xyz Material when it attacks an opponent's
monster to negate that monster's face-up effects and
add that monster's ATK to Utopia Ray Victory's ATK
until the End Phase. This card breaks down walls
like Marshmallon and Spirit Reaper and basically
beats any monster in combat since Utopia Ray
Victory's ATK will always be 2800 higher than the
opposing monster. Combining this with the fact that
your opponent can't Dimensional Prison or Prideful
Roar it during the attack phase is pretty darn
brutal and can easily end a game.
One other thing that I need to cover about this card
is the fact that you only need an "Utopia" monster
as an Xyz Material to get Utopia Ray Victory's 2nd
effect so you can bring this out using either Number
39: Utopia or Number C39: Utopia Ray since they both
would count when you Rank-Up-Magic it to Utopia Ray
Victory. This is a nice little added bonus for those
who want to give this card a try and an excellent
supplicant for the Super Starter Deck that was
released a few months earlier.
This is a budget cover card that is pretty good for
the price tag where the Ultimate copy is $5 or less
currently right now and is worth looking into, along
with the Rank-Up-Magic Spells, for any budget
players out there.
Traditional Format: 1/5 (I doubt this will make the
cut there unlike Utopia Ray V because it does need
to attack making it a lot more vulnerable overall.
That does hurt in that format.)
Advanced Format: 3/5 (If you are willing to use
Utopia Ray V, I don't see why you wouldn't use at
least 1 Utopia Ray Victory. It is definitely worth
using at least 1 copy, if not 2.)

Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory
Light/Warrior/Xyz/Effect/Rank5/2800/2500
3 Level 5 monsters
If this card attacks, your opponent cannot activate
any Spell/Trap Cards until the end of the Damage
Step. If this card has a "Utopia" monster as an Xyz
Material, it gains this effect.
● When this card declares an attack on a face-up
monster your opponent controls: You can detach 1 Xyz
Material from this card; negate that opponent's
face-up monster's effects, also this card gains ATK
equal to that opponent's monster's ATK. These
changes last until the end of this turn.
Today we have yet another Utopia Upgrade in this
case, Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory. Statwise this
is quite good, 2800 ATK and 2500 DEF is very good
for a Rank 5, also it is a LIGHT/Warrior so plenty
support already for it and that is excluding all the
ZW cards.
Normally Number C39: Utopia Ray Victory has an
effect similar to many of the old Ancient Gear
Monsters which is always a great effect. However if
you have an Utopia monster as material it gains
another effect like all Chaos Xyz.
Simply when this card attacks a face up monster, you
detach one material and that monster’s effects are
negated and it gains attack equal to that monster’s
ATK until the End Phase. So for one material you
have an effect similar to Effect Veiler and an
effect similar to Honest combined into one effect.
That is very useful and combined with its normal
effect and there is very little that can stop this
from winning any time it attacks.
Of course it isn’t perfect, the second effect only
works on face-up monsters and both effects are only
useful and playable during your Battle Phase so it
is still quite vulnerable despite having a lot of
protection.
Overall if you are playing a lot of Utopias and
Ranked Up cards this is almost essential, otherwise
it is a good monster but not the perfect card the
anime likes to portray it as.

Hey guys today we are doing Utopia Ray Victory,
yet another Utopia/version that has been reprinted.
This card overall isn't much too talk about. When
he's xyz summoned by using three materials your
opponent cannot activate spells and traps when he
attacks.... I'd rather have Armades.. When he's
summoned through Utopia (keep in mind you have to
xyz summon Utopia then use Rank Up Magic Barians
Force) he can negate a face-up monster he declares
an attack on and gain it's attack. Not bad I guess,
just not worth the setup in my opinion.
