Number 104:  Masquerade is a card I'm surprised didn't quite make its way into our Top 10 list.  This is a Rank 4, Spellcaster XYZ Monster, XYZ Summoned with 3 Level 4 Monsters.  It's a Light attributed, Spellcaster Monster, with 2700 attack and 1200 defense.  During either player's Battle Phase, when a Monster activates an effect, you can detach an XYZ Material from this card to negate said Monsters effect, and if you do, inflict 800 Damage to your opponent.  Being able to use this during either turn is awesome, and that makes the triple XYZ requirement a little better too.  Also, once a turn, you can send the top card of your opponent's Deck to the Graveyard.  That's a fun effect, and pretty cool it's not mandatory.  It can help some Decks, namely things like Dark World or Fire Fist.  This isn't the best XYZ Monster we have, but I'd play it in Spellcaster for sure, and try it anywhere else you may have room in your Extra Deck.

Number 104: Masquerade
LIGHT/Spellcaster/Xyz/Effect/Rank4/2700/1200
3 Level 4 monsters

During either player's Battle Phase, when an opponent's monster effect is activated: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; negate the activation, and if you do, inflict 800 damage to your opponent. Once per turn: You can send the top card of your opponent's Deck to the Graveyard.
Next up we have one of the over-hundred numbers, in this case Number 104: Masquerade used by Vector in the anime. Statwise it has a lot of things going for it; it is a LIGHT/Spellcaster so there is already plenty of support which is good and it has 2700 ATK which is quite high for a Rank 4. The only downer is the weak 1200 DEF but you can’t have everything.

Now the effects; the first effect allows you to negate an opponent’s monster’s effect if it activates in the Battle Phase and deal 800 points of damage as well. This is quite good and it can be used in the damage step which is a big plus. The second effect allows you to send the top card of your opponent’s deck to the graveyard. I admit I really like decking out strategies and able to cost the opponent a card with no cost is really good. Of course with cards like Dark Armed Dragon and a lot of cards liking the graveyard this could easily be a double edged sword.

Overall, great ATK thanks to its Attribute and type it has plenty of support and it is splashable and two good effects. It is let down by weak DEF and it does require 3 monsters to summon which can be tricky.

Hey guys today will be doing Number 104: Masquerade and to be honest this is quite a depressing card as it is so close to being a really good card for this format. During either players battle phase if an effect monster is activated you can detach a material to negate that effect then burn your opponent for 800. Keep in mind that as long as the effect happens in the BP then you can negate that effect even if your opponent is not declaring an attack. The second effect is less than mediocre it could potentially benefit your opponent so lets not even talk about that. Overall this card could have been better if it only required to materials, or even if it had a better effect, but until then in the trash pile you go.
