Wednesday
After a long weekend, we come back, taking a
brief break from the new set, to check out cards
from the newest structure Deck, full of support for
Blue Eyes White Dragon. Dragon Shrine is one of
those cards that, at least for the time being, can't
exactly be used to its full potential. Scratch
that...Dragon Rulers can't really use this to its
potential, but they can't use a lot right now. This
is a Normal Magic card but is anything but Normal.
Send a Dragon from your Deck to the Graveyard, and
if said Dragon is a Normal Monster, you can send
another Dragon from your Deck to the Graveyard. This
card, as should be obvious, isn't great, on its own,
and you can't just throw it in a Dragon Deck and
expect good things. But it can work in any Dragon
Deck, so long as you're running enough Normal
Dragons. It's combo potential is just sick.

Well, lets just make dragons even better than
they already are shall we. Dragon Shrine is a
supped-up Foolish Burial that was tailor made for
the new Blue-Eyes Structure deck. By sending a
Blue-Eyes White Dragon to the graveyard, we can then
send The White Stone of Legend to give us a
Blue-Eyes to our hand to use with Trade-In and a
Blue-Eyes in the grave to use with Azure-Eyes Silver
Dragon, Silver’s Cry, or Call of the Haunted.
And then of course, there are those powerful
Elemental Dragon decks that Konami tried and failed
to destroy. Send Flamvell Guard to the graveyard to
then send the Elemental Dragon Ruler that you need
to the graveyard which gives you two dragons to
special summon your E-Dragons. Along with Dragon
Ravine, you can load your graveyard with Dragon
monsters to speed up the deck. Like we need it to
get even faster right!
Dragon Shine can be used in just about any Dragon
deck. Use it to put a light and a dark dragon in the
grave for Chaos decks, or use it to put Dragunity
Phalanx in the grave for Dragunity Dux in a
Dragunity deck. Even if you are not playing normal
Dragon monsters, Shrine still works like Foolish
Burial to get the monster you need to the grave.
While Dragon Shrine is limited to Dragon decks, it
is the Dragon decks that are at the top of the food
chain, so Dragon Shrine gets a high mark from me.

Dragon Shrine
Normal Spell
Send 1 Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to the
Graveyard, then, if that monster in your Graveyard
is a Dragon-Type Normal Monster, you can send 1 more
Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.
You can only activate 1 "Dragon Shrine" per turn.
Well Card of the Day is back and for this short
week, we are looking at the new cards from the new
Saga of Blue-Eyes White Dragon Structure Deck. First
off is Dragon Shrine, a new spell card which you can
only activate once per turn.
That means it has to have a good effect and it does.
At first glance it is just a limited version of
Foolish Burial as you can only send Dragons, but
with Burial at one if you are playing Dragons this
would be a boost. But there’s more to this card, if
the card in question was a Normal Dragon you can
send another Dragon to the graveyard. So it is a
double Foolish Burial. Of course this cards works in
nearly all Dragon Decks and this card works for
Gemini Monsters as well since they are treated as
Normal Monsters in the Graveyard.
Overall if you are a dragon player and you need
Dragons in your Graveyard ( a lot of them like that
idea), then this card is a must. Of course if you
don’t play Dragons avoid.

How’s it going, Pojo? It’s been a little while
since my last CotD; college and other things have
been getting in the way. It seems like I picked a
good time to come back; this week we’re reviewing
three cards from the new Saga of the Blue-Eyes White
Dragon Structure Deck. Today’s card is Dragon’s
Shrine:
Normal Spell Card
Send 1 Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to the
Graveyard, then, if that monster in your Graveyard
is a Dragon-Type Normal Monster, you can send 1 more
Dragon-Type monster from your Deck to the Graveyard.
You can only activate 1 "Dragon Shrine" per turn.
This card is a more specific version of Foolish
Burial, but in the right Deck it proves to be more
powerful. The right Deck is obviously the Blue-Eyes
Deck, as there are enough Normal Dragons to get the
effect twice.
Sending Blue-Eyes is the most obvious play, and
you can send The White Stone of Legend after to add
another Blue-Eyes to your hand, or a Lightpulsar or
Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon if you are taking a
Chaos route. Another target is Darkstorm Dragon, as
it is treated as a Normal Monster in the Graveyard.
The card has potential in Blue-Eyes variants of
Dragon Ruler as well, as a method of quickly getting
several Dragons into your hand/Graveyard. This idea
would probably rely on running extra copies of
Flamvell Guard.
I feel this card is underrated. However, I feel
that it also hasn’t found the right place for it to
work. This card holds a lot of potential, and I can
see it growing stronger over time.
Traditional: 2/5 (You probably won’t see a lot
Normal Dragons here. But 2-card Chaos Emperor
Dragons are always good.)
Advanced: 3/5
Art: 2/5 (Not entirely sure what the Shrine is
supposed to look like. It’s honestly confusing to
me.)
Tomorrow: Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.
And this woman holds the power of the BLUE-EYES
WHITE DRAGON!!!
