Tuesday
Welcome to Ban List Week Part Dues, we had yesterday
off in honor of Labor Day, but you get two cards
today. First up is Evigishki Mind Augus. The
Evigishki Archtype is an interesting and powerful
one, yet unreliable. As most of its Monsters are
Rituals, it's a difficult to Deck to function
properly. The Rituals are easy enough to Summon
however, as they can be Summoned with any Gishki
Ritual card, although some of those cards, and the
Monsters, are still only Japanese. Augus is
Restricted, and in my opinion, I suppose if you
could get this Deck to run three, and actually pull
the effect off all three times for mass advantage,
than it makes sense. This Monster is Level 6, with
2500 attack and 2000 defense, and an Aqua type,
Water Monster. When Ritual Summoned, you can target
5 cards in either player's Graveyard, and shuffle
those targets back into the Deck. You can use this
offensively and defensively. For yourself to reuse
resources as part of a combo, or against your
opponent to prevent them from a game breaking move.

Evigishki Mind Augus
WATER/Aqua/Ritual/Effect/Level6/2500/2000
Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be
Ritual Summoned. You can Ritual Summon this card
with any "Gishki" Ritual Spell Card. When this card
is Ritual Summoned: Target up to 5 cards in any
Graveyard(s); shuffle those targets to the Deck.
September 2013 Status: Limited from Unlimited
It has been a while since we saw a Ritual anywhere
on the banned list, but here were are, Evigishki
Mind Augus has gone from Unlimited to Limited.
Statswise it is never good 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF are
very good for a level 6 and it is a WATER/Aqua so it
has plenty of support. In order to get Evigishki
Mind Augus you need to use any Gishki Ritual, if
only all rituals where this flexible.
Evigishki Mind Augus’s effect is an interesting one,
granted it is a one-off effect but the ability to
return up to 5 cards from any graveyard back into
the deck. This is quite useful, allowing you to
recycle important cards, conserve your deck size or
disrupt your opponent’s plans. Of course it is a
ritual monster so it has all the problems associated
with them.
Overall while only really playable in Gishki decks
its stats and effect do make it one of the more
playable rituals around.

We continue our review of cards affected by the
Forbidden/Limited List. This week’s set of cards
have all been Limited. Today’s card is Evigishki
Mind Augus:
“Level 6
WATER
Aqua / Ritual / Effect
2500 ATK / 2000 DEF
Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. Must first be
Ritual Summoned. You can Ritual Summon this card
with any “Gishki” Ritual Spell Card. When this card
is Ritual Summoned, Target up to 5 cards in any
Graveyard(s): shuffle those targets to the Deck.”
Now, I’m not entirely well versed in the art of
Gishki, but I do know they’re infamous for causing a
lot of loops and FTKs. One of them, the Hieratic
Gustkraken Loop, was nerfed back in September 2012
by the Limiting of Gustkraken itself.
Mind Augus was, from what I’ve heard, part of an
infinite draw loop that would eventually result in
the opponent Decking Out. This loop supposedly
required the use of two Mind Augus, so Limiting it
just makes it impossible, while keeping non-FTK
based Gishki Decks intact.
Outside of that, the card is pretty subpar, even by
Gishki standards, as it doesn’t cause immediate
advantage. It’s still usable, but it’s not like it
was horrendously broken or anything.
