"Dark Magician Girl" + 1 Dragon-Type monster Must be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Material Monsters or with "The Eye of Timaeus", and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard, then target 1 face-up card on the field; destroy that target.

Dark Magician Girl, the Dragon Knight (comma inserted by me) is a Level 7, Dark attributed, Dragon-type Fusion Monster. Must be Fusion Summoned with Dark Magician Girl and one Dragon-type Monster, or the Eye of Timaeus. 2600 attack isn't bad for a Level 7, and the 1900 defense isn't horrid either, but a bit low. This card is actually a bit better than it was on the cartoon, as instead of having to attack, it simply gets to destroy via effect. Once a turn, during either players' turn, you can discard a card from your Hand to target and destroy a card on the Field. No specification as to what type, or face-up or face-down. The only real buzzkill to this card is that it cannot be Special Summoned outside of a Fusion Summon. A balanced 1-for-1 you can use on either players' turn is fun though, but she is very likely for fun only.

Next up in our Dragons of Legends week, we go back to Yugi Moto for Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight, a common fusion during Waking the Dragons.

Statwise it is a fusion of "Dark Magician Girl" + 1 Dragon-Type monster, at least it has one non-specific material which is always a plus with fusions. It has 2600 ATK, good for a level 7 and 1700 DEF which isn’t so good.

Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight can also be Fusion summoned by "The Eye of Timaeus"; which is interesting to give a fusion monster an alternate summoning condition but there’s nothing wrong with that. What is wrong is the terrible “cannot be Special Summoned by other ways” condition that Konami just love to put on fusions. Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight’s main effect is a limited version of Raigeki Break. It requires you to discard a card, but it only targets face-up cards. On the plus side it is a quick effect which is really nice.

Overall, a solid fusion; good ATK, a nice quick effect and an alternate summoning condition. Shame that the effect is limited to face-ups and that horrible “cannot be Special Summoned by other ways” condition. Not for all decks but could be fun in a Yugi deck

Hello Pojo Fans,

Today we're reviewing the card I was beyond pumped to get in the Dragons of Legend set: Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight. Major fan of Spellcasters and DMG in general, so I've been waiting since seeing her appear in the Doma arc. A Dragon-Type monster, Dark-Attribute, Level 7, 2600ATK/2100DEF. You will need "Dark Magician Girl" + 1 Dragon-Type monster. “Must be Fusion Summoned with the above Fusion Material Monsters or with "The Eye of Timaeus", and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. Once per turn, during either player's turn: You can send 1 card from your hand to the Graveyard, then target 1 face-up card on the field; destroy that target.”

Though she can only be Fusion Summoned, DMG the Dragon Knight can still be brought relatively easy to the field. Polymerization works, but being a Dragon-Type Fusion monster allows Dragon's Mirror to work as well. Being able to use “The Eye of Timaeus” on Dark Magician Girl to Fusion Summon DMG the Dragon Knight makes things a little easier to get this monster out. Elemental Hero Prisma can also send her from the Deck to the Graveyard to become her, then use “The Eye of Timaeus” and bring her out that way. Sending one card during either players turn to the grave to destroy one face-up monster is a great effect. DMG the Dragon Knight can clear the way for your other monsters, or seriously disrupt your opponents strategy at the cost of one card per turn.

DMG the Dragon Knight is still a Fusion Monster, and only being able to be Special Summoned by Fusion Summon does restrict her playability. You can't drop her into any Extra Deck, you have to be playing a strategy that will effectively bring her to the field. She needs her own deck around herself, but Dark monsters and Fusion monsters have plenty of support behind them, so it isn't completely out of the question that she could thrive somewhere.

Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight

Dark Magician Girl is without a doubt a YGO icon.  Yes, her art direction has always been a bit sexist, but she's also a long-enduring colorful personality-filled character that I wouldn't want YGO to be without.  Fuse her and all her charm with a dragon, and thematically, you get a pretty amazing idea.  And a card that is pretty cool to have in your collection.

As far as functionality goes, not so much.  Fusions, on the whole, aren't worth their costs.  While her removal effect is nice, having to discard to activate it cancels out your plus one.  Would've been a nice card as a generic Lv7 Synchro but as a fusion that specifically requires DMG and a Dragon in an era where 2600 ATK isn't amazingly good, it would have needed quite a bit more to it to make it worth using.

Worst of all, from a gameplay perspective, it means you have to use Dark Magician Girl, who is a dead-draw 99% of the time so that brings this card down even more.

Terrorking And now the week has slowed down to a crawl. Feel despair as we move from the powerful to the "meh"-ful.

Hello, my pretties, and welcome to the review of Dark Magician Girl the Dragon Knight. First of all, why is she never wearing pants? You'd think a knight would want to protect his/her legs because of those pesky archers/magic fireball hurlers etc... Anyway, card's pretty weak. There's no real combos with it, it's not particularly powerful, and pretty much any Rank 4 or Synchro monster is a better decision than playing this card. This is trashy nostalgia bait.

Konami, a word of advice: if you intend to release cards 10 years past their relevancy, try making them stronger, while retaining the spirit of the card. You'd do well to take this advice, blokes.
