Happy Friday! Welcome
to Duelist Alliance, as today is the new booster
set's official release date.
This also brings a conclusion to trap week.
The past few years, the XYZ era, have been
full of trap cards to stop XYZ monsters' ignition
effects.
Maybe with Pendulums, we might see a more aggressive
spell-based format.
We'll find out.
But today, is the mascot of the new set (and protagonist monster
of the new Arc-V series), Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon!!
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon
First thing you'll notice is that its a way better version of the
original Odd-Eyes Dragon.
It definitely challenges the monopoly the
mediocre Stargazer and Timegazer Magicians have on
the Pendulum game.
It also is superior to most, if not all, the
other Pendulum cards in the set.
As a monster, it has the standard 2500 ATK, but its ability has
faint OTK potential.
You can Pendulum Summon it while it is
face-up in the Extra Deck or from your hand.
The damage this card can do to your opponent
depends on the disparity of the battle.
Against a 2000-2400 monster, it is weak, but if you can battle a
vulnerable monster or find a way to raise this
card's ATK, you can do serious damage (3000 and up).
But its monster ability is a nice little
bonus, when you can Special Summon it for free.
As a Pendulum, it really shines.
Reducing battle damage in a battle involving
a Pendulum monster is a nice ability that will come
in handy when more Pendulum monsters come out.
Until then,
the best aspect of this card is the searching
ability.
You can add 1 1500 or less ATK Pendulum Monster from
your deck to your hand during your End Phase.
Pendulums lack searchers in general, so this
card will make a big impact toward Pendulum based
decks.
Lastly, it's a scale-4 meaning, you'll usually use this card as
the lesser pendulum to summon LV5 and higher
monsters when you have the high-scale on the right.
This card can search both Timegazer Magician
and Stargazer Magician.
You can add whichever one you need for the
situation.
Assessments
Power – 3/5 ; This card will be known more for its searching ability
than power
Versatility – 3/5 ; The
whole Pendulum mechanic may suffer from versatility
issues but
Accessibility –
4/5 ; Improves the consistency of the deck for sure.
Pendulum decks will now have 9 Pendulums
(including 3 of these).
And this card could turn itself into either
side of the scale.
Card Advantage –
3/5 ; With its searching ability, its a 1-for-1.
Speed – 3/5 ; Having to wait until the End Phase slows down this card,
but this card speeds up the deck overall.
The End Phase clause was fair to prevent
potential OTK's though.
Ratings
Traditional – 2.5/5 ; The
best Pendulum option the format, if Pendulum
Summoning is even worth it.
Advanced – 3.5/5 ; This card, with its
searching ability will get Pendulum based decks off
the ground.
Mechanic Design – 3.5/5 ; A balanced
multi-faceted card, and the most interesting known
Pendulum monster yet.
Artwork
– 3/5 – The starry spacey background with orbed and
clad dragons thing is getting a little old, but it
still looks nice.
Verdict
If you are interested in Pendulums, this is the card to get.

Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon
This card review realistically could be one of the
more simple card reviews EVER!!!
After all, how to use this card can be found in the
“Beginners Guide” to the Space-Time Showdown Super
Starter… How EASY is that?
In a nutshell you place Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon
into one of your Pendulum Zones, and then during
your End Phase, you use it’s Pendulum effect to
destroy this card and then you add 1 Pendulum
monster with 1500 ATK or less from your Deck to your
hand.
This is currently going to be put to best use in
adding either Stargazer Magician or Timegazer
Magician from your Deck to your Hand.
Since Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon has been destroyed
(by it’s effect) it goes on top of the Extra Deck
face-up. Keep in mind though that any time a
Pendulum monster is Destroyed regardless of whether
it’s treated as a monster or a spell, it is sent
instead to the Extra Deck.
For it’s second effect the doubling of battle damage
could prove to be quite the nasty effect… There is a
combo involving Scrap Golem, Scrap Goblin, O-EPD and
5000 LP’s of damage! Potentially game ending damage.
Each effect of O-EPD can only be used once per turn,
but this doesn’t effect that this card currently is
the best Pendulum monster, and it’s going to be one
of those cards that holds it’s value… At least for a
little while.
Traditional: 1. I simply do not see this young
Summoning type impacting on this Format, maybe later
this would change, but currently no impact.
Advanced: 4. This may be an overly high score, but
since it’s both a search card and a pendulum monster
all wrapped into one, as well as the “Chase” card
for Pendulums currently, gives me good cause to give
a good rating for this card.
Watch this space for this card and Pendulums…

Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon
Wrapping up this week and to celebrate the release
of Duelist Alliance we look at Yuya’s ace monster
Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon. Yeah it’s not a trap but
that is why you got two yesterday.
Statwise it is a DARK/Dragon which is good with 2500
ATK not the best for a level but standard for a main
hero’s monster and 2000 DEF again not the best. It
has a Pendulum Scale of 4 which isn’t really great
as it does limit you to either low level or high
level monsters depending where you put him. Of
course he does make sure the Pendulum Magicians do
keep their scales but it is better to just use them
in combination with each other.
Pendulum Effectwise it has two; first off it can
reduce the battle damage involving a Pendulum
Monster to 0. It doesn’t save the monster but you
will probably be able to resummons it on your next
turn and still taking no damage it better than
nothing. The second Pendulum Effect allows you to
destroy this card and add 1500 ATK or less Pendulum
Monster from your deck to your hand. Chances
are you will go for one of the Pendulum Magicians as
they are currently your best and nearly only choice
until more are released.
Monster Effectwise; it doubles all battle damage it
inflicts but only if this battles a monster.
It does have 2500 ATK so it can make some use of its
effect but it is annoying it only applies to
battling other monsters but then again hitting the
opponent with 5000 damage from a direct attack might
be overkill.
Of course with this guy’s level and the lack of an
alternate summoning condition, chances are you will
be doing a Yuya and Pendulum Summoning this guy
using both Pendulum Magicians.
Overall, a decent monster, while his Pendulum
Effects are nice, his scale isn’t great and more
often than not you will be Pendulum Summoning this
guy rather than using him to Pendulum Summon.
Traditional: 3/5
Advanced: 3/5

"-Eyes" is only cool on Blue-Eyes and Red-Eyes.
All other "-eyes" are dumb. Garbage-Eyes? Garbage.
Galaxy-Eyes? Trash. Odd-Eyes? COMPOST!
Hello and welcome to another review by
Terrorking. Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon, unlike its
non-Pendulum counterpart, is actually good. What you
do with this is summon it, do damage, then sack it
during your End Phase and search out any 1500 ATK or
less Pendulum monster (like the Magicians, most of
the cards you'll be seeing from Yuya in Yu-Gi-Oh Arc
V, most Konami-original Pendulums and from many more
coming forward). Further, since this is a Pendulum,
when it is destroyed it goes to your Extra Deck, so
you can just summon it from there during your next
turn and do this all over again.
And remember, you can just put this into the
Pendulum Zone, then destroy it and you get all your
combos started. It's never ever dead. It's a +1 each
turn. Right now, this is THE Pendulum monsters. Its
effects are pretty inconsequential, but if it
manages to get an attack off and does damage, double
the amount it did. Cool, I guess.
Advanced: 4/5
Traditional: 3/5. Pendulums will be getting 3s since
they're FTK enablers by letting you summon a bunch
of monsters from your hand and boosting consistency.
If that monster has another FTK-enabling effect, the
score will rise.

Odd-Eyes Pendulum Dragon
Today is the day Duelist Alliance drops in stores,
hopefully some of you already got access to these at
your local Sneak Peek(I snagged me an ulti, gorgeous
thing). So we finally have a little bit more
pendulum support in Odd Eyes. As a stand alone out
of the hand monster, it's pretty meh. Your standard
Hero of the series stats, 7 stars, 2500 atk. The
monster effect isn't bad, it doubles damage dealt to
a monster meaning hitting a 1k monster like a tour
guide will deal 3000 in damage. The pendulum effect,
however, is where OEPD really shines. Either A) It
reduces battle damage to a pendulum monster to zero,
though I just don't see that being a necessity, or
B) During the end phase you can destroy it and add a
pendulum with less than 1500 atk to your hand.
Obviously destroying it puts it face up on the extra
deck while searching, say, one of the Gazer
Magicians from Space Time Showdown. Once they're in
play, OEPD becomes live again via pendulum summon
out of the extra deck and setting up almost any
further summon or simply placing a nearly free 2500
beater on the field. Like I said, coming out of the
hand is bad, but coming out of the extra I have zero
issues with. This was the card that made Pendulum
Scraps actually work in the videos and can make the
pendulum mechanic a lil more consistent for your
real life deck
Traditional 1.75/5 - Good but I don't see the
mechanic working in traditional right now
Advanced 4/5 - I see good things coming from Odd
Eyes in the future. At least til NECH hits in
November though |

It's in with the new as we end the week with the
latest set and it's cover card and the ace monster
of Arc-V's main protagonist, Yuya Sakaki, Odd Eyes
Pendulum Dragon. If history has taught us anything,
if you are the main character in a yu-gi-oh! anime,
your ace monster will have 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF.
And yep, Odd Eyes has that. A level 7 DARK/Dragon
type, it is also one of the new type of half
monster/half spell card, a pendulum monster. You can
place Odd Eyes in one of the new pendulum zones (I
think that's what they're called) and use it's scale
of 4 to help summon monsters between level 5 and
whatever the other scale of the other pendulum
monster is. Odd Eyes has several separate effects.
One is when it's used in the pendulum zone, it can
turn the battle damage from a pendulum monster you
control to 0 once per turn. 0 damage is always good.
Second effect while in the pendulum zone is that you
can destroy this card and get a pendulum monster
with 1500 ATK from your deck to your hand. That's
not bad, as it replaces itself. Odd Eyes regular
monster effect is you double the damage when Odd
Eyes battles another monster, sure why not. Odd Eyes
was made to be special summoned through pendulum
means, as it is a 2 tribute monster. Overall, this
card has more use in the pendulum zone rather than
on the field itself, unless you have to do a lot of
damage in one turn.
Traditional: 2.5 (It is DARK, that counts for
something)
Advanced: 3
