Shaddoll Beast
Shaddoll Beast is the big monster of the main deck.
At 2200 ATK, it can manage some threats that
the 1800-1900 Dragon and Squamata can't, but
overall, you're best in leaving the offense to your
Extra Deck.
Sometimes its worth the tribute summon, and if you want to run
Majesty's Fiend in the deck, this card is another
target for The Monarchs StormForth.
But usually, you want to Special Summon this
card.
This is ideally the card you use Falco's flip effect on, like 80%
of the time.
Unless you really need Hedgehog's search or
Squamata's removal.
Mathematician cannot dump LV5 or higher monsters from the deck,
but if you use Mathematician's effect to dump
Squamata, you can also dump Beast to draw.
You usually want Shaddoll Beast to be the first Shaddoll you dump
to your grave so you can combo it with Falco later
on.
The best thing about Shaddoll Beast is that the draw effect is
something you'll never not want.
The opponent might not have Spells/Traps for
Dragon to destroy.
You might not need any Shaddoll monsters in
your hand via Hedgehog.
You may not want a Defense Position Falco via
Falco's effect yet.
But you're always going to want a free draw.
Some players want to cut this to two because they don't want it
in their hand.
Yeah, you can still use it for Shaddoll
Fusion in your hand, but this is not a monster you
want in your hand for the summoning aspect of it.
Other players will love draw power each turn
and want to run 3.
Assessments
Power – 4/5 ; It has the strongest Flip Effect of the bunch.
In addition to granting you brand new cards,
it lets you dump a card.
You can dump a Shaddoll to trigger an effect
or dump a dead card.
Versatility – 4/5 ; There
won't be a single moment where you wouldn't want
draw power.
Unlike, let's say, Squamata's monster removal
effect, if the opponent only controls a floater.
Dependability –
3/5 ; Being at LV5, its harder to bring out.
And rarely worth the tribute Set.
Thankfully, you can discard it, but it's not
a card you would be enthusiastic to draw into.
You'd rather be milling it.
Card Advantage –
4/5 ; The draw 2 cards and discard 1 effect is
essentially a plus, especially because the discard
triggers an effect.
The grave effect is a good 1-for-1.
Speed – 3/5 ; Flip effects are slow, but since its graveyard effect
nets you a card that you could use immediately, it
gets high marks on speed.
Ratings
Traditional – 3.5/5 ; It's
like a second Broww.
A DARK for Chaos.
Helps draw power too.
Advanced – 3.75/5 ; Gets some of points
docked off for being harder to summon but is overall
as good as the others.
Mechanic Design – 3/5 ; Giving it the most
powerful flip effect at the cost of it being a
tribute monster was a fair deal.
Artwork
– 4/5 ; Love the amount of detail and sharpness of
this drawing.
---
Verdict
A big cumbersome draw machine that helps the consistency of the
deck.
Run 2-3.
