Queen Angel of Roses is a beautiful looking card, but is she as beautiful to play?  Level 7, Earth, Plant, but only 2400 attack and an equally appalling 1300 defense.  Well for a positive start, if you Tribute a Plant, you can Tribute her for one as opposed to two Monsters, so long as you place her in Attack position.  That's good, essentially making her a Level 6 2400 attacker, and the extra star only comes in handy for XYZ or Synchro.  Once a turn, during your Standby Phase, you destroy a face-up Monster on the Field with the lowest attack, and you get to choose, if tied.  Obviously we'd prefer the highest attack Monster I feel, but this effect isn't totally worthless.  I mean, it really can hurt weak Monsters with "I only get my effect by being destroyed in Battle" as opposed directly sent to the Graveyard.  But even in Plants I'm not sure you'd use her.

From a Yusei manga monster to an Aki manga monster in fact her main monster for most of the series; Queen Angel of Roses. Statwise, it is an EARTH/Plant so it has support with 2400 ATK a common but not a great ATK for a level 7 and 1300 DEF which is just bad.
 
Effectwise it has two; the first is the important alternate summoning condition, in this case 1 Plant monster for a 2 tribute monster. This does not only help with the summoning but makes the 2400 ATK a bit easier to swallow. The second effect destroys the monster with the lowest ATK during the Standby Phase. This can be a double edge sword as shown by Aki herself as there is a chance it could be one of your monsters and in the worse-case scenario this card that ends up being destroyed. Destruction effects are all well and good but they are better when they don’t blow up your own monsters.
 
Overall poor stats for a level 7 combined with an effect that could easily backfire means this card isn’t worth being put in Plant decks.

Hey there everyone.  I don't know how many of you are enjoying the snowpocalypse that is raging through the south right now, but I certainly am.  We look today at a card that would certainly not be happy in winter weather, that being Queen Angel of Roses.

What you get here is a 2400 beater who can be summoned for one tribute if the tribute is a plant monster.  Given that this is level 7, 2400 is a bit low, but since you'd only play this in a plant deck anyway the 2400 for one tribute is the industry standard.  The other effect is that during each of your standby phases, you get to (must) destroy the monster on the field with the lowest attack.  This could go in your favor or not depending on how the field looks.

So is this worth your time?  Well, for your tribute you can also bring out Gigaplant, who has the same attack but with a Gemini Summon becomes an immensely useful summoning engine.  If you bring him out with Lonefire, you can start summoning that turn.  If you bring this out with Lonefire, you..  get a beater.  Of course if we're talking about Lonefire you can just use it to bring out a Plant Princess of some flavor which will be an even bigger beater with a useful effect.

And then we come to another problem, speaking of the princesses; she's level 7.  With the way the plant deck is heading, with Sylvans on their way in with great support coming in Primal Origin, you don't need level 7, you need 8.  All of the plant princesses are level 8, as is the big Sylvan Tree dude that everyone runs in that.  With Lonefire Blossom at two, you can run any plant you want with impunity, so why waste that opportunity on this?  Bring out a princess or Regia and start going to town.  You don't need this card.

Been sidelined with a cold the past few days, but finally got off my behind and to the keyboard for a Card of The Day. This Thursday we've got Queen Angel of Roses. An Earth, Plant-type monster, Level 7 with 2400ATK/1300DEF, Queen's stats don't look that great until her effect comes into play. “You can Tribute Summon this card in face-up Attack Position by Tributing 1 Plant-Type monster. Once per turn, during your Standby Phase: Destroy the 1 face-up monster on the field with the lowest ATK (your choice, if tied).”
 
You won't be playing her in anything other than a Plant-based deck, so the level shouldn't really hurt her. One plant monster needed for a sacrifice isn't hard at all to come up with, especially if playing Naturia Pineapple. Plant-based searchers like Violet Witch and Lonefire Blossom can help bring this card to your hand or field respectively. Killing the lowest attack monster on the field during your Standby Phase can lead to a possible open field. Play Black Garden after summoning Queen, and you will likely not need to worry about losing her to her own effect. There is some pretty good Plant-type and Earth-attribute support out there to help this card.
 
Topdecking this card makes you feel like you got a thorn in your eye. Her stats don't hold up for a level seven monster, even with the added bonus of needing only one tribute if its a plant. She has to survive to your next Standby Phase to gain her effect, and it can't touch facedown monsters. Your opponent can set a monster, end turn, then your Queen will destroy herself, not good. The best way to get her effect would be to bring her back in your End Phase when your opponent has a big monster on the field and nuke it in your Standby Phase with her effect.

7 stars is a bit excessive for a 2400 attack monster. It's kind of cool that it lets you destroy a monster each turn... you will be blowing up your own stuff if you're up on field advantage though. It's kind of cool you can summon it by tributing a plant monster & it will count as both tributes...Truthfully though, Caius the Shadow Monarch does everything this monster does better.

Queen Angel of Roses

Despite requiring a Plant deck to even be remotely playable, it doesn't do anything to particularly support Plants either. The fact that you have to wait a turn to activate it's removal effect and that you don't even get to choose which monster is being destroyed (it could very well be your own monster for one reason or another), makes this card problematic. The only way you gain advantage from it is if you can keep it alive for 2 or more turns, which is not common in such a fast-paced game.

2400 ATK for a 1-tribute (in Plants) and a plausible removal effect prevent this card from being total garbage, but it still has too much going against it, and 99% of the time you're better off using a “Monarch” monster instead.
