Wednesday
Finishing the Gravekeeper portion of the week is
Gravekeeper's Oracle, a brute of a Monster, at least
in terms of Level, being Level 10. Might help if
you're playing any Rank 10 XYZ in your Deck. This
is a Dark, Spellcaster Monster, with only 2000
attack and 1500 defense. It gains various effects
based on the number of Monsters used to Tribute
Summon, from 1-3...although can be Tribute Summoned
simply with 1 Gravekeeper. To gain the effects,
however, you must use Gravekeeper's. The effects
activate and resolve, and you can use any you wish.
Being gaining attack equal the the Levels of total
Gravekeeper's Tributed x100. May not seem like
much, and even to give up three Monsters for one, at
three Level 4 you're only at 3200. Good attack, but
a waste of resources one might say. Destroying all
Set Monsters your opponent controls is good, almost
like this guy is angry he can't be Tribute set.
And/or all Monsters your opponent controls lose
2000 attack and defense. There's your money effect,
especially since this guy starts off with only 2000
as is. This one I wouldn't say is a necessity in
the Deck (again unless you can pull of Rank 10 XYZ).
Better than Monday, worse than yesterday

Happy Wednesday folks. Today
we look at Gravekeeper's Oracle, a new boss monster
for the Gravekeeper deck.
Now generally, being a boss monster implies a good
effect. However, Oracle requires up to 3 tributes
to gain his maximum potential, and while his maximum
potential is impressive, it's really not worth your
time. Generally you want to keep a rhythm going of
popping cards with Descendant, searching with the
Recruiter you just popped, setting Spies and
Nobleman, and generally keeping a field presence.
Giving it all up for this one monster is not worth
it. Yes, you can bring it out with Nobleman, but
then you get no effects so it's a wasted beater. If
you want to run a Gravekeeper boss monster, stick to
Visionary. At least with Nobleman out now he's a
bit more useful than he used to be. Stay away from
this.

Out of all of the support the Gravekeeper's
Archetype has been receiving lately, there isn't
much use for Oracle in the deck. A level 10 monster
with only 2000 attack and 1500 defence, Oracle isn't
exactly the boss monster you've been expecting.
Necrovalley will go a long way to make this card
stronger, but even still, the effects here don't
warrant a tribute.
If you choose to activate the first effect, you
will most likely gain 400 attack. Even assuming
Necrovalley is active on the field, this would bring
Oracle's attack total to just 2900, which isn't very
strong for a tribute summoned monster. The second
effect to destroy all set monster your opponent
controls isn't really much better. It would have
gone a long way had the effect read "destroy all set
cards your opponent controls" instead. The last
effect of reads "All monsters your opponent
currently controls lose 2000 ATK and DEF. Activating
this effect will at least allow you to get over
almost any problematic monster, but is that really
worth a potential dead draw of a resource
Gravekeeper's Oracle might very well end up being?
All in all, Gravekeeper's Oracle does nothing to
boost the archetypes consistency. It is a somewhat
difficult monster to utilize when compared to other
options and in the end, it provides lackluster
effects.

Mechanic Design: 1/5 (Gravekeeper's Oracle is really
a missed opportunity for the archetype. With 3
different effects and being a level 10 monster, this
card could have been so much more, and a true boss
to keep Gravekeeper's relevant in the meta.
Unfortunately, it just cannot live up to its
reputation.)

Gravekeeper's Oracle
It's a high level Gravekeeper monster, and that's
bad, I know. Especially in a deck that doesn't
Special Summon often and needs every Normal Summon
it can get. But this is an incredibly versatile
flexible card. You can summon it with 1 tribute, 2
tributes, or 3 tributes. Heck, with GK Nobleman, you
can even summon it with no tribute. And it becomes a
2500 beater with Necrovalley.
The option to chose which effect(s) you want to
activate is really helpful as effect 2 and 3 vary in
their usage. Chances are, most of the time, it won't
be economical to use 3 tributes, but, hey, the
option is still there. The best part about this card
is that you can just tribute 1 monster and gain any
of the 3 effects depending on your situation (which
would probably make for like 90% of this card's
usage).
It's effects won't be always useful, and this
especially depends on format. This card suffers in
Traditional because effects 2 and 3 rely on your
opponent caring about their field setup in such a
disposable format. In Advanced, though, it can be
useful.

This guy needs to find a mirror (yes, those
existed in Ancient Egypt) and cut off that fuzz on
his face. Hello, my dear readers, and welcome once
more to another review.
Gravekeeper's Oracle is a terrible card and you
have no business using it. See, you can summon this
off of Nobleman's effect, but then you'd just have a
vanilla beater that does nothing. Sure it has 2500
ATK with Necrovalley up, but just about every Rank 4
can run it over and you run the risk of drawing into
this card and having it be dead in your hand. Now
let's assume you somehow manage to tribute the
monsters necessary to summon it: it'll clear your
opponent's field, have a little less than 4000 ATK
and reduces all opponent's monsters by 2000. Not
very good. You're better off running Sky Dragon of
Osiris/Slifer the Sky Dragon or Obelisk the
Tormentor. You're also cooler for doing so.
