Friday
I really should have done yesterdays card today,
just cause it was that cool. But Leo, the Keeper of
the Sacred Tree, as we move from XYZ to Synchro. Leo
is a Level 10 Synchro Monster, which likely means
three Monsters for a Synchro Summon. This is a Beast
(good enough) Earth (fine) Monster, with 3100 attack
(very good) and 1900 defense (very not so good). So,
this face-up card cannot be targeted by your
opponent's card effects, except during your Main
Phase 2. In Beast, you play this, outside, he's not
bad, that's a lot of protection. He's just too
random, and a brute, and one that's Level 10...not
room in the Extra Deck, however, doesn't mean bad.

Happy Friday everyone! We
conclude this magical week with a look at a scarce
commodity these days; a new Synchro monster!
This fellow is a 3100 attack point beater of the
level 10 flavor. He is a generic level 10 and
requires only a tuner and non-tuner, so you can
bring him out with as few resources as you want.
However, if you're not running a deck that
specifically summons level 10 Synchros (soooooo
Nordics?) you probably won't make much use of him.
If you can splash him though, by all means do it,
it's not a bad card by any means.
You see, the effect, while simple, is really not
bad. He can only be targeted by your opponent
during your Main Phase 2. This is delightful, since
you can summon him in main phase 1 and beat on your
opponent before they can activate most of the common
responses. He's immune to the like of D-prison,
Book, Compulse, Lance/Dress, and anything else that
may be archetype-specific. Like most monsters
though, he'll fall to Warning, Bottomless, or Mirror
Force, but really, who doesn't? You can't really
hold that against him.
All in all, a lovely edition to the extra deck
lineup. His unique effect will protect him when
it's important, his high attack will make him
difficult to beat directly in battle, and the ease
with which you can summon him might turn two weaker
monsters into the game-winning card. Definitely not
a bad little guy at all.
Traditional: 1/5, There are other, more beloved
synchros here
Advanced: 3/5, not bad at all
Art: 4.5/5
Thanks for reading and have a great weekend!

Hello Pojo Fans,
TGIF to all of you. Today we're looking at a really
big Synchro monster: Leo, the Keeper of the Sacred
Tree. Leo is an Earth Beast Synchro monster, level
10, 3100ATK/1900DEF that takes 1 Tuner and 1 or more
non-Tuner monsters. Leo, while face-up on the field
cannot be targeted by your opponent's card effects,
except during your Main Phase 2.
Earth monsters and Beast-type monsters have support
backing them, so there is no shortage of ways to
bring Leo to the field for those decks, but without
any restriction on materials, any deck could play
Leo. If you run a level 2 Tuner, all you need is two
level 4 monsters. A level 6 monster and a level 4
Tuner will also do, or a level 2 Tuner and a level 8
monster. Its attack will allow you to go over most
troublesome monsters, and its effect will ensure
that it will be safe from targeting effects until
after you have attacked with it.
Level 10 Synchro monsters aren't popular. If a
player brings out a level 10 Synchro, it's usually a
themed monster for their deck (Shoot Star Dragon,
the Nordic Synchros, etc). Leo's effect isn't full
protection for itself, and your opponent may be fine
with waiting until Main Phase 2 to activate
something to take down your beasty Synchro. Enemy
Controller and Book of Moon make Leo easy pickings
next turn, while Phoenix Wing Wind and Compulse take
care of it all-together. It can be handy, but
there's better monsters to Synchro out.

Leo Keeper of the Sacred Tree
LV10 Synchro. Strong stats. And a protection effect
that will protect you the majority of the time of
the time. Add the fact that this card can't be
bested in battle, and you have a nice combination.
Basically, the only cards that can target this card
is already-Set quick-play-spells and chainable trap
cards. But it's still entirely vulnerable to cards
like Torrential Tribute, Mirror Force and Dark Hole.
So, if you want to fully protect this guy, you will
have to have the rest of your deck pick up the pace.
Also, keep in mind that LV10 is a tall order. You'll
need at least 1 tribute monster in there or at least
3 lower level monsters. But there are ways to
exploit it. Perhaps, Metal Reflect Slime and Level
Eater for example. So, this card has potential if
LV10 Synchro's ever get easy to summon. It's a very
capable beater in Advanced Format, worth the cost if
you can meet the cost. How playable this card
becomes, we will see. But it has potential!

Duel Terminal's over, but it seems like every
single set adds more cards to that jumbled
storyline. This card, the one that shall be reviewed
right now, is no exception Hello and welcome, my
little guppies.
In Duel Terminal games, there was no Main Phase
2, so this card has no protection for it. At least,
that's what I think the card designers were going
for. With this card you're basically guaranteed to
do damage, so you'll get off an attack and then if
you're not particularly lucky, your opponent
activates something to get rid of it once your
Battle Phase ends. Be aware though that you can't
"skip" your Main Phase 2. Even if you do nothing
after your battle phase, you still have to go to
Main Phase 2, and then the End Phase. Level 10
Synchros haven't been that great, so this card
really has no competition to speak of. If you can
run it, you should.
Countering Leo, the Keeper of the Sacred Tree:
non-targeting removal or targeting removal during
the main phase 2.
Advanced: 3/5
Traditional: 1.5/5 (you need a lot more protection
to sit on the field in Traditional)
Art: 1/5. Whoever drew this card should've stopped
way before adding those wings, insect-like
protrusions and white armor. Yes, it's referencing
that it's made up of multiple pieces, but a good
artist can find ways of doing so without cluttering
the card. Awful art.
