 Bujin Arasuda
- #LVAL-EN026

If a "Bujin" monster in your Graveyard or face-up on your side of the field is banished (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand in face-up Defense Position. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if a "Bujin" card was added from your Deck to your hand this turn, except by drawing it, while you controlled this face-up card: You can draw 1 card, then discard 1 card. You can only control 1 "Bujin Arasuda".

Bujin Arasuda is our card today. I don't like the Bujin Archtype. I'm not sure why, I'm just overall not a fan. Having said that, this is a good card for its theme. Light is good, Beast-Warrior is well supported and fits the Deck well enough. 1600 attack is a bit low for a Level 4, but the 1900 defense is solid, and fits his effect. You can Special Summon this card from your Hand (in face-up Defense position) if a face-up Bujin you control is removed from play...or one from your Graveyard. So that's easy enough to trigger. Once a turn during the End Phase, if a Bujin Monster card was added from the Deck to the Hand OUTSIDE of the Draw Phase, you can Draw a card...and then discard another. See, this Deck just is weird. I mean, sure, it can work, but there's so much going on. Interesting, just not very practical.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Today we're going to review Bujin Arasuda. A Light Beast-Warrior, level 4, 1600ATK/1900DEF, Arasuda's effects involves if a “Bujin” is banished. “If a "Bujin" monster in your Graveyard or face-up on your side of the field is banished (except during the Damage Step): You can Special Summon this card from your hand in face-up Defense Position. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if a "Bujin" card was added from your Deck to your hand this turn, except by drawing it, while you controlled this face-up card: You can draw 1 card, then discard 1 card. You can only control 1 "Bujin Arasuda".”

Arasuda has decent stats to begin with for a level 4 monster. As a light it has a good amount of support backing it up (Honest, Light of Redemption, Beckoning Light, etc.). If a “Bujin” monster is removed by your opponent or by yourself (Chaos Sorcerer, BLS, or any of these “Bujin” monsters: Boar, Fox, Hare, Centipede, Quilin, Turtle), or removed from the field, you can drop this guy onto the field in defense position. His effect kicks during the End Phase, allowing you to draw a card, then discard a card if you added a “Bujin” card from your Deck to your hand. Arasuda combos good with Peacock, Yamato, Mikazuchi, and Susanowo. Summon Yamato, remove a “Bujin” for that specific Bujin's effect, Special Summon Arasuda, then once you enter the End Phase you get your draw.

Special Summoning in defense isn't bad, but Arasuda won't be attacking that turn unless you Xyz with him (unless you Special Summon Arasuda during your opponents turn). Only being able to control one Arasuda isn't that big of a disadvantage, but I think he'd be more playable if his defense and attack were flipped, or it's effect would happen more than once per turn. The trouble with Arasuda's effect is that you'll likely have to Special Summon him so you can normal or Xyz a Bujin to set up getting that draw. It can be easy, but you shouldn't change your play just to get the draw.

Bujin Arasuda

Talk about a well rounded card. Good stats (especially as a defender). Can be easily Special Summoned, conducive to XYZ's. It's effect of drawing and discarding is sometimes situational, but very possible and helps better your hand (as well as fuel the graveyard). It never exceeds being a one-for-one, but it can lead to interesting opportunities.

As a bonus, Bujin's searched by Tenki and Pot of Duality count. That, particularly, propels this card very high. At least in Advanced (because traditional format doesn't like Bujin's, or 99% of cards for that matter)

Traditional – 2/5
Advanced – 4/5

Terrorking

Get your game on. Today we're doing a sick monster: Bujin Arasuda. Totally radical, dood. Okay, that's enough young people dialog. Your king understands your lingo and appreciates it, but I prefer to speak like this. Yes...

Bujin Arasuda, the card many think to be Daisuke/Bastion Misawa from Yu-Gi-Oh GX! is not an impressive card at first glance. If this is your first time seeing a Bujin, they're an archetype that rely on their Beast-Warriors to do anything, so this card occupies that specific niche. Usually, you only have one Beast-Warrior out, but this lets you get the chance to summon 2 monsters in one turn, where you then Xyz summon the Xyz monster, Susanowo and beat your opponent down. However, this requires some set-up to get off, and you don't want to be wasting your Bujingis just to get this guy off. Fear not, however, as in the next set there will be another Bujin beast-warrior that allows this card to shine. For now though, you only need 0 or 1 of this guy.

Traditional: 1/5
Advanced: 1.5/5 (right now)
Art: 4/5. Look at that background, and how soothing the art looks. It isn't trying to be "SO EPIC LOL," and thus it succeeds at it.
