Wednesday
An oldie, but a goodie, seems like an appropriate
adage to Magician of Faith. The cute little girl
has returned to the land of the living, at least for
a few weeks. Here's the tricky thing about Magician
of Faith...she's still good, don't think otherwise.
BUT, she's not as broken as she once was for two
reasons. For one, she's only as broken as the
availability of broken Magic cards available in a
given Format. For two, after surviving so long
without her, you really don't need her anymore.
Sure I suppose getting the right card at the right
time (obviously) can swing or finish the game in
your favor, but unless you absolutely need her, need
her effect at your disposal, keep her in the
side-deck. The game is everchanging, as is her
usefulness.
Ratings:
3.75/5 Both Formats...Good? Of course. Necessary
in your Deck? Not all of them. And actually maybe
more a 4.25/5 in Traditional as there are (more)
broken Magic cards

Happy hump day everyone. We continue banlist week
with Magician of Faith, a card that recently found
salvation from the banlist after many years there.
Magician of Faith is one of the oldest cards in
the game that is still usable, outside of LoB
staples like Dark Hole and... Oh wait that's the
only one that's still legal. Magician of Faith was
the first rare I ever pulled from a pack way back
when Metal Raiders was the newest set, and back then
with no restrictions on the number you could run, it
was devastating, allowing you to get back your
Monster Reborn, Raigeki, Feather Duster, whatever
you wanted. Nothing was better than a flip-effect
back then, so it was almost a sure thing that this
was going to happen.
But fast forward ten years and lets look at the
same situation. You have pretty much one restricted
staple magic card left, that being Dark Hole. Book
of Moon also comes to mind, that also being at one
and widely played. So now we have to look at the
bigger picture. How many decks rely on spells to
win? Spellbooks, of course. Fire Kings love to use
Onslaught and Circle to their fullest capacity. Fire
Fists play plenty, but with the way they work I'd
skip this there.
And then you have to consider the speed of this
card. Being a flip-effect, your opponent will have
to attack it or you'll have to flip it yourself the
turn AFTER you set it. Given the massive number of
removal cards in this game, this could be a
challenge. Almost every deck has some unique form of
removal to deal with any threat on the field,
whether by targeting or mass destruction. Prophecies
have World and Priestess. Fire Fists have Bear. Fire
Kings have Garunix. Gravekeepers have Descendant. I
could go on, but you get the point.
And the point is, you can't rely on this card,
but that doesn't mean you shouldn't play it. I don't
like the idea of leaving such a potentially valuable
resource on the field and counting on my opponent to
let it swing to my advantage, but of course you
might also have a way of protecting it. If you can
do that, then great, you can get back your most
powerful magic cards to use again, which can be
game-breaking. If it gets blown up and you HAD to
have that card back, now you're screwed.
In closing, play it if it will work with your
deck, but consider running more copies of your key
magic cards before you run this. It's not as broken
as it once was, but it's not horrible by any means.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Today's card of the day is an old favorite and
newly unbanned card: Magician of Faith. I'm not
surprised to see MoF back to being Limited, the game
is fast-paced and MoF is a slow card. Magician of
Faith is a Light, Spellcaster, 1 star,
300ATK/400DEF. When she is flipped you target 1
Spell Card in your Graveyard and add that target to
your hand.
With Tsukuyomi at two, the Yomi-loop is possible
with MoF once again. Flip MoF, get your spell,
summon Tsukuyomi, flip MoF face-down to flip her
again next turn (if she survives). If she doesn't
survive next turn, most likely you'll still get
another spell when your opponent attacks her. Her
stats are small, but that doesn't really matter, you
won't be attacking with her. She's a light, which
aids in a Chaos Deck, as well as support cards to
get her to your hand. The best way to get her onto
the field is having an Apprentice Magician
destroyed, allowing you to Special Summon MoF in
face-down position. Once she is in the grave,
there's your light and dark for removal. Any spell
can be targeted, giving you the chance to take
immediate advantage in the game. Flip her, get a
spell, then sync her with a level one Tuner to get
Formula Synchron, getting another draw. Charge of
the Light Brigade, Destiny Draw, Trade-In, Solar
Recharge, and Dark Hole are just some of the cards
that benefit from this card coming back.
Magician of Faith isn't always going to be in a
position to help. If you don't have any spells in
your grave, she is pretty useless. Flip effects have
to be great in a game where the play is fast,
despite whatever the ban list tosses at the players.
Despite being able to recycle a spell that could
promote a great advantage for you, you are still
giving up a slot in your deck for her that could be
used for a monster that would be able to give you an
advantage and have the ability to defend you from
attacks.
If you are going to play Magician of Faith, you
have to have the patience to wait either have her be
destroyed by your opponent, or invest to save her so
you yourself can flip her and gain advantage by
having her on the field.
Traditional-4/5 -Lot more options and worth
playing despite the insanely-fast play.
Advanced-3.5/5 -Less options to abuse, but still a
good card.

Magician of Faith
It feels so nostalgic to be able to play MoF
again. But it's also worth noting that in her
absence, the game has changed drastically and she's
not quite that 5/5 that she used to be anymore. Some
of you might still view her with rose-tinted
glasses, but it's important to look at it
objectively. Today, there are some problems she
might run into today.
First, there are way more threats to face-downs
than just Nobleman of Crossout. Second, even if you
do retrieve a field spell, in a meta where it's easy
to swarm, you are giving up field advantage to use
her. Third, since she isn't part of an archetype, a
lot of decks will not be using her because there
aren't cards out there to tutor or +1 her.
In Traditional, she is way too slow (being a Flip
Effect that can be easily destroyed). In Advanced,
most of the already broken spell cards like Monster
Reborn are banned. So, you're most likely going to
get a Dark Hole or Pot of Duality, which is still a
very good reason to use this card.
Traditional: 3/5 (Good)
Advanced: 4/5 (Very Good)

Ah, today we shall tackle Tea... no, get your minds
out of the gutter... today we shall tackle a card
played by Tea from the original Yu-Gi-Oh anime. No,
my dear readers, not Happy Lover or Shining
Friendship, but a card far more powerful. Now I know
you must be thinking I'm crazy as there's nothing
more powerful that FRIENDSHIP, and you're right, so
this shall be Tea's best card OTHER THAN Shining
Friendship. Yes, now let's get it on.
Magician of Faith has been on the banlist for many,
many years. This was largely due to the staggering
amount of powerful spells that have been in the game
for so many years, but with recent lists many of the
more powerful spells have gotten banned, such as
Monster Reborn and Heavy Storm. This card isn't so
much a "combo" card like a Mass Driver or a Cannon
Soldier, but what it does it does better than any
other card, and that's allowing you to re-use your
best spells. It's hard to gauge how good this card
will be in the current environment, but "ball
parking it" I think Fire Fists may have some use for
it by reusing their Formations, Vampires and
Gravekeepers can get back their Field Spell, all
decks can get back Dark Hole, Forbidden
Lance/Chalice/Dress, etc.
How to counter Magician of Faith: The same way you'd
counter a Winged Kuriboh, which is to say, not at
all.
