Number 101: Silent Honor ARK
- #LVAL-EN047 2 Level 4 monsters
You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 1 Special Summoned monster your opponent controls in face-up Attack Position; attach it to this card as a face-up Xyz Material. You can only use this effect of "Number 101: Silent Honor ARK" once per turn. If this face-up card would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead.

We open this week by taking a
peek into the new set, and begin with Number 101:
Silent Honor ARK. This is a Rank 4, Water
attributed Aqua type Monster, with 2100 attack and
1000 defense. So it's not the strongest Rank 4 out
there obviously, but it has a couple of interesting
abilities. It's kind of like the Borg, it doesn't
destroy, it assimilates. The first effect is very
intriguing, by detaching both XYZ Material, you can
take an opponent's Monster that was Special Summoned
(in face-up attack position) and equip it to this
card as XYZ Material. Said effect can only be used
once per turn. Also, if this face-up card would be
destroyed, you can detach an XYZ Material instead.
I like both these effects. He can rid threats,
even if he doesn't technically destroy them, and he
has protection, even somewhat. There's probably not
much room for this guy in the Extra Deck, but I'd at
least recommend trying him out.

Welcome back from the weekend everyone. Hope you
all enjoyed the LVAL sneak peek, because we're
diving straight into the set this week. Our first
card, and one of the most anticipated from this set,
is Number 101: Silent Honor Ark.
This card seriously has the potential to become
the next staple Rank 4 monster. Not only is it
difficult to destroy, thanks to its detach effect,
but that's not what we're looking at here.
Anyone who plays with Light monsters, like Bujins,
Noble Knights, Lightsworns, whatever, know that
Starliege Paladynamo is one of the greatest
resources you have available. It single-handedly
neutralizes any monster threat on the field,
reducing its ATK to 0 AND negating its effect. It
has a reasonable 2000 atk, and when destroyed by
your opponent, you get to draw a card. Pretty nice!
And now the rest of the game has access to a
similar card. Instead of reducing stats or negating
effects, 101 simply absorbs any face-up special
summoned monster your opponent controls and attaches
it as an XYZ material to itself. It can then use
that material to prevent its own destruction. The
great thing is, 101 is a generic monster, so any two
level 4 monsters can make it, as opposed to
Paladynamo's requirement of being Light. This lets
you get rid of annoying monsters that are difficult
to destroy, like Dracossack, Lead Yoke, Zenmaines,
whatever you want to do. It has 2100 ATK, putting it
a notch above Paladynamo, though sadly it lacks a
draw effect.
It's a simple card with a simple effect, and
that's what makes this so devastating. The ability
to remove any threat on the field with a simple rank
4 summon is going to make a difference in the
future, especially with the number of decks that
rely on rank 4 summons. Players will have to devise
new defenses for their monsters in anticipation of
this, since most monsters lack personal protection.
Any deck that runs rank 4s is likely to run this,
some more than others, and also along with
tomorrow's card, another great rank 4 from LVAL.

Number 101: Silent Honor ARK
Howdy there, today's card is Number 101: Silent
Honor ARK, the big want card from Legacy of the
Valiant. A generic 4 that has quite a devastating
effect, since it can bypass most effects as it is
absorbing not destroying. It pretty much only has a
one shot go which is kind of unfortunate since if
you are trying to get rid of multiple threats, to be
honest running 2 would be the best if you have room,
though price was could be well pricey :P. Other then
that though such a great effect and goes PERFECTLY
with Photon Papilloperative, answer to the Zenmaines
issue.
Traditional: 5/5 (Even here absorbs a lot of
trouble makers)
Advanced: 5/5 (Not much to say, might even be
limited or banned later)
Art: 5/5 Looks sooo badass, really compliment the
artist, reminds me of a power ranger or G.I Joe mech
or something.

Number 101: Silent Honor ARK
Welcome to a new week, my little saplings!
Okay, that wasn't quite as charismatic as when
Terrorking called you guppies, but you'll understand
soon enough. This week's card don't seem to
have a lot in common, but they are from the new set
Legacy of the Valiant.
Being a Rank-4 XYZ with no specific requirements,
it's versatile and can easily be splashed in any
Extra Deck. Being able to engulf a Special Summoned
monster (they will probably make up 90% of your
biggest threats out there) is a very good ability in
addition to a free protection is a plus. Or, you can
choose not to attach your opponent's monster and
have 2 protection buffs. All in all, something
you're going to want to run 1 or 2 (probably just 1)
in your Extra Deck for occasions where you need it.
Traditional: 2/5 (Mediocre) – Because it's an XYZ
that's not a lockdown or OTK
Advanced: 4/5 (Very Good)

"Silent Honor ARK"... what does that even mean?
Seems like a bunch of random words to me.
...
Oh, I see. If you take the first letters of the
two words you get "SH ARK", and it was played by
Shark from the ZeXal anime. Oh how clever you are,
Japan. In other news, I've recently learned that
every villain is lemons is what "EVIL" means.
Well that's enough of that. Hello, my guppies and
welcome to Terrorking's review of Number 101. The
card looks simple and innocent enough, doesn't it?
Well yeah, it sort of is, but in actual practice
you'll quickly find it to be better than you ever
anticipated. See, this card removes Special Summoned
threats in one of the best ways possible: by tucking
it under itself as an Xyz Material. It gets around
that pesky old Stardust Dragon...
Remember when something getting around Stardust
Dragon was a huge selling point? Good times. But
this gets around the second iteration of Stardust,
the old Stardust Spark Dragon, Lead Yoke, Dracossack,
and the like pretty easily as well: basically, to
this card there is no difference between Shooting
Quasar Dragon and Jester Confit. A funny thing you
can do is take a Dragon Ruler and then watch your
opponent's sad face that they won't be able to
banish that Dragon Ruler for awhile. But the fun
doesn't end there, kids. SH ARK also then gets a
Gachi Gachi-esque effect, where it detaches to
prevent its destruction. So what you do is lose 2
Xyz Materials, take your opponent's monster as an
Xyz Material and then prevents itself from being
destroyed by detaching that monster. You know how
Mind Control results in a +1? Well this thing, by
the time it has gotten off its effect is a +1 if
your opponent tried to destroy it with a spell/trap,
and then remains on the field as a vanilla Cyber
Dragon for you.
Now I know what you're thinking, my pretties, you
don't have Extra Deck space for this! Ha-ha, that is
because you lack insight, young one and why you are
reading my review. Everything Maestroke does, this
card does better. It does (almost) everything
Maestroke can do. So you can stop running Maestroke
in your Extra Deck for at the very least 2 of this
guy. Or maybe Blackship of Corn. Whichever you think
is less useful.
How to Counter the ARK: Effect negation or bust.
This is truly a fantastically-designed card.

Advanced: 4.5/5
