Ghostrick Ghoul
- #SHSP-EN000 Cannot be Normal Summoned, unless you control a "Ghostrick" monster. Once per turn: You can change this card to face-down Defense Position. Once per turn, during your Main Phase 1: You can target 1 "Ghostrick" monster you control; its ATK becomes equal to the combined original ATK of all "Ghostrick" monsters currently on the field, until your opponent's next End Phase, but if it does, only that monster can attack this turn.

Thursday
Ghostrick Ghoul isn't a bad card for its own
theme; a theme that will only grow larger, mind you.
It's rather unremarkable on paper. While 1100-1200
attack and defense aren't awful for Level 3 (just
not particularly good) and Dark is good, as well as
is Zombie. So it can flip itself into face-down
Defense once a turn, and also target a Ghostrick you
control to have its attack become equal to the total
of all of his kind on the Field (yours and your
opponent's, if any). It's not bad, even though only
that Monster can attack, which adds a little
fairness I guess. I don't think these guys can keep
up, not without a LOT more support, but still, not
awful.

Ghostrick Ghoul
Howdy there, today's card is Ghostrick Ghoul, he
is the promo card for Shadow Specters and he is the
Sirocco of the Ghostricks, truthfully he is one of
those Promos that doesn't attract much to a set, but
I like his tech in the Ghostricks if you have a
swarm he can boost Ghostrick Dullahan the new
Ghostrick card that comes from Legacy of the Valiant
nicely.
Traditional: 1/5 (I'd like to say something nice,
but I just can't think of anything)
Advanced: 2/5 (Meh, wish it could be special
summoned from his own effect)
Art: 4/5 I actually like the art though, reminds
me of......
I was working in the lab, late one night
When my eyes beheld an eerie sight
For my monster from his slab, began to rise
And suddenly to my surprise
He did the mash, he did the monster mash
The monster mash, it was a graveyard smash
He did the mash, it caught on in a flash
He did the mash, he did the monster mash

I don't really like this monster. Its effect is
cool especially if you're spamming the field with
the appropriate targets but at the same time I look
at something like this and think to
myself..."Wouldn't I prefer top decking into a Chaos
Sorcerer or Black Luster Soldier or some zombie
support that lets me bring out my synchros?"
Honestly this card only generates advantage through
battle and has pathetic stats. Cards like Swarm of
Scarabs and Swarm of Locus and that weird camel
monster that lets you draw cards each time you flip
it face up; they do this flip down thing a lot
better and don't see play in their respective decks
because they're slow. Why do I want to wait a turn
to use a monster's effect?

Ghostrick Ghoul
Ghostricks are a capable but not fully realized yet
deck type, but Ghoul is among the worst of the
bunch. Witch, Stein, Specter, Jiangshi, and Mary
are all better choices. Those other Ghostricks add
speed to the deck with searching, create potential
+1's with searching or contribute to the theme by
flipping monsters face-down or protecting against
attacks. Ghoul seems to be the odd one out. It's a
really bad Blackwing - Sirroco the Dawn wanna-be,
but lacks its summonability, ATK strength and
intrinsic value. With the other Ghostricks being
weak, combining ATK strength (even if you do happen
to control more than 1 or 2 monsters) won't do much
since the theme relies on tactics rather than brute
strength.
Perhaps you might want to splash in a Ghoul for
those rare occasions, but it will only serve to
dilute the deck and you would not want him in your
opening hand either. Not totally useless. Just
doesn't offer what the rest of the theme offers and
doesn't do enough to supplement what the theme
doesn't offer. When all's said and done, he just
doesn't belong.
Traditional: 1/5 (Bad)
Advanced: 2/5 (Mediocre) -- in context of the
Ghostrick theme

Hello my dear guppies, and welcome to this review of
a Halloweeny monster far departed from Halloween.
This one will be short, sweet and to the point.
Ghostrick Ghoul has only one purpose: saving you
from Mirror Force. Essentially, you use its effect
to pump up one Ghostrick, and then you have all
others flip themselves facedown. Apart from that, it
serves no real purpose and there's many other
options in the Ghostrick archetype. What I am saying
is you don't need this and its effectiveness is in
question.

Today's Thursday, for whatever that may mean to
you. Today's review covers Ghostrick Ghoul, a member
of the highly-popular and highly-hyped Ghostrick
archetype, but is he a worthwhile member?
Well, assuming things are going your way, then
yeah, he's pretty great. He lets you pile all your
Ghostrick's attacks onto one monster (including
himself) and only attack with that monster that
turn. If the Field Spell is in play you could
theoretically do a lot of damage, assuming all of
your opponent's monsters are face-down AND they
don't have a way to stop your attack.
This also lets you get over bigger monsters that
might cause you problems, such as anything that can
attack multiple times in a turn. I'm a huge Bujin
fan, and let me tell you, my favorite thing to see
is a Ghostrick deck, due to Susanawo's ability to
completely annihilate a Ghostrick field with ease.
Ghoul will help you circumvent that problem if you
can hold Susanawo off until your own turn. There are
also old favorites like BLS and even Asura Priest
that can attack multiple times, so Ghoul can help
you out if you keep things in your favor until your
own turn.
But what if you don't? This thing is about the
most useless monster in the deck on his own,
providing no bonus protection, no draw power, no
search, no advantage. He's a utility card to allow
you to get over big monsters or inflict a lot of
damage, and that has its place, but not at the
expense of too many slots in your deck, especially
with the new monsters coming out in Legacy of the
Valiant.
