Closing the week we look at a Number, in Number 103: Ragnazero. This is a Rank 4, Water attributed Fairy (Water??) with 2400 attack and 2100 defense, who is XYZ Summoned with two Level 4 Monsters. Fairy is good, 2400 attack isn't bad for a Rank 4, although Water is a bit confusing. As stated earlier this week, we like our fairies to be Light. Her effect is simple and moderately useful. Once a turn, during either players' turn, you can detach an XYZ Material to target an opponent's face-up attack position Monster who has attack different than its original attack, and destroy, AND if successful, you Draw a card. Now, this can work well with cards you see often, I just don't think it's going to work often enough for you to play it with an all ready crowded Extra Deck.

Number 103: Ragnazero
WATER/Fairy/Xyz/Effect/Rank 4/2400/1200
2 Level 4 monsters

Wrapping up this week we have the main Over-Hundred Number monster of Merag aka Rio; Number 103: Ragnazero.

Statwise N103 is a generic, 2 monster Rank 4 monster which is always a good thing. It is a WATER/Fairy; a strange combination; with 2400 ATK; which is Solid; and 1200 DEF; which is bad.

Effectwise it has a quick effect that allows you to target an opponent’s ATK position monster whose has changed its ATK and destroy it and if you do you draw a card. Being a quick effect is really good and always a good thing. The effect itself on the plus side destroying a monster and drawing a card for 1 material is really good. However the conditions it has to your opponent’s, it has to be in ATK mode and the whole ATK change does make this card a bit tricky, though not impossible to pull off, especially if a deck is reliant on ATK boosting cards like Fire Fists.

Overall a good monster, the conditions do hurt a bit, but it is a generic Rank 4 with a quick effect that will allow you to destroy and draw.

Baneful

Number 103: Ragnazero

There's a lot to celebrate about this card. First, it's stats. At 2400, it manages to overpower most of the popular Rank-4 XYZ's out there. Utopia at 2500 existed almost entirely as a raw beater, but at 100 ATK less, Ragnazero manages to be both a strong monster and have a powerful effect.

The requirement of a stat alteration (aka attack boost or attack decrease) does fairly limit the use of this card but it's viable against numerous decks today. Gravekeeper. Fire Fist. Dark World.

The draw 1 card effect really helps to alleviate any problems it might have. If you only happened to destroy a floater (a monster that already activated its effect), you didn't waste your XYZ summon for nothing. You still get a draw. Or, you can use Forbidden Lance (or a card like it) to enable the effect without suffering a -1. Heck, if you have a card like Burden of the Mighty that can weaken your opponent's monsters continuously (and want to be bold), you could run 3 of these to keep plussing.

Some math...  -2 XYZ materials.  +1 XYZ monster (right now we're at a -1).  Destroy a monster (we're at a 1-for-1 , aka 0).  Then, draw a card (you already plussed off of it).  Then you have a 2400 floater and if you already used a floater monster to summon this card, you can even potentially +2 off of it. But usually this is a +1 when you use it.  Due to the fact that it's somewhat situational (it's dead against decks that don't boost stats) you're not going to want to run more than 1 in your Extra Deck. But still, for all decks that use LV4 monsters, Ragnazero is without a doubt, an important card to add to your collection

Traditional – 1 (Not many stat boosters in Traditional. Also, +1 removal vs. First turn OTK/Lockdown. I'll go with the latter.)

Advanced – 4 (Could well be considered a staple for a LV4 oriented extra deck.)

Terrorking

Can today's card possibly live up to yesterday's? We shall see, my guppies. We shall see.

Cello, and welcome to another of Terrorking's glorious reviews. Today we dissect Number 103: Ragna Zero. Years ago an effect like the one on this card would be dubbed "too situational. Garbage," but now ATK modifying has become so prevalent that it does have a place in the Extra Deck. Madolche? Dead. Fire Fists? Dead. A lot of Xyz Monsters? Dead. The effect is still situational, but this has being a Rank 4 Xyz monster on its side, which means it's the easiest kind of Xyz to make and is in the Extra Deck so you have zero chance of not having it when you need it.

It'd be pretty neat if that's all it did, but when its effect destroys a monster, you get to draw a card. That's a +2 each time you detach an Xyz material from this thing. Detach two Xyz materials and suddenly you're up four cards in advantage. Powerful card.

Advanced: 3.5/5

If your deck can make rank 4s Number 103: Ragnazero should be in your extra deck. This card is pretty much an instant staple. Because of this card, decks that use Tenki (Fire Fist, Bujin, Gladiator Beasts, Constellars, etc), Harpies, Spellbooks, and pretty much anything that commonly plays cards that change their attack points have to watch their backs.

Ragnazero is a quick effect XYZ monster that destroys monsters with current ATK different from their original ATK and then to add insult to injury you get to draw a card. That’s right it’s a card that goes plus one as soon as it’s activated and due to the fact that it is a quick effect you can chain it to removal or even use it to stop your opponent’s plays in progress.

Bear giving you problems? Ragnazero has your back.

Afraid of Constellars dropping a Pleiades at a bad time? Pick off that Kaus before Pleiades even hits the board.

Harpies getting a little special summon crazy? Ragnazero can put a stop to that too.

Honestly, this is the best extra deck monster we have gotten since 101 and Exciton and probably the best we get until Castel the Avian Skyblaster releases in Duelist Alliance.

Ragnazero is such a solid card that people have tried to make entire decks centered around it by using Pumprincess the Princess of Ghosts and Burden of the Mighty to change every monsters attack.

Of course, this doesn’t have as much utility in the FTK happy world of Traditional, but in Advanced, this card is great.

Traditional: 3 (still a great card, but probably won’t see play due to the nature of Traditional)
Advanced: 4.5
