Here's a blast from the past to open the week, in D.D. Warrior Lady.  For those of you unfamiliar or who just haven't played that long, D.D. stands for Different Dimension, an interesting realm filled with various people and creatures alike.  These Monsters (and cards in forms of Dimension Fusion and Return From the Different Dimension) involve being removed from play in one way or another.  Our female Warrior is a Light attributed, Level 4 Monster, with 1500 attack and 1600 defense.  She's not the strongest Monster in terms of either stat there, but she packs a punch one can use offensively or defensively.  When attacked or attacking, whether she is destroyed, or destroys, or not, she gives you the option to remove herself and the attacker or attacked from play.  To be honest, I haven't seen her used in a great while, but I certainly wouldn't fault anyone for using her.

D.D. Warrior Lady
LIGHT/Warrior/Effect/Level 4/1500/1600
After damage calculation, when this card battles an opponent's monster: You can banish that monster, also banish this card.

We looking at some old cards this week and first off is D.D. Warrior Lady. Statwise D.D Warrior Lady was never a massive card, a LIGHT/Warrior which has plenty of Support with 1500 ATK and 1600 DEF nothing spectacular for a level 4.

Effectwise, in the day D.D. Warrior Lady had a terrifying effect, when it battled, to could banish itself and the monster it battled. Players would either set it to hopefully trap the opponent or summon it face-up to either plough it into a monster or use it as a deterrent.

The problem though is that now there a plenty of cards that banish cards or retrieve cards that were banished, meaning D.D. Warrior Lady has lost a lot of her edge. She can still be dangerous but cards like Dimensional Prison reduce the randomness of banishing the monster you want to.

Overall, a great card back in the day, but sadly nowadays there are a lot of cards that can to the same thing but without costing you a monster.

Hey everyone!  I'm finally done with training for a while, so I actually have time to sit back and enjoy my hobbies for a while.  Today we look at D.D. Warrior Lady, a classic card who has seen play for nearly a decade.

D.D. Warior Lady has average stats for a level 4, is a Warrior, which is great, and Light, which is also great.  When destroyed, she gives you the option of removing her from play, along with the monster that destroyed her.  There are other monsters out there with similar effects, but the nice thing about DDWL is that she's optional.  One of my good pals runs three of these in his anti-meta deck, and it's one of the most irritating things to deal with.  It doesn't target on top of that, meaning that a lot of cards today, like Forbidden Dress, Bujingi Turtle, or even Thought Ruler, cannot prevent it.

Really it's this versatility that makes her a decent card in today's game.  You can set her for some bigger monster to run over.  You can pick off weaker monsters with her, then ram her into a big monster and remove them both at the expense of a couple hundred LP.  My buddy in question is a big fan of using Call of the Haunted to make it a problem at an inconvenient time, forcing you to play to his hand.  When combined with other stun cards, like Fossil Dyna, Grand Mole, and Thunder King, you find yourself in weird locks that you have to figure out a way around, or you'll have your resources gone faster than you'd like.  She doesn't belong in every deck, but used correctly, she's ever bit as potent now as the day Dark Crisis was released.

D.D. Warrior Lady

Welcome to the “where are they now” week! Where we go back and review old classics to see how they are doing today. Today, is D.D. Warrior Lady, originally released in 2003, in the set Dark Crisis.

D.D. Warrior Lady was a staple for many beatdown decks, constantly used in 3's so much that they had to limit her to 1. Now, she's back at 3, and outside of a Macro Cosmos kind of deck, she isn't used much. I can see why. A total lack of support for her.

Most decks only use monsters that have support aka archetypes. Monsters like Blackwing Zephyros the Elite have combos, but DDWL is stuck without combos. That, and we've moved from a format of small monsters with strong on-field effects we want to care for and protect to big disposable monsters summoned with ease. Cards like Mirror Force are also a risk.

I still think DDWL has a lot of use since she can take out nearly any monster. She might not be a graveyard-effect monster herself, but she surely eliminates them. Cards like Zenmaines that protect against “destroy” removal are banished. Annoyances like Treeborn Frog, gone. Searchers, totally undermined. And she's not a bad deterrent. Also, people would totally not expect to attack into her if you Set her.

Overall, it's a good card with a lot of benefits and it's share of risks too. My heart wants to give her much higher ratings due to all the memories I have with her. I still, today, splash a copy of DDWL in some of my decks and find a way to make her work. But I have to be fair and objective with this review and say, in this day and age, she's a mixed bag leaning toward the better side of things.

D.D. Warrior Lady used to be one of the strongest forms of monster removal. At this point, D.D. Warrior Lady is primarily useful as a way to banish an opponent's monster without either targeting it or destroying it. This plays around a large number of cards, such as Safe Zone, Tiras, and Fortune Tune. This effect always has the potential to become extremely useful again if there is a new meta card that is hard to counter without D.D. Warrior Lady. Currently, however, she isn't the best.

The main problem with D.D. Warrior Lady is she has to battle a monster to remove it. This means either you have to wait for your opponent to attack her, or you have to crash her into your opponent's monster. Neither of these are ideal. The first way is very inconsistent, as your opponent can just destroy her without attacking (Fire Fist Bear, Atlantean Marksman, etc) or even attack her with a monster other than the monster you want to banish. Relying on your opponent to fall for you trick isn't the best idea. If you try to crash D.D. Warrior Lady, you have to hope your opponent doesn't have Bottomless, Mirror Force, or any other response to stop your attack. Effects that have to trigger through battle are generally bad at the moment.

D.D. Warrior Lady is a Warrior type monster, so she is a decent choice for the side deck in any deck that uses Reinforcement of the Army.

Rating: 2/5 (Bad)
