Foolish Burial is somewhat appropriate for April
Fools I think, and it's fun to do a serious review
as opposed to a junky janky one as seems to be the
suit. Foolish Burial is Limited, and is a very good
combo card. It doesn't do very much ON ITS OWN, and
isn't welcome in all Decks. But any Deck that can
benefit from having or more quickly adding necessary
cards or Monsters to the Graveyard (like Fire Fist,
Lightsworn, Zombie, E-Hero, just to name some)
really enjoy Foolish Burial. It might even be
better in Traditional just because of it can make
fast even faster.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Happy April Fools everyone! No jokes from KoL, I
assure you. Today's CoTD is a card Joey Wheeler used
to combo with Graverobber back in the day: Foolish
Burial. While they slightly altered the effect for
the show, the real Foolish Burial is still a great
card. A Normal Spell Card, Foolish lets you send a
monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, pretty
straight forward.
Foolish Burial can be a game-changing card in the
right deck, but mostly it is a card that sets up a
move you will be executing the turn you play it.
Lightsworns use it to send Wulf to the grave, then
Wulf Special Summons itself, then they can sacrifice
it for Celestia. Destiny Heros bury Malicious to set
up big plays, and Zombies put Mezuki from their Deck
into their Graveyard so they can remove it and
Special Summon a Zombie-Type monster (they can also
bury Plaugespreader Zombie for Synchro Summons). So
many monsters work well with Foolish Burial and
almost any deck can play it.
The only negatives to Foolish Burial are that if you
draw it late in the game it may not do you any good
(no targets), and if there is a card that has an
effect like Dimensional Fissure or Macro Cosmos has,
then Foolish Burial is pretty useless.

Foolish Burial
A timeless classic. No matter what the format is,
it will find a place, as it always has. A -1, but a
smart -1. I'd argue that it's even better in
Traditional because there's way more combos with it.
In Advanced, you'll often break even with the -1 and
get a bit of Speed. In Traditional, you use that
smidgeon of graveyard power to work an explosive
combo that will win you the game. Or at least an
engine you can abuse to maintain hand control. You
would think with Painful Choice, it's obsolete.
Nah. Not at all. Painful Jr. can still
do a lot of good for the times where you don't draw
PC.
When this card first came out in the old day,
yeah, there was some potentials. And the whole
“Foolish + Reborn” combo was cool. But it's been
fully realized since the Synchro era.
It's like a suit that never goes out of style. It
always finds a way to be relevant because it has a
simple but really useful effect.
Traditional: 4.0 (Great)
Advanced: 3.5 (Very Good)

Most people normally save trivia for the end, but I
am not "most" people, so here's a bit of Trivia on
this card. It debuted back in the original Yu-Gi-Oh
anime, was a trap card and played by Joey Wheeler/Katsuya
Jonouchi against Odion/Rishid to send his own Jinzo
to the Graveyard, and then he proceeded to revive it
and shatter Rishid's strategy.
Now that wasn't just blind trivia. No, it ties back
into this review. See, that's how Foolish Burial has
ALWAYS been used. Send a crucial combo piece to the
Graveyard (Glow-Up Bulb, Spore, Dandylion, Wulf,
etc) and then resummon it and do your crazy
shenanigans. For the sheer combo potential this card
has, I shall not go further into what it can do.
