Artifact Durendal is our card for today, which
builds very well off the card of yesterday. It's a
Rank 5 XYZ Monster, XYZ Summoned with two Level 5
Monsters, and a Light attributed, Fairy. Only 2400
attack, so there are easier to Summon XYZ Monsters,
with more attack, but still not bad for Rank 5, and
2100 defense. This guy, like yesterday, is good in
his Deck, and even good outside. His biggest problem
is going to be space in the Extra Deck, which likely
works against him. He has two effects, of which you
can activate one of a turn, during either players'
turn. Either discard an XYZ Material when an Effect
Monster activates its efffect OR when a Normal
Magic/Trap card is activated to change that effect
to "destroy a Magic/Trap card your opponent
controls". Or discard an XYZ Material for each
player with a Hand to shuffle their Hand back into
the Deck and then Draw the same number of cards they
were holding. Artifacts need time to be on the scene
to judge how effective they will be. They aren't the
most powerful YET, but they are hella fast.

Artifact Durendal
LIGHT/Fairy/Xyz/Effect/Rank 5/2400/2100
2 Level 5 monsters
Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can
activate 1 of these effects.
● When a monster effect is activated on the field,
OR when a Normal Spell/Trap Card is activated: You
can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; the

● You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; each
player with a hand shuffles their entire hand into
the Deck, then each player draws the same number of
cards they shuffled into the Deck.
We continue our Primal Origins week with Artifact
Durendal the main boss monster of the Artifact
archetype. Statwise it is a Generic Rank 5
LIGHT/Fairy all which is good with 2400 ATK and 2100
DEF, not the greatest but we have had worse. Also
since all Artifacts are level 5 it is easy to summon
this monster as well.
It has two effects and both are quick effects
which is great and both can be very disruptive for
the opponent. The first effect is a rare but nasty
effect, the change the effect of a card to another.
In this case if a monster effect on the field or a
Normal Spell/Trap is activated, the effect becomes
"Destroy 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent controls".
This is clearly designed to be used on your
opponent’s turn, so not only will their plan be
ruined but you will be able to get the effect of one
of your Artifacts.
The second effect, gives both players a Reload.
It can be used to get yourself a better hand while
ruining your opponent’s hand. Not a massive effect
but still can be useful and probably should be used
if the opponent has added something dangerous to
their hand.
Overall, two good quick effects, decent stats and
it is generic, all make this a very good Rank 5.

Artifact Durendal
Hello, everyone. We're on
Tuesday into this week's Card of the Day. Two
things. First, we're introducing the launch of
the new Crossover forum which will bridge the main
site and the popular forums together to allow more
user interactivity and input toward the future of
Pojo. And Terrorking, what the heck is a
"squelching guppy"?
Okay, I really don't have a lot to say that
others won't because it's an amazing (aka broken,
there for boring-to-review) card in every obvious
sense.
* Artifacts can summon 2 LV5's with ease, so
summoning this card (despite its seemingly high
cost) isn't a problem.
* This card can protect itself from just about
anything and unless Solemn Warning/BHOH is used,
it's a guaranteed +1 or even +2.
* You can use an effect during your turn and an
effect during the opponent's turn making this card
very fast.
* The shuffle effect disrupts the opponent, their
searches, their planned strategies and puts their
fate against the will of the random-number-god.
* Did I mention that this card stops nearly
everything?
* Any deck with LV5 monsters can use this thing.
Not just Artifacts.
Get 3 for Artifact decks. Get 1 or 2 for
decks with LV5 monsters in general.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Continuing with the “Artifact” archtype, we look at
the Xyz of the Artifacts: Artifact Durendal. A Rank
5 Fairy-Type, Light with 2400ATK/2200DEF, it takes
two Level 5 monsters to Xyz Summon this monster.
“Once per turn, during either player's turn, you can
activate 1 of these effects. ● When a monster effect
is activated on the field, OR when a Normal
Spell/Trap Card is activated: You can detach 1 Xyz
Material from this card; the activated effect
becomes "Destroy 1 Spell/Trap Card your opponent
controls". ● You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this
card; each player with a hand shuffles their entire
hand into the Deck, then each player draws the same
number of cards they shuffled into the Deck.”
Durendal's effect can be activated during either
players turn, that's great. You can activate its
effect in response to your activation of one of your
monster effects or normal spell/trap effects. If you
do, the effect is replaced with the effect of
destroying one spell/trap your opponent controls.
Stopping an opponents Mirror Force, Torrential
Tribute, or Dark Hole, great. You will end up losing
a spell/trap, but since all Artifact archtype
monsters can be Special Summoned from your
spell/trap zone, this may end up being something
great. Stop a card that could shift the game in
their favor, they destroy a spell/trap on your side
of the field, they instead end up destroying an
Artifact monster, you Special Summon it and get its
effect(s). The second effect allows you to detach a
material and shuffle each players hands back into
their deck, then they redraw the same number of
cards. Hand control, field control ability, and
decent attack and defense, this card has a lot going
for it. If you know your opponent has a good hand,
you can Xyz Summon this card, activate the second
effect, and reset their hand, or better your own
hand.
Both effects depend on if either you or your
opponent have a spell/trap that could be destroyed
during the first effect of Durendal, or have at
least one card in each hand to activate the second
effect. Aside from that, Rank 5 Xyz's aren't too
hard to make in the right deck. This card isn't for
every deck, mostly only its own archtype. There are
decks though that could use this in their Extra
Deck, and its effects are wide-ranging enough that
it has potential to show up elsewhere outside
Artifact decks.

I apologize for not greeting you in my usual
spectacular manner yesterday, so today I shall do so
in a way that makes up for it. Hello, my perfectly
proud and passionate pupils. There, alliteration
more than makes up for it, and I know you'll agree,
my dearies.
Today we tackle the "boss" of the Artifacts,
Durendal. Unlike the other Artifacts, this one is
not a Main Deck monster. This has a nifty little
effect of turning every card activated during the
turn you use its effect into Mystical Space
Typhoons, meaning your opponent's powerful cards
become tools that help you out by destroying your
set Artifacts. Even if they don't actually aid you
by doing so, the fact that your opponents monsters
and normal spells and traps are now not what the
printed card has should be enough to completely
disrupt their turn. The second effect is somewhat
niche, but for decks like Prophecy, Gishki, Fire
Fists and Dragon Rulers, returning the hand of
searched-out-cards is killer.
