Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon
- #PRIO-EN040 2 Level 8 monsters
If this card attacks or is attacked, during damage calculation (in either player's turn): You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card once per battle; this card gains ATK equal to the combined Ranks of all Xyz Monsters currently on the field x 200, during that damage calculation only. If this card in its owner's control is destroyed by your opponent's card effect while it has "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" as an Xyz Material: You can Special Summon this card during your 2nd Standby Phase after activation and double its ATK. Any battle damage this card inflicts to your opponent is halved unless it has "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" as an Xyz Material.

Closing the week we come to another member of the
Galaxy Eyes family. Number 62: Galaxy Eyes Prime
Photon Dragon is a Rank 8, Light attributed, Dragon
type XYZ Monster who is XYZ Summoned with two Level
8 Monsters. He boasts a very impressive 4000 attack
and 3000 defense. Now, if you want to play this guy,
you essentially have to have Galaxy Eyes (the
original) as an XYZ Material, which makes sense and
is easy enough to do. If this card attacks or is
attacked, you can detach an XYZ Material (during
either players' turn) and this card gain attack
equal to 200x the combined Rank of all XYZ Monsters
on the Field. 4000 attack is a LOT, and potentially
adding another 2000 or more, I mean that can be game
right there. Also the reason why you might not need
Galaxy Eyes as an XYZ Material. He's moderately
splashable, despite the "half the Battle Damage
effect" from not having Galaxy Eyes as an XYZ
Material. If this card is destroyed while in the
owner's control, by card effect, (and it likely will
with that brutal attack) while it has Galaxy Eyes as
an XYZ Material, it's Special Summoned back to your
Field during your second Standby Phase, and double
it's attack. This thing has various OTK written ALL
over it. I expect him to make a big impact on the
scene.

Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon
LIGHT/Dragon/Xyz/Effect/Rank 8/4000/3000
2 Level 8 monsters
If this card attacks or is attacked, during damage
calculation (in either player's turn): You can
detach 1 Xyz Material from this card once per
battle; this card gains ATK equal to the combined
Ranks of all Xyz Monsters currently on the field x
200, during that damage calculation only. If this
card in its owner's control is destroyed by your
opponent's card effect while it has "Galaxy-Eyes
Photon Dragon" as an Xyz Material: You can Special
Summon this card during your 2nd Standby Phase after
activation and double its ATK. Any battle damage
this card inflicts to your opponent is halved unless
it has "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" as an Xyz
Material.
Wrapping our first week of Primal Origin cards is
Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon. Number
62 is a generic Rank 8 Xyz monster, (being generic
is always a good thing), LIGHT/Dragon again good
with 4000 ATK and 3000 DEF both which are amazing
for a Rank 8 monster than only needs 2 materials.
Effectwise, the first is a quick effect that
during damage calculation and for that 1 damage
calculation it gains ATK equal to the combined Ranks
of all Xyz monsters x 200. Since that includes
itself it already gains an extra 1600 ATK making it
5600. Seriously why does a card with already high
ATK need an ATK boosting effect. Did Jeremy Clarkson
design this card, since only he would think more
POWER! would be a good idea.
The next effect allows you to bring this monster
back, but only if it was destroyed by your
opponent’s card effect (though with high ATK, it is
probably be the only real way of getting rid of it)
and it had "Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon" as an Xyz
Material (though this will probably be mostly played
in a Photon deck, so thereis a thigh chance of GEPD
being material). However if these two conditions
weren’t bad enough, you have to wait until your
second Standby Phase in order to actually bring it
back and that is a long time in this game. However
it does double its ATK some more POWER!
However all this POWER! comes at a price, if GEPD
isn’t a material all battle damage this card does is
halved, therefore making the special summon effect
nearly pointless because yes it has 8000 ATK but it
wouldn’t do 8000 points of damage. Also this card
has no protection effect which would have been
welcome on a card with such high stats. This card
might be good in a Skill Drain deck where you could
get rid of the annoying damage effect and use cards
like Barbaros as Material.
Overall, a lot of POWER! but without any
protection and a lacklustre special summoning
effect, this card isn’t all that Prime.

Number 62: Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon
This is a long effect. Let me break it down in
simple terms. If you run a Galaxy-Eyes deck (which
isn't super-consistent to begin with), this is a
heavenly good OTK card that can even revive itself
from destruction.
Granted your opponent can prepare for it but they
still need to prepare for an 8000 ATK beater that
can do serious harm. There is a mutual dependent
lock in place to prevent you from having full battle
damage and double attack, but that won't really
stand in your way.
If you don't run a Galaxy-Eyes deck but you
instead run a deck with lots of other LV8 monsters,
this is still a very good option. Like the card
Abyss Dweller, this card isn't something you would
want to summon a lot of the time, but there will be
those moments when you will. It reaches those
hard-to-reach spots like if your opponent summons a
powerhouse you need to run over.
This card can crank up to at least 5600 ATK. So,
even if the battle damage is halved, you can still
inflict a lot of battle damage. By no means an
essential card but it's something that is worth
getting for a well-rounded Rank-8 Extra Deck.

Today we look at a card from the ZeXal anime,
presumably used by Kite/Kaito. I wouldn't know since
I don't watch that show and I refuse to do a Google
search. I do not learn new things, nor do I want to.
I know what I need to know already. You, however,
cannot live like the king does, as you are just a
mere mortal. Yes, quite.
Galaxy-Eyes Prime Photon Dragon is a beater. A
big monster that dominates any other monster out.
That's all this card is. You can detach an Xyz
material from it to raise it from 4000 to at least
5600 during damage calculation, meaning it can
overpower pretty much any monster you meet. If you
have Galaxy-Eyes Photon Dragon as an Xyz material on
it, when it's destroyed by a card effect you get it
back on your field two standby phases later and with
8000 ATK. One caveat is, however, that when
Galaxy-Eyes isn't an Xyz Material for it, any damage
it does is halved.
Here's the strike against it: do you want to
spend two level 8s to make this thing? Obviously it
can be used to great effect in Xyz-based decks
(think Gagaga, Dododo, Galaxy and Gogogo, not Fire
Fists, Mermails or Elemental Dragons), but is it
something that can and should be reliably made
elsewhere? Nope, it really isn't.
