Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon
- #NECH-053 You can detach 2 Xyz Materials from this card, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; its ATK becomes half its current ATK, and if it does, this card gains that lost ATK.

This XYZ is a brute
force beatstick that can get over just about
anything and can stand up to a swarm by weakening
one monster and killing another in battle.
The ATK of this
card becomes stronger, the higher the ATK of the
monster you are weakening. But in any result,
whether you reduce a 1500-ATK monster to 750-ATK or
you reduce a 4000-ATK monster to 2000-ATK, you still
inflict exactly 2500 damage by destroying it in
battle. That's a lot. This card is
victim to trap cards since it's a battle based card,
but the good news is that if the opponent uses
Breakthrough Skill, it's still a burly 2500-ATK
beater.
This card isn't as vital as Castel, ARK, Exciton, et
al., but it's still very good. In an Extra
Deck where space is tight, Rebellion isn't as
essential. Shaddolls need their Fusion space.
BA's need their LV3 space. But in decks that
are centered around LV4 monsters or have a bunch of
LV4's but don't put a huge emphasis on the Extra
Deck, this card will fit in as a quality toolbox
option.

Dark Rebellion Xyz
Dragon
One of the better XYZ cards to be released in the
new era. 2500 attack is a very solid stand alone
number when compared to Castel and 101. His effect
to drain and gain attack is very deadly in the right
situation. This card is sadly a lesser pick in some
situations. If I can only dedicate 3-4 slots for
Rank 4, I will pick Castel, 101, and another utility
card over this guy 99% of the time. In a more
dedicated Rank 4 deck I would play this card but not
much outside of that.

Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon
Yet another brand new “Generic” Rank 4 Xyz, and is
yet another Rank 4 that is going to be forced to
attempt to squeeze into an already tight Extra Deck.
Yet fitting this in is something that I feel may be
well worth it.
It’s effect is pretty simple, detach 2 Xyz materials
from this card to reduce one of your opponents
monsters ATK by half and then gain that exact same
amount of ATK points to this cards ATK.
And even if used against a monster with a paltry
1000 ATK, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon will now become
a 3000 ATK monster!
It’s effect is very simple, but extremely effective
as it should almost always allow you to be able to
run over any monster, and with an already healthy
ATK of 2500, it will mean that when you successfully
run over any attack position monster, you will be
inflicting 2500 Lifepoints of damage to your
opponent.
While you’ll only ever be able to use this effect
just the once, being able to easily bring this cards
ATK to 3000 or above will cause problems for most
monsters.
The only downside is if used against monsters that
cannot be Targeted, as then you will not be able to
use this effect against them.
Traditional: 2.5. May find uses, but won’t be needed
most of the time.
Advanced: 3.5. Because it’s effect permanently
reduces an opponents monsters ATK by half it may
well see use in Decks that struggle to deal with
bigger monsters. |

Next up from the New Challengers we have Dark
Rebellion Xyz Dragon, the main monster of Yuto the
Dark Duellist from Arc-V.
Statwise it’s a generic 2 material Rank 4
DARK/Dragon which is good with 2500 ATK and 2000
DEF, very good stats for a Rank 4.
Effectwise anyone remember the card Riryoku? Well
Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon has a permanent version of
that. Okay no-one actually played Riryoku, but even
a weak monster will give this over 3000 ATK, which
is nothing to be sneezed out. However it does
require both materials, so unless you give this card
more material it is a one shot deal. Also it has no
protection which is never a good thing on anything
that has the chance for high ATK.
It is generic so that is a big boost as always, but
it is hard to see this being played, especially when
there are so many powerful generic 2 material Rank
4s already available, this doesn’t really add much,
just a big beatstick.
Overall, a nice card but this doesn’t really add
anything to Rank 4 decks unless you need a big
beatstick.

Hello Pojo Fans,
Today at CoTD we've got an Xyz monster from the new
set. Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon is a Rank 4. It's
DARK attribute and Dragon-type lends it a tremendous
amount of support. Detach two Xyz materials to halve
a face-up opponents monsters current ATK and then
give that lost ATK to your Xyz Dragon.
2500 ATK is strong for a Rank 4, putting it up there
with Utopia and Silent Honor ARK. It's DEF will lend
it some protection if forced into defense. With no
requirements for summoning, Xyz Dragon is able to be
splashed into any Extra Deck as an offensive
monster. Its Shrink and Honest-like ability allows
it to defeat any monster in a battle based on ATK.
The only downside is that the boost and loss of ATK
will only last until your End Phase. Even after
being defeated it will serve as a resource in the
graveyard as a potential attacker if resurrected, or
as fodder for removing.
Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon can be used in any Extra
Deck, but in a deck that specializes in reattaching
materials to an Xyz monster, its playability rises.
The effect can be used multiple times in one turn.
If you are able to reattach or substitute Xyz
materials (using cards like Xyz Overdrive and
Numbers Overlay Boost), Dark Rebellion could become
a 10,000ATK monster for a turn and weaken two of
your opponents monsters for any of your other
monsters to destroy.
Dark Rebellion isn't a specialized monster that will
gain a field advantage for several turns off of its
effect. It is a monster that is a beatstick,
point-blank. Use it to take out a monster that is
strong and do 2500 Life Point damage to your
opponent. After its effect is used up, it is still a
strong attacker that is easily supported via
attribute and type-based support effects.

So, for today's card, we have the cover card of
Next Challengers, Dark Rebellion Xyz Dragon. For
those of you unfamiliar with the Arc-V anime, it is
the ace card of Yuto, an "alternate" version of Yuya,
and is generally considered to be Odd-Eyes Pendulum
Dragon's counterpart, due to identical stats and
similar naming scheme.
Another addition to the ever-growing rank 4 toolbox,
Dark Rebellion only takes two level 4 monsters to
make. So, it is very easy to make.
Standing at 2500 attack, it is also a target for
both Eradicator Epidemic and Deck Devastation
Viruses, without being as situational(looking at you
Crazy Box).
Its effect is nothing short of amazing. Essentially,
it lets you halve the attack of whatever guy your
opponent has out, then Rebellion Dragon gains that
attack. Take careful note that the attack gain is
permanent, so you can keep beatsticking after it
killed its primary target initially. As long as your
opponent has a monster in attack mode, forgoing
cards that skirt around this effect, they are
getting
2500 to the face, and possibly more damage in the
following turns.
This card is not without its flaws, though. No
protection means a Number 101 might be a preferable
option to go to over this when the scenario calls
for it. Obviously weak to all flavors of traps, but
its main weakness lies in Number 103:Ragnazero. As
long as Rebellion Xyz Dragon remains on the field,
boosted, your opponent has the chance to not only
destroy him, but get a free card off of the trade.
So, overall, a very welcome addition to the rank 4
toolbox.
