Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning Abyss
In Divine Comedy, the lore Burning Abyss was based
on, Virgil was a poet but poets had the cultural
significance that rock stars did today.
Burning Abyss is already a really powerful
control deck but with Virgil it becomes even
stronger.
•
The oft neglected trap card "The Traveler and the
Burning Abyss" is more playable.
•
Returning to the deck is the best kind of removal
available ; and he Malebranches search off of the
discard.
•
This floater replaces itself with a card draw,
making it a safe investment.
•
Using this card requires use of Rubic, which is
practically a vanilla.
That's the downside of this card but its
still workable.
•
This is overall good.
Burning Abyss could use it.

Virgil, Rockstar of the Burning Abyss
This is one of the most anticipated cards cominng
from New Challengers. This card pushes Burning Abyss
to a new level with new tricks. I am not sure if the
current build will choose to adap this card or not
because of how rasiliant the old deck still is. The
tuner generates no advantage when sent to the
graveyard. Making this if played probably only a 1
to 2 copy in my opinion.

Virgil, Rockstar of the Burning Abyss
So, Burning Abyss now get themselves a Burning Abyss
Synchro monster to their arsenal.
Odd thing is that it’s a Spellcaster… Oh well!
Although Virgil is “Generic” as a Synchro, it is
really only going to ever be useful when used along
with a Burning Abyss Deck.
What I feel is most important noting about this card
primarily is how you can Summon it.
Firstly this card makes Genex Ally Birdman a
valuable addition to the Deck as you can Normal
Summon Tour Guide, Special Summon a Burning Abyss,
“Bounce” the Burning Abyss to Special Summon Birdman
and then Synchro Summon into this.
The biggest advantage in this situation is that
because of Virgil’s effect you can then discard that
returned Burning Abyss for Virgil’s effect as well
as being able to gain that Burning Abyss’s effect
once sent to the Graveyard.
The other way to Summon this will be to utilise the
Burning Abyss cards Special Summon if you control no
Spell or Traps effect. To Summon Virgil in this way
you will need to be Summoning Rubic, Malebranche of
the Burning Abyss who is the new Tuner monster for
Burning Abyss released in “The New Challengers” as
well as another Burning Abyss monster.
Just keep in mind though that if you do Special
Summon your Burning Abyss cards and use them to
Synchro Summon Virgil that turn you won’t be able to
use their Graveyard effects during the same turn.
Once per turn you can use Virgil to return 1 card
your opponent controls on the field, or 1 card from
their Graveyard to the Deck, this gives it some
quite handy use against Shaddoll’s or the mirror as
well as several other Decks.
And as an additional advantage, when Virgil is
Destroyed either by Battle or card effect and sent
to the Graveyard, you get to Draw one card. And
although you can only use this effect just the once
per turn, it now increases the strength of Cir even
more.
And being a Light Attribute makes it that little bit
easier for you to Main Deck Black Luster Soldier –
Envoy of the Beginning.
Traditional: 2. Light Attribute, good Discard
effects. Burning Abyss now as a whole have more
potential to make an impact on this format.
Advanced: 3.75. Just rounds out Burning Abyss even
more. While you’ll probably only play 2 of this,
it’s certainly well worth the investment of
Summoning.

Hello Pojo Fans,
The New Challengers just came out and we're starting
the week off with arguably the most desired card in
the whole set: Virgil, Rock Star of the Burning
Abyss. Burning Abyss get a Synchro that has almost
as much power and broken ability as Dante. No
specific requirements to make this level 6
Spellcaster, and even the “downsides” to being able
to only have one on the field at a time and the
standard “once per turn” restriction on its effect,
this card still presses forward. High ATK for a
level 6, Light attribute for chaos fodder, its weak
DEF isn't much of a problem either.
Ditch a “Burning Abyss” card to target a card on the
opponents field or graveyard, and shuffle it back
into the deck. This is a 1 for 1, but if you discard
a “Burning Abyss” monster to activate Virgil's
effect then you will be getting a +1 off the effect.
Virgil clears away things that obstruct your
swarming shenanigans with the “Burning Abyss”
archetype. Combine Virgil with Dante to possibly get
a minimum of 5000LP damage in a turn. If Virgil gets
destroyed by battle or card effect, you draw a card
for your trouble. A 1 for 1 off a destruction of
your own monster is always appreciated.
With the addition of more Burning Abyss monsters
into the archetype, Dante gains more targets to plus
off of with his effect, and Virgil has more targets
to discard to plus off his effect. The archetype was
strong with only three members and one Xyz monster,
now they doubled their monster lineup and have a
Synchro. Burning Abyss isn't leaving Tier 1 anytime
soon.
