Yazi, Evil of the Yang Zing

Yang Zings never took off.  They were always just a weaker version of Burning Abyss.  Maybe Yazi can change things a bit, but Yang Zings still have a way to go.

•    Yang Zings had floaters but lacked power.  Yazi packs lots of it with 2600 ATK.

•    Can't be targeted by opponent's effects.  This effectively makes it immune to a lot of things, though Exciton, Raigeki, etc. Is still fair game.

•    Thankfully, if it ends up being destroyed, it replaces itself, which helps.  But all Yang Zings do that, and this hasn't helped the deck too much.

•    It's removal effect is kinda weak, like a Scrap Dragon.  You can break even on your own card being destroyed but its still a little situational.  Virgil's removal effect is much superior.

Criticisms aside, for Yang Zing standards, this card is really good.  I still have my doubts about Yang Zing rising up some tiers.

Wyrms get another Xyz in the new set with Yazi, Evil of the Yang Zing. Good stats for a level 7 Synchro, Yazi has the added benefit of not being able to be targeted by opponent card effects. Two effects that can be activated once per turn each gives this card flexibility. Yazi has an archetype Scrap Dragon effect as its first effect. Select a “Yang Zing” monster along with a card your opponent controls and destroy both. This effect is going to end up always as a +1, as all “Yang Zing” monsters have the option to Special Summon another “Yang Zing” monster (except a copy of the one you destroyed) from your deck upon destruction. Use this effect to clear a monster or card off the field while at the same time setting up an Xyz or Synchro summon by cycling out one Yang Zing for another.
 
If Yazi is destroyed while you control it and sent to the graveyard, you gain the standard ability of all other “Yang Zing” monsters and can Special Summon another “Yang Zing” monster from your deck in face-up defense position. A 1-for-1 upon destruction is always good. As with swapping out one “Yang Zing” with another with Yazi's first effect, this effect can set up future Synchro and Xyz plays during either turn depending on which Yang Zing's are present on your side of the field.
 
Yang Zings needed a monster that could kill cards your opponent controls, and now they have it in the form of a Synchro monster. With several different level Yang Zings to choose from, and two Tuner monsters to choose from, Yazi shouldn't be hard to make or plus off of.

Yazi, Wickedness of the Yang Zing
 
For today's card, we have, possibly, one of the greatest level 7 Synchro Monsters ever made. For a brief description of it, think Diamond Dire Wolf and Leo, Keeper of the Sacred Tree combined.
 
Standing at level 7, with 2600 attack, it is one of the beefier level 7 Synchro Monsters. Being generic, it is not simply restricted to use in Yang Zings, but any deck that can possibly summon a level 7 monster(Shaddolls come to mind, but are obviously not the only deck). Dark allows for some neat things, such as more compatibility with Shaddolls for fusions, but it's type will usually be negligible.
 
As for its effect, it is, to say the least, amazing. At best, it is a non-targetable powerhouse with no Main Phase 2 weakness, unlike some other giant lion. At worst, it is a Diamond Dire Wolf, able to pop itself(or another Yang Zing) to destroy a card your opponent controls. It's last effect is only usable in Yang Zings, but it is still better off in other decks. Still, being a floater on top of all of this makes it a big threat if your opponent can get it out.
 
What might you summon this against? The deck that this hurts the most is most definitely Burning Abyss. With 2600 attack getting over everything in the deck except some Astral Force targets(which is losing play fast), Acid Golem(which can be a death sentence to them), and Black Luster Solder:Envoy of the Beginning, this card can spell doom for the Burning Abyss player. It also says "No" to all of their valuable backrow, such as Phoenix Wing Wind Blast and Karma Cut. It is better at doing this than Leo was, in that you can't just Wind Blast this in your  Main Phase 2.
 
Overall, a fantastic addition to the level 7 synchro pool. But this still doesn't make Yang Zings much better.
