Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior

As much as I love seeing a sequel to one of my favorite classics, this is not a good one.  When Normal Summoned.  It gets an extra Spell Counter when Pendulum summoned, so it can kill a Spell Card while still keeping its 2400 ATK, but its a big body to accomodate.  I'd rather just use MST smartly then rely on Pendulum Summoning just for quick spell/trap removal.

The problem is that it can only use its ability once per turn.  If I'm going to run a tribute monster that takes care of Spell/Trap cards, I'm going to use Mobius the Frost Monarch because I can hit two cards at once and still keep my 2400 ATK.

This is weaker than a 10 year old Monarch.  And it probably will always be.  And that's sad.

Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior

I feel this monster should not have been 6 stars. It seems to cost heavy to summon this as a tribute monster to generate any advantage. I do like the effect but I simply wish it was a much easier summon.

Breaker, the Dark Magical Warrior, an upgrade, but an improvement over the original Breaker?  Sadly not, but let's discuss.  Still a Dark, Spellcaster Monster, with the same 1600-1000 base stats, but Level 6.  He does more and gets more, but only if Normal Summoned, and since he requires a Tribute, in short, he's just not worth it.  He does get a bonus if he's Pendulum Summoned, and requiring a Tribute, I guess he work in some Tribute Deck, possibly with the Mega Monarchs as they HAVE to be Tributed.  Anyway, said Normal Summon get you two counters, and 400 attack each (2400) which is on par for a Tribute Monster, and one can be removed to destroy a Magic/Trap card on the Field.  A Pendulum Summon grants you an extra counter (2800 attack) but his effect can only be used once a turn, which seems moot enough, but is still troublesome.  Not worthless, just not all together that worthwhile.

Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior

I’m starting to detect a “Theme” with this week… I wonder what it could be?

Essentially this is an upgrade to Breaker the Magical Warrior, the only difference is that you can either Tribute Summon it or Pendulum Summon it.

If you Tribute/ Normal Summon it, Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior will have 2 Spell Counters, but if you Pendulum Summon it you’ll have 3 Spell Counters instead.

Each Spell Counter allows you to gain 400 ATK.

Removing one will of course lower this cards ATK but at least you’ll be able to destroy 1 Spell or Trap card on the field, but only once per turn of course.

It’s real only use I’d suggest would come from Pendulum Summoning this as it will be constant S/T removal every turn, and something that could become quite annoying even for backrow heavy Decks.

Traditional: 1. Nothing to get excited about here!

Advanced: 2.5. Could be useful, yet it all depends on being in a Pendulum Deck for any real gains.

Another classic monster gets an evil version, as Breaker the Magical Warrior gets an evil version; Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior.

Statwise Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior is a DARK/Spellcaster which is great with 1600 ATK and 1000 DEF which is awful for a level 6.

Of course as with the original Breaker, this card gains Spell Counter which in turn can be used to destroy Spell/Trap cards. The ATK boost is now 400 rather than 300, which isn’t bad. However how it is summoned depends on the way it’s summoned.  Normal Summoned will give it 2 Spell Counters making it 2400 ATK which is good for a level 6, while if you Pendulum Summon it, you get 3 making it 2800 ATK, which is great for a level 6.

The problem is if you were going to tribute it, you would be better to go for Mobius since it will have 2400 ATK and destroy 2 spell/Trap cards. Pendulum Summoning it would be the better but there are very few decks that are using Pendulum Monsters.

Overall, as with a lot of these evil version the original version is better.

Breaker gets an upgrade, becoming Breaker The Dark Magical Warrior in this installment of CoTD. Now a level 6, he has the same stats, but his spell counter effect gets changed up depending on how you summon him. If Normal Summoned, he gets two, if Pendulum Summoned, he gets three. Each spell counter on this Breaker grants him a 400ATK boost, while retaining his once per turn removal of a counter for opponent s/t destruction.

This Breaker isn't as good as the original in my opinion. While you gain more counters in regards to how you summon him, the original Breaker was an easy and versatile card to play. Summon, gain effect, remove, pop, attack. This Breaker needs to be Tribute Summoned in most cases, or Pendulum Summoned to gain its effect. If his effect to remove and destroy had increased, then he may have been worth taking a look at (especially in Pendulum Decks), but because it's only once per turn, I say stick with the original. Both can be searched the same way, both are Spellcasters, the only difference is the level, and the number of counters they can attain (1 for the original, infinite for this one). There's combos that can make this cards playability rise. Combo with Storm of The Monarch to eliminate a monster on your opponents side while taking out a s/t once Breaker hits the field.

Run 2 or more of this guy in a Pendulum deck. In other decks we probably won't see this card appearing.

Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior

A long time ago, Breaker the Magical Warrior used to be Forbidden. Now in 2014, Breaker’s hardly relevant and its big brother Breaker the Dark Magical Warrior isn’t exactly dominating right now either. When it’s Normal Summoned, the Level 6 Spellcaster gets two counters and can pop them off one at a time to destroy a Spell or a Trap. It’s very similar to Mobius the Frost Monarch, but with a different attribute and type. I suppose this card was built to encourage pendulum plays, but its Pendulum effect isn’t really anything special. Considering that you can only destroy one spell or trap per turn, I’d still say something like Mobius the Frost Monarch is a lot better.
