For fun, here's the order I rank Lightsworn monsters in:

Lumina > Raiden > Lyla > Garoth > Ehren > Felis > Wulf > Ryko > Jain > Minerva > Celestia > Gragonith > the other bad ones.

Felis, Lightsworn Archer

On Japanese release, she has been much coveted by many players, but time (or power creep) has sobered up expectations.  As a Lightsworn monster, for a Lightsworn deck, she could be good, since she could always be dumped with Solar Recharge or Monster Reincarnation.  If anything, Felis is another name for Judgment Dragon.  In terms of splashability, decks that don't have a lot of Lightsworn support wouldn't want to splash her in.

The risk of a dead draw opening hand is too much.  I tried her in Shaddolls, and while it wasn't a horrible choice, there were a lot better choices (even in the Lightsworn family) to splash.

Assessments

Power – 3 ; Thins your deck and removes a monster.  Counts as a Lightsworn to help speed up the deck and help achieve its goals, and gives you access to Synchros.  Nothing game-changing, but still quite good.

Versatility – 4 ; Generally, you want to destroy monsters.  The fact that this card doubles as a tuner (lv4) can be helpful too.  Mathematician can use its effect and be tuned up by this card into a LV7 Synchro.

Dependability – 2 ; Since it can't be summoned from the hand once you draw it, it's pretty much dead weight.  It needs other cards to work.

Card Advantage – 3 ; Is a 1-for-1 monster removal most of the time ; removing a floater is hardly commendable.  If you mill something with her effect or summon her on a mill, you might get more of a plus.

Speed – 3 ; Ignition effect.

Ratings

Traditional – 2.5/5 ; It's a LIGHT that mills, and is easier to manage in this format.

Advanced – 3/5 ; Will surely see some (though not a ton) of play this format.  Depends on the playstyle of the player.

Mechanic Design – 3/5 ; They made sure that this wouldn't be the dominant Lightsworn by adding the summon restriction, but did they go too far?

Artwork – 1/5 ; A sexist male-gaze butt-shot.  Just who is this supposed to satisfy?  Furries?

Verdict

A defensive removal-based version of Wulf.  A borderline case, but can be useful.

Felis, Lightsworn Archer, like many lightsworn monsters, can be amazing at some points in a duel, and an absolute nightmare to have during others. Since she cannot be normal summoned or set, and must be special summoned by a card effect, she is the last card you want to see during your once per turn draw at draw phase. In fact, you rarely if ever want to see her in your starting hand either. That's because her effect shines when she is utilized from the deck, either from classic Lightsworn milling techniques, or the newly favored and every handy mathematician effect. She is dead weight in the hand.

When she is sent to the graveyard by a monster effect, you special summon her. You can tribute her, to target a monster your opponent controls, destroy the target, then send the top 3 cards of your deck to the graveyard. This is a pretty useful effect in itself, although it is somewhat limited having to be a monster you target, and only of your opponents control. The milling is also mandatory, which can certainly be useful, but isn't always desirable.

However, she happens to be a level 4 tuner, so this sets up instant rank 7 plays with Mathematician. With Mathematician and this card in the deck, Math essentially becomes a 1 card rank 7 engine, letting you utilize Black Rose Dragon, or even the ever powerful Arcanite Magician. Level 4 for a tuner is just a really quality level, combine with math and another level 4 to make Star Eater for example, or with another level 3 monster in addition to Mathematician to make Leo, Keeper of the Sacred Tree.

Felis certainly is splashable, and many different archetypes are including her as a tech from Shaddolls to Lightsworns. Her 2000 defense is also pretty convenient and allows you to plant her on the field for a turn or so in some cases to use her effect your next turn around.  Overall, Felis is a welcome addition to the Lightsworn Archetype and a great card to consider for your deck.

Ratings

Traditional – 1.5/5

Advanced – 3.5/5

Mechanic Design - 3.75/5 : Unique effect that has a lot to offer, but is held back by some clumsy design choices.

Artwork - 3.75/5 : Felis looks like she can hold her own quite well, and the background is visually pleasing as well.

Felis, Lightsworn Archer

This biggest weakness with Felis is that it can only be Summoned via card effect, this greatly reduces how good this card could be as the fact that it is a Level 4 Tuner would otherwise be quite helpful if you could Normal Summon it.

Some expected ways to Summon Felis are going to be via Lumina, Summoner Monk if playing Twilight and of course Soul Charge

What is unusual about Felis is that it gives no benefit to the Lightsworn player when milled or face-up on the field during the End Phase.

As for it’s effect, what is quite good about the effect is that because it is required to be Tributed as a cost, it gets to dodge cards such as Fiendish Chain (keep in mind though that this is going to be seeing less or no play), and more importantly Skill Drain.
However it does only destroy 1 monster that your opponent controls so it may really only be useful in “pinch” situations only. And only once you destroy that target you get to mill 3 cards.
There is a problem with Felis though and apart from what I mentioned above, if the selected Target of Felis’s effect is removed or made otherwise unable to be destroyed, you will not get to send the cards to the Graveyard, and considering the effort that is essentially going to be required to getting Felis onto the field to begin with, this is a major downfall with this cards effect.

Sadly because Felis is hard to Summon, does not provide valuable milling during the End Phase and can have it’s effect dodged, not too much Deck space should be invested on this card… I’d suggest no more than 1 slot.
And while being a Tuner would normally be a great asset for Lightsworns, because of Raiden this benefit is made all but obsolete.

At least Felis is another name, and even though there are pitfalls with it, it does on the odd occasion become useful.

Traditional: 1. Lightsworns are far too random for this format, and even if they weren’t there simply is no good reason for you to add Felis into a Traditional Format Lightsworn Deck.

Advanced: 1.25. You play 1 of it in Lightsworns if you play it, so this should suggest alone how good this card is! Don’t completely write it off though.

Felis, Lightsworn Archer

Next up we have a new Lightsworn Tuner; Felis, Lightsworn Archer aka Little Miss trying-to-hard.

Statwise Felis, Lightsworn Archer is a LIGHT/Beast-Warrior, which is an odd combination but being a LIGHT monster is the only really important thing in a Lightsworn monster. It’s  a level 4 tuner which is great with 1100 ATK and 2000 DEF, solid for a level 4 defender but what is the obsession with DEF recently?

Effectwise this is where Little Miss trying-to-hard gets her name, basically she is a horrible amalgamation of Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter and Wulf, Lightsworn Beast and all three are better than this.

First off she is a Level 4 Tuner like Raiden but Raiden doesn’t have any restrictive summoning conditions, so she fails as a Level 4 Tuner. Like Wulf she can’t be normal summoned/set and can only be special summoned by a card effect. However while Wulf allows you to special summon itself via its own effect just by dumping it into the graveyard, Felis requires a monster effect to dump it in order to be special summoned via its own effect. So unlike Wulf you can’t just use Foolish Burial to get her out, therefore again hurting this card’s playability.

Finally you can tribute this card to target and destroy 1 monster your opponent controls and then send the top 3 cards of your deck to the graveyard. Little Miss trying-to-hard strikes out again, as Ryko can discard the same number of cards but destroy any card on the field and it doesn’t have to tribute itself to do so. Also given the restrictive summoning conditions, it makes no sense to get it out and then get rid of it.

Overall a terrible Lightsworn card; if I want to play a level 4 Lightsworn tuner, I’d play Raiden; if I want a monster I can’t normal summon/set, I’d play Wulf; if I want to destroy a  card and mill 3 cards, I’d play Rkyo. There is no need for this card to be in a Lightsworn deck or even exist.

Hello Pojo Fans,

The final (for now) in the new additions to the Lightsworn army, Felis is a balanced female counterpart to Wulf, Lightsworn Beast. Same summoning conditions as Wulf, with it only being able to be Special Summoned by a card effect or being sent from the deck to the graveyard. Felis lacks the ATK Wulf has, but her effect to tribute herself to destroy a monster your opponent controls, then mill 3 cards makes up for her weak ATK. She has a strong DEF (2000), making her an option against standard beatsticks, and being a tuner allows her plays Wulf doesn't have. Lumina and her make the Lightsworn-themed Synchro, Michael, while her and Wulf can make any level 8 Synchro or Rank 4 Xyz. Lightsworns are all about Special Summoning and with another Wulf-like monster that could be run in 3's that doubles as a level 4 tuner, it opens up more possibilities and stability for Lightsworn milling. She can be ditched with Lightsworn Sanctuary or Solar Recharge, just to be brought back by Lumina later, and with Raiden in the lineup for Lightsworns more milling occurs than before. Her ability to tribute herself to destroy a monster on your opponents side of the field gives Lightsworns an easier option other than Celestia to clear a last line of defense, but balanced enough that she can't be easily thrown onto the field by Normal Summon just to activate her effect.

Felis could be run in another deck, but with the need to be Special Summoned to reach the field at all, she is too narrow to be consistent in anything other than Lightsworns.

Today we review the newest Lightsworn support to hit the TCG, Felis The Lightsworn Archer. Felis is what I somewhat refer to as a "Neo Lightsworn" because you'll see it played in many decks outside the LS deck itself. You never see Garoth, or Ehren, or even Wulf outside a LS deck, which is kind of amusing since Felis in many ways is simply a far superior version of Wulf. Like Wulf, despite being a 4 star monster, you cannot simply normal summon or set it and instead it must be brought out via a card effect. Luckily she has a built in summon effect which allows it to be special summoned if it is sent to the graveyard via a monster effect. Laval Chain? Sure! Mathematician? Absolutely! In fact early shaddoll builds ran her with Mathematician for an instant black rose play to bait out cards or simply clear the field. In Lightsworn, you can make fun plays like having access to Lumina/Garoth, summon Felis via Lumina's effect, use Felis to destroy a monster and send 3 cards, which will trigger Garoth to potentially give you free draws, and free draws is never bad, right? As hinted to with the Mathematician, she's a 4 star tuner making synchro plays obscenely easy in LS or any deck that can mill it. Ancient Sacred Wyvern, one of my favorite synchros, becomes live again(cause the last time I played it was Plant Format w/ a teched Fabled Kushano and technically it was live with the release of Raiden..but I digress). Her biggest drawbacks though are obviously that of Lightsworn's 2 best cards, Charge of the Light Brigade and Solar Recharge. While they won't trigger her effect, they can put her in the graveyard to fuel Judgment Dragon, or simply as a target for Lumina's effect.

Traditional - 2.75/5 - Soooo many ways to bring her out via card effect
Advanced 3.25/5 - Still a great card that will see some play but her initial usefulness seems to be waining as people shift their strategies as more combos are discovered

Lightsworn!? That’s my specialty! :D

Felis, Lightsworn Archer is a little late to the party, seeing as she’s the only new Lightsworn that wasn’t released in the Realm of Light Structure Deck back in June. Regardless, she is still worth looking into.

1100 ATK is not very impressive, but 2000 DEF certainly is. Felis, much like Wulf, cannot be Normal Summoned or Set, and can only be Special Summoned by card effect. This makes her pretty awful to draw, as she can’t be played normally and also cannot be Pendulum Summoned. However, she, much like Wulf, can be Special Summoned if sent from the Deck to the Graveyard by a monster effect; unlike Wulf, she cannot be summoned if sent by the effect of a Spell like Solar Recharge, or if sent by the cost of a card like Card Trooper. This makes her a little less reliable in that sense.

By Tributing herself, Felis can destroy any monster your opponent controls, and then mill 3 cards off the top of your Deck. You can see this as a slightly less useful but much quicker version of Ryko’s effect. It is also pretty similar to the effect of Exiled Force (jeez, I remember when that card was relevant. .__. ).

The major selling point of Felis, however, is that she’s a Level 4 Tuner. This means you can summon her off of Mathematician and then make an instant Level 7 Synchro play, which includes Arcanite Magician. However, you cannot summon Michael through this method. This play is the reason Felis is an option in Shaddoll Decks; even if you draw her she becomes Fusion Material for Construct.

Within a Lightsworn Deck, Felis has her applications. She’s not the best card to mill, because if you get her during the Main Phase she was probably either milled off of a Spell or milled of Raiden, at which point you have 2 Tuners (though you can still make a Rank 4 play out of this). If you mill her during the End Phase, there’s no guarantee that she’s going to live to the next turn to utilize her. However, Felis, unlike Raiden, gets under Bottomless, meaning she’s much safer to summon off of Lumina.

Overall, Felis isn’t super amazing, but I would at least classify her as good.

Traditional: 2/5

Advanced: 3/5
