| Doomstar Magician This card is only good for Decks that run
Pendulum monsters, or for Decks that need more ways
to interrupt their opponents Pendulum Summons
outside of using Mystical Space Typhoon. If you choose/ are able to Pendulum Summon
Doomstar Magician, you’ll be essentially able to
constantly use this cards effect as often as you
want, and even if you are the only player utilising
Pendulums this card does provide some interesting
opportunities that aren’t quite obvious at face
value. As for the discard that is required for Doomstar
Magician’s cost, as long as you destroy the selected
Pendulum Zone card, you get to replace that lost
card by drawing another card. While an opportunity
for your opponent to ensure that you don’t get that
Draw exists, the reality is that they are going to
be required to either waste an MST on that card or
destroy it/ remove it with some other card effect,
both of which can help you in the long run anyhow,
so such a thing for the most part I would suspect to
be quite an unlikely event. One of the ways in which Doomstar Magician may be
used to best effect is when used to destroy one of
your Pendulum Zone monsters, replace that card with
another Pendulum monster from your hand and then
during that same turn Summon that Pendulum monster
that has just been sent from your Pendulum Zone. And of course if you are playing against an opponent
who is using Pendulums, once you can start clearing
out your opponents Pendulum Zones with this you
reduce your opponent’s opportunities to set up
							again.
Also since Doomstar Magician’s effect doesn’t have
the restriction of “You can only use the effect of
Doomstar Magican once per turn” this means that if
you can Summon 2 or more you would simply be able to
clear your opponents Pendulum Zones in one turn, a
thing that could quite likely make it extremely
difficult for your opponent to come back from… Even
							if used just the once.
My suggestion for this card would be to Pendulum
Summon it if you were using it in a Pendulum Deck,
but especially if playing against a Pendulum Deck.
In Traditional format, this card can be Summoned
quite easily with Spellbook of Judgment, however
Pendulums are simply not powerful enough to compete
here at least yet. While opportunities may well eventually exist for
this card to shine, especially if used well, now is
not quite that time as Pendulums aren’t quite
powerful enough… Quilphort’s may change that though.
							 Traditional: 1. Pendulums aren’t a factor here.
Advanced: 2.5. I’m giving this a raised score
from what it currently would be fair to receive
since I see real potential with this. If Pendulums
really come into the fore this rating may be able to
							be raised. Watch this space…
