The Traveler and the Burning Abyss
Of the five Burning Abyss (BA) cards, this is the
worst of them.
Do I think it's a horribly bad card?
No.
In fact, it might even be a little
underrated.
But it's not as good as other trap cards that
are available.
Lots of Burning Abyss decks are using cards
like Karma Cut and Phoenix Wing Wind Blast since the
BA monsters replenish the cost by activating their
effects.
So, basically Traveler and the Burning Abyss revives
the amount of BA's sent to the graveyard this turn.
Usually, that would be 1 or 2.
Rarely 3 or more.
Maybe this card could work and if you have the
space, and the willingness to be a bit different
from the rest, you can try this card.
But don't run any more than one of these.
Most Burning Abyss players avoid this card
outright, though, and do so with good reason.
Most of the time, all this card really is is a less
versatile Call of the Haunted.
Again, I can't say its a "bad" card, but it doesn't
do anything extremely important either.
In time, it will probably be a good card when
there are more combos for the deck in future sets.
For now, ehhh....
Assessments
Power – 3/5 ; This can create a defense wall, help
you XYZ, and up your field presence.
It also can help you swarm.
But the other aspects of the card make it
suffer.
Versatility – 2/5 ; Unless you discard something you
want to bring back, there's not much to do with this
card.
Dependability – 2/5 ; This card is really
situational.
You need to have BA's sent to the graveyard
and you need to have set it for a turn.
This is like a weaker version of Rekindling.
Card Advantage – 2/5 ; It's a chainable card (later
in the turn) that can net you 1 or 2 floaters.
You rarely plus out of it though.
Speed – 2/5 ; Traps are slow when it comes to
Special Summoning.
