Snatch Steal

This was made legal for a format and then banned again.  While it wasn't a total monstrosity, it did lean on the side of broken.  In Traditional, however, while this is a really good card still, deck space (especially for Spells) is much much tighter.  And Snatch Steal doesn't do anything first turn, which is a weakness in that fast format.  Nonetheless, it's a strong versatile card with some OTK potential.

3.75/5 (In Traditional ; currently banned in Advanced)

Paladin

Shifting to cards that have been Banned (again), we come to Snatch Steal.  Snatch Steal is one of four cards in my opinion that should just be Banned forever, the other being Yata, CED, and Pot of Greed, on accounts of their just that good.  As everyone on Earth should know, Snatch is just that good, and I'm sure you've won and probably lost as many games by this card.  It doesn't need to return...ever

Rating:  Banned, but it'd be 5/5

Hello Pojo Fans,

This wasn't that hard of a choice to be re-banned. Snatch Steal was far too powerful to let back into the TCG and after a few short months it finds itself back on the ban list.

Taking an opponents monster and only having them gain 1000LP each turn you have possession of their monster isn't much of a downside at all. Xyz, Synchro, Tribute, or finish your opponent off before they can even benefit from that 1000LP gain, and even if they do, the likelihood that you didn't do more than 1000LP damage with the monster you snatched up is highly unlikely.

The argument was that with 3 MST's available, along with a host of other effects throughout the game that allow for spell/trap destruction on either turn, that Snatch Steal could find playability and NOT somehow be overpowering, how wrong they were. You won't always have that MST or Dust Tornado or effect monster to gain your monster back and not be affected negatively by your opponents Snatch Steal.

It needed to be banned again, and who knows when, if again, it will come back.

If there was any way for Konami to best say, “We’re sorry, we screwed up,” it was by re-banning Snatch Steal.

We reviewed this card three months ago when it came off the banlist, and pretty much everything I expected from it ended up being reality; the card was broken, it stole games, and it was absolutely unhealthy. Taking control of monsters is one of the strongest things you can do in this game, and power creep over the years has not changed that; Snatch Steal had no place in the game with how strong it was.

For the short time that I played in the previous format, I both won and lost so many games that should have had a different result solely because one of us drew Snatch Steal.

Good riddance. My Ultra Rare copy of this card is sitting in my binder of Forbidden Cards where it belongs.

Rating: Banned (5/5 when legal)

Snatch Steal

I would say that the most surprising thing about Snatch Steal was that it was Un-Banned for a Format, as it most certainly did not do anything to contribute to the game in a positive way at all.

Alone this could decide the outcome of games, it always had that ability and a newer Format did absolutely nothing to change this glaringly obvious fact.

Snatch Steal being “Legal” also allowed for Hidden Armory to be simply included into a Deck without that much consideration on some points as while using Hidden Armory to get or reuse Snatch Steal may have cost you your Normal Summon and/ or Set for the turn, it has/ had no such restrictions on Special Summoning, thus allowing for Snatch Steal to be used while not actually hindering the Deck in any real way.

While Hidden Armory did allow for Snatch Steal to be searched and reused with ease, the fact was that too much advantage could simply be obtained by using Snatch Steal well, Hidden Armory only allowed for it to be used more frequently.

Snatch Steal deserves to once again be back where it belongs… Banned… It WAS fun to use for the short amount of time that we could. All its return did prove though was that no matter how much power creep ever creeps into this game, Snatch Steal will never become irrelevant.

Rating: 4.99. Only the fact that this is an Equip Spell loses this card points, BUT, that it is searchable also gains it points.

Oh, and I suppose you could consider the fact that it may give your opponent 1000 LP per each of their Standby Phases… Chances are that this will prove to be all but irrelevant on but the most rarest of occasions.
