Lonefire
Blossom
Was never reviewed when it was
released since, at the time, Plants had nothing
worth searching.
But this card became quite strong as the
Plant/Synchro formats and the Sylvans came along.
Now’s probably the right time to lax this
card as it’s good quality support but not high tier
either.

Can you believe that 1) Lonefire Blossom was
never reviewed? That's our collective bad on
that one. And 2) that it was just a rare when
released in Phatom's Darkness. Lonefire
Blossom was the heart and soul of many Plant Decks
revolving around Black Rose Dragon, and even not, in
the Synchro era, and finds itself at 3, mostly
because a lot of those Decks just aren't relevant
anymore. This card was great because it turned
into advantage for you quickly, and easily, only
even being able to be used once a turn. It
lets you Tribute a face-up Plant you control to
Special Summon another from your Deck.
Honestly, it takes more than 3 of these to grow
Plants back to Tier 1, but it sure helps, and it
only takes 1 Plant Deck to do so at a Regional or
something and top 8 to change our collective mind...

Hello Pojo Fans,
Lonefire Blossom has made its way onto the ban list
once again, but this time it is now unlimited rather
than being restricted. I can remember when this
little Plant-Type was feared for its game-breaking
ability and setup potential, which it still
possesses.
Simple effect: once per turn you can tribute a
Plant-Type to Special Summon a Plant-Type from your
deck. The traditional play was always to summon
Lonefire, then tribute it for the Plant-Type you
were looking for. Tytannial Princess of Camellias
was the popular choice, but Dandylion was also there
to be chosen. You could also tribute Dandylion with
Lonefire to search out a Plant-Type, get 2 Fluff
Tokens, then use those Tokens as tributes for
effects. Lonefire also can combo with Debris Dragon
for a quick Level 7 Synchro monster. Lonefire can
also search out Spore or Glow-Up Bulb for access to
more Synchro and Xyz options (more plays available
if tributing Fluff Tokens). Revival cards are still
availabe in plentiful amounts to help abuse this
card as well. Limit Reverse is at 3, Call of The
Haunted is at 3, Soul Charge at 1, and now this is
at 3, you shouldn't have any problem using this card
at least more than once.
Lonefire may have become unlimited though because
Plant-based decks aren't in high demand right now.
Sylvans have dropped off after the limiting of Soul
Charge, and Naturias never were able to solidify a
spot high in the tiers of gameplay. Could I see
someone finding a way to use Lonefire now at 3 to
their advantage? Yes, but not likely in a Tier 1
deck to be competitive.

Somehow we’ve never reviewed Lonefire Blossom,
which is weird because it has an extensive history
of competitive use. Initially Semi-Limited to
prevent abuse with Symbol of Heritage, Lonefire saw
its peak in popularity during the era of Plant
Synchro, which ended it up on the Limited list.
After dwelling there for several formats, it was
finally released up back to Semi-Limited, and the
April 2015 list has just moved it back to Unlimited
in exchange for Symbol of Heritage going to 1.
It’s unlikely that Symbol would actually make triple
Lonefire a problem realistically, but the card is
overall an unhealthy one so a Limit is fine.
Lonefire at 3, for all intents and purposes, is
equivalent to Lonefire at 2 but more consistent.
This is a significant boost to Decks like Sylvan
that strengthens their opening plays, and also gives
them access to the lone Symbol of Heritage (or up to
four copies of it if you fancy Hidden Armory).
