Storming Mirror Force

There's a lot worse trap cards out there, but most of the time, this is going to be a weaker version of Mirror Force, unless you're dealing with an Extra Deck monster that's immune to destruction.  Otherwise, returning cards to the opponent's hand would just allow them to reuse it.  On the plus side, it'll be a great addition to a Degenerate Circuit deck, which must by now be at tier 574.

There are variants of Mirror Force that are crap...Radiant, Dark, Mirror Gate (also there's Blazing Mirror Force which actually IS pretty legit but only Japanese still if I'm not mistaken) and today, we expand the group a bit with Storming Mirror Force.  As has been said by myself and numerous others countless times, it is ALMOST always better to destroy than not.  But Storming Mirror Force adds a very interesting bounce twist to what we know Mirror Force (even variants) to do.  As opposed to destroying whatever various position or random stipulation required etc etc, SMF lets you return ALL attack position Monsters your opponent controls to their Hand after they declare an attack.  Why might this be better...it's easier to revive from the Graveyard, than return to the Field from the Hand, and the options for a Special Summon from the Hand are much less than from the Graveyard also.  Second, you know all these cards are back in the Hand, so you can at least (attempt one would think) to prepare for them.  This Trap IS good, almost worthy of having Mirror Force in its title.  I kind of see it as Techy, but maybe not.  Mirror Force sits at about 4.25/5 at present, so this card has to fall lower than that.  Still good though.

T-REX Storming Mirror Force

Essentially this card is a combination of both Mirror Force and Compulsory Evacuation Device.
And quite simply, the above observation almost totally explains what this card does, your opponent attacks, you return all their ATK position monsters to their hand.

This card will mostly shine when it is able to be used against Extra Deck monsters or monsters that cannot be Destroyed or otherwise take some sort of an effort to actually Summon.

Rating: 3. While potentially useful enough, the fact that it may be less effective against Decks that don’t Summon from the Extra Deck makes this card a little random in how effective it may well actually be.

Storming Mirror Force is a card that sets itself apart from its regular Mirror Force counterpart. While Mirror Force destroys all of your opponents ATK position monsters, Storming Mirror Force returns them to their owner's hand. This really, really hurts decks that rely upon the extra deck. XYZs, Fusion and Synchro monsters most likely wont get any effects by this happening and XYZs will lose their materials, and all the mentioned will go back to the extra deck. Even Ritual monsters are damaged by Storming Mirror Force as your opponent will have to waste resources to summon that monster again. Played smartly, this card can be just as destructive as Mirror Force. But like Mirror Force, it's a regular Trap card that can be negated through means of counter traps and monster effects. It's also vulnerable to Mystical Space Typhoon and others cards that destroy/send it back to the hand before you can use it. Still, that should not stop you from using this card. It's really good.

Warlockblitz

Continuing with the theme for this week, we have another secret rare card from Clash of Rebellions. Storming Mirror Force. This card is a fusion of two older cards, Mirror Force and Compulsory Evacuation Device. Mirror Force has the same activation requirements and specifically does NOT target all attack position monsters on your opponent's side of the field, just like this card. Compulse sends monsters back to the hand. SMF does a great job of clearing an opponent's board when it's full of Extra Deck Monsters. However, Nekroz monsters love being in the hand, and a clear board for them mean more spells being banished from the grave and added to their hand. This card (like Mirror Force) does nothing to the new Red-Eyes boss fusion or monsters like Armades and Star Eater.

Does anyone remember when Penguin Soldier was everywhere? Bouncing cards back to the hand was huge because graveyard revival was so easy. Now, there are many more decks that gain advantage from a variety of locations. I feel that this card would have scored higher if Nekroz wasn't so popular. Also, regular mirror force has gained utility because of Mirror Force Dragon.

Finally, conditional trap cards are not chainable. Compulse is. Denko (and Jinzo) still laugh at set traps. I love that it doesn't target multiple monsters or destroy, but it's not perfect.

Score: 3/5 It's good, but only as good as your opponent attacking into it.
Art: 1/5 If it's a "storm" I want some lightning bolts or something.

Why destroy your opponent's monsters when you can simply bounce them back to the hand? ….Wait. That doesn't sound very productive. Isn't the objective of the game to take away your opponent's cards? Why set him/her up for a comeback next turn?

Unless you're bouncing back Fusions, Synchros or XYZ Monsters, I really don't see the potential for this card. It looks pretty, yes, but “bounce” cards are in my opinion just a way of you prolonging the inevitable. But hey, I'm a “go for the kill” kind of player, so what do I know? Knock yourself out. If you dare.

Final Score: 2/5
