PSY-Framelord Omega

This by far is the BEST Synchro monster that has been released in a long time, and actually is one of the best Synchro monsters in the game, and right now, it is extremely relevant to the meta, primarily because it is used in everything that can summon it, but also because it is used in EmEm, the current deck to beat.

Because PSY-Framelord Omega is a level 8, it means that it fits into the Rank 4 “Toolbox” of EmEm… The summon of this here is by using the Tuner, Masked Chameleon, whom is searchable from the Deck via King of the Feral Imps, then Pendulum Summoned, or, is revivable from the Graveyard via Elder Entity Norden and (Masked Chameleon) can also be normal summoned and using its effect, can revive Vector Pendulum, the Dracoverlord for a 1 card Summon of PSY-Framelord Omega.

However, far more than simply EmEm has made superb use of this card, Infernoids have gained great use out of it because of its abilities, as well as the fact that it could help to enable more summoning by refuelling the graveyard of Infernoid monsters. Lightsworns have been able to use it since it can be useful in recovering banished Necro Guardna’s or Lightsworn’s, Zombie Decks can use it to “Loop” Mezuki for continuous re-use. The currently irrelevant Nekroz and Shaddoll decks can use it effectively. Blackwings can use it to recycle Blackwing – Vayu the Emblem of Honor. And finally, let’s not forget that PSY-Frames get excellent use out of this!

What makes this card so truly important though isn’t simply its innate ability to fit seamlessly into almost any Deck that is able to summon it, but instead, how good it is comes down to how effective each of its effects are, and while generally when reviewing we try and avoid “Listing” the effects of a card, the effects of PSY-Framelord Omega are so useful, that in this instance, I’ll make an exception to this “Rule”…

Ability 1 “Dodging”… Surely everyone has had Omega continuously snipe a card from your hand while never being around to actually take the “Hit” for its actions? This effect is wholly annoying, and is not only useful at being able to help your opponent gain inside knowledge as to what you are holding in your hand, but it can also prevent plays that you’d otherwise be able to make during a turn. But not only this, as it can chain to the activation of a card, it is able to avoid being affected by a card like Bottomless Trap Hole, unless you can additionally respond to its effect and thus beat it.

Ability 2 “Recovery”… When one CARD, not just monsters or spells or traps, and not only just yours, but CARDS are banished, during each of your opponent’s standby phases, you are able to return a banished card back to the graveyard, this means that cards that are best in the graveyard are able to be returned there, but not simply that, it means that banishing an opponent’s cards is not necessarily an effective measure at removing them permanently from the game. And since cards like Performage Damage Juggler and Mezuki enjoy being re-used, PSY-Framelord Omega just turns those cards into “Abuse me more” types of cards!

Ability 3 “I’ll be back”… So, you’ve just used Solemn Warning to negate the summon of PSY-Framelord Omega have you? Well, Arnie, I mean Omega, is now able to target 1 CARD in either players graveyard, return it to the deck and then Omega is returned to the extra deck, and you guessed it, Omega is able to then come back… Just like Arnie! And of course, any time during your turn that PSY-Framelord Omega finds himself in your graveyard just wasting away, this ability can come in extremely handy as not only does it return Omega to your extra deck, but more importantly you can use it to recycle an extra deck monster, any card that you’d prefer to be in your deck back in and also you can use this effect to affect your opponent’s graveyard, potentially preventing them from performing some plays… And returning cards to the main deck can in some instances be the best way to deal with a problematic card, after all, this ability is what makes Castel, the Skyblaster Musketeer so darn good!

Rating: 4.75. The only thing that I haven’t mentioned is the ATK of PSY-Framelord Omega, and the reason for this is that it is the most unimportant part of the card since its effects are simply so good, however, 2800 is pretty hefty! This monster is quite probably one of the most useful “Toolbox’ monsters ever created as it has several effects that will remain important for a long time to come. For me this is quite clearly one of the best cards released for the entire year and as long as extra decks can summon this, and it supports that deck, I’d expect to find it there.

Baneful

Welcome to our top 10.  This card is the burly boss of the Psy-Frame deck, a great splashable option for any deck with a Tuner and the very best LV8 Synchro monster in the game at this point.  I didn't include this card on my list because we reviewed it very recently already, but it is one of the best cards of 2015.

Having a strong 2800 ATK along with being able to temporarily banish this card during the opponent's turn (so that it can't be affected by the opponent's cards) makes this a tough card to deal with.  However, during your turn, be careful because it's still vulnerable to trap cards and other reactive effects.  There are two ways you can use this banish-dodge effect.  First, immediately during the Main Phase 1 you instantly use the effect to temporarily banish a card from the opponent's hand.  This will (a) reveal what cards the opponent are using and (b) limit the opponent's options during their turn.  If the opponent is low on card advantage or is topdecking, this effect can essentially be similar to a Yata-lock.  Good for a late-game grind.  The 2nd way to use this card is to not use the effect immediately but wait for the opponent to desperately waste removal on it.

The effect of recovering banished cards is icing on the cake, as is being able to disrupt the opponent's graveyard power and simultaneously returning this card back to your Extra Deck.  It's self-recycling ability means that you can do well with only running 1 (or 2, in case 1 happens to be permanently banished), saving you tight Extra Deck space.  A must-own card.

Today we actually start our countdown for the Top 10 Cards of 2015. A lot of cards on the list I submitted ended up not making it on the overall list, but 2015 was filled with a lot of incredible cards, especially during the latter half of the year. Like in 2014, I will mention a card’s position on my personal list (if it was there), and at the end of the year I will publish my full list.

With that being said, #10 on our list is PSY-Framelord Omega.

Position on my list: #6

The most popular card from High-Speed Riders, PSY-Framelord Omega is one of the best Synchro Monsters in recent times, and arguably one of the best Synchro Monsters ever. With a very strong 2800 ATK as well as three solid effects (including one that returns him to the Extra Deck), this card has quickly become a staple in any Deck that can churn out Level 8 Synchro Monsters. Omega is a very strong opening play, as he is able to save himself with his self-banishing effect, while also sniping a card from the opponent’s hand temporarily, hindering their plays and giving you valuable knowledge on what they have. His ability to return cards that are banished to the Graveyard has proven incredibly potent in many Decks, particularly Performage (to recycle Damage Juggler) and Infernoids.

Overall, PSY-Framelord Omega is a major force to be reckoned with, and if you can get around the $30 price tag associated with him, he’s well worth adding to your arsenal.

Lullaby

Hello Pojo Fans,

PSY-Framelord Omega comes in at #10 in our Top Cards of 2015 here at Pojo.com. This Synchro has a great deal going for it on the surface involving its stats, Attribute, and Type. Not requiring specific syncing materials helps its playability as well.

Banishing a card from your opponents hand along with this card until your next Standby Phase eliminates an asset to your opponent, as well as allows you to see what your opponent has in their hand. Every turn this card returns you can use this effect, selecting a different card each time (unless your opponent shuffles and you are unlucky to pick the same). Use Call of The Haunted to bring Omega back during your opponents turn, use this effect to remove it and a card from their hand, then get your monster back without it being attached to CoTH at your next Standby Phase. If Omega is in your graveyard during a topdecking situation, this combo can mean death for your opponent.

A monster effect during your opponents turn is usually good. When it returns resources to your grave from the banished zone, it's even better. Something to note, it does not state who owns the banished card being returned. If your opponent relies on cards being banished like Kozmos, return one to the graveyard to disrupt their plays.

Players usually need other cards to recycle Extra Deck monsters. Omega can recycle itself using any other card in either players graveyard. Not only will you be returning Omega to use again, but you can use this effect to take away something from your opponent.
PSY-Framelord Omega is a great Synchro to consider if you run Tuner monsters. It's strong, has great support behind it, and has some great effects.

We made it! We gave this card a 3.92/5 the last time. While Psy-Framelord Omega does many things well in a Psy-frame deck, he shines as arguably the best new Synchro Monster of 2015 in all decks. His summon is a generic Synchro Summon and his effects are basically costless. It's the opponent's hand disruption effect that really makes this card shine. Then you also have a 2800 Atk beater if/when he comes back to the field. Graveyard effects always make a good card better, and his lets him recycle himself. He has a $40 price tag on him for good reason. I even love the artwork. *gush, gush, gush* Anyway run 1 or 2 in your Extra Deck if you can do Level 8 Synchros in your deck.

Score: 4/5 Chainable Banishing Effect!!!
