We’ve now reached #3 on our Top 10 Countdown:
Kozmo Dark Destroyer!
Position on my list: N/A
I ignored Dark Destroyer altogether because I wanted
to keep archetype-specific cards down to one per
archetype, if I included them at all. I personally
feel Farmgirl is a much more important card to Kozmo
than Dark Destroyer, but you still can’t ignore just
how powerful this ship is.
3000 ATK is, thirteen years after the game’s
release, still very difficult to even match; most
monsters are lucky if they hit 2800. Tack on an
immunity to targeting and you have a huge nuisance
on your hands. To make matters worse, Dark
Destroyer, being a Kozmo ship, will replace itself
with a lower-Leveled Kozmo if destroyed, so your
only way of permanently dealing with it is through
non-targeting, non-destroying removal (or through
destruction + Abyss Dweller).
Granted, this current format has many ways to do
that, the most notable examples being Ignister
Prominence and Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. However,
something to note is that this card’s existence is
part of the reason such removal became so popular
(aside from also being the best form of removal
anyway). While the Kozmo archetype has ended up (in
my opinion) being vastly overrated, you can’t deny
the impact it (and by extension, Dark Destroyer) had
on the metagame.

#3 on Pojo's list ; #6 on mine.
My assessment of him remains exactly the same as it
was 2 months ago:
Aside from (perhaps) Farmgirl, Dark Destroyer is the best Kozmo
monster out right now. Essential. Staple
card. Every Kozmo deck needs to run 3.
Forerunner was already an amazing card, but this
takes everything to the next level. Instead of
2800 ATK, you get 3000. Instead of a passive
LP gain effect, you can immediately destroy a
monster (negging your opponent and opening the field
up for an OTK). The fact that Goodwitch/Farmgirl/Strawman/Wickedwitch
allow you to summon this card from your hand at any
time makes it even deadlier, since you can use Dark
Destroyer's destruction effect as a way to disrupt a
combo during the opponent's turn. And, it
replaces itself with a LV7 or lower monster (instead
of a LV6 or lower). This means you can summon
Dark Destroyer, then replace it with a Forerunner,
and then replace that Forerunner with a Sliprider,
and you have a practically endless army of powerful
monsters.
But don't think for a second that this makes
Forerunner in anyway obsolete (I'll still be copies
of him too). Since, as said earlier, you can
use this card to summon Forerunner (and it's always
nice to have some LP gaining in a Psychic deck as
well). If you thought 3 massive powerhouses
that are difficult to take down and easy to OTK with
were powerful enough, Dark Destroyer just takes the
deck to the next level.

Hello Pojo Fans,
From the moment it was released, it was a certainty
that Kozmo Dark Destroyer was going to make it onto
the Top 10 of 2015 list. The strongest card so far
in the “Kozmo” archetype in terms of ATK, Dark
Destroyer has an insane amount of positives going
for it.
High stats, Attribute and Type support aside,
monster removal upon any form of summoning itself is
great. Any non-Machine Kozmo has the potential to
Special Summon Dark Destroyer from the hand. If the
opponent has only 1 monster on the field, Dark
Destroyer's appearance is an almost guaranteed 3000
damage. Protection against being targeted by your
opponent eliminates things like Compulse and Book
from stopping your attacks. Finally, a 1-for-1 trade
option combined involving your deck upon destruction
and being sent to the graveyard finishes off this
monsters overpowering presence. It was bad enough
that it has tremendous stats and support behind it,
got worse that it protects itself from targeting
effects, but then like all Machine-Type “Kozmo”
monsters it has the power to replace itself with a
different “Kozmo” once it hits the grave upon
destruction.
Dark Destroyer is a boss monster if there ever was
one for a deck. Even once Kozmo Dark Eclipser is
released into the TCG, Dark Destroyer will continue
to be a driving force in the Kozmo deck.

We're getting close to the end. Kozmo Dark
Destroyer received a very high score of 4.5/5 when
we reviewed it oh so recently. The reason it scored
so high was because the card and its deck were very
powerful. Only the deck has decreased in power. The
card is still one of the best best monsters for an
archetype. Dark Destroyer has high Atk, self
protection, ease of summoning, a Graveyard
replenishment effect, and no cost destruction.
Similar to yesterday, I might have combined Farmgirl
and Dark Destroyer into one day to place Kozmo
higher on the list, but 6th and 3rd are plenty
high.
Score: 4.5/5
Art: 5/5 I sold mine for $100. I'm glad I did before
the price dropped.

Kozmo Dark Destroyer
I'll do my best not to repeat myself from before.
Basically, this is the “I Win” card of the Kozmo
theme. It's a powerhouse of 3000-ATK points, it
insta-kills a monster upon being summoned, AND, it
cannot be targeted by an opponent's card effects.
And it isn't without backup; should it be destroyed
and sent to the Graveyard, you can special summon a
lower-level Kozmo monster, straight from the deck.
Not the hand, the DECK. You do realize how tricky it
is to pull that one game-winning card from a deck of
forty-plus, right? And while it can't grab a copy of
itself (level 8), its smaller companions pack a
punch too, so if you ever happen to pull one of
these bad boys from a set, you should consider
making your own Kozmo deck- for fun, at the very
least.
Score: 5/5 (Kozmo only)
