Gungnir isn't the best Nekroz, but it's one of
the many toolbox options they have at their
disposable and all Nekroz players should run it.
Nekroz decks only need to use 1 copy of the card
though, since he's easy to search (Brionac, Manju,
Senju, Preparation, etc.) and he can always be
recycled via Nekroz of Unicore.
On the field it's a 2500 ATK beater which can
discard 1 card to destroy 1 card - not bad.
Keep in mind it says "either player's turn" so you
can chain its effect to disrupt things. It's
not as essential to summon as better on-field cards
like Trishula and Valkyrus, but it's an option.
The main use of this card is the in-hand effect to
protect your monsters from battle as well as from
cards like Raigeki and Dark Hole, though people are
starting to use cards like Book of Eclipse which
Gungnir can't negate.
All in all, if you plan to build Nekroz out in a
week or two from now, get this card.

Closing the week we look at Nekroz of Gungnir.
This is actually a very good Ritual Monster, but
also, very easy to stop. Nekroz Monsters rely
very heavily on Special Summoning, so if you can
stop that against this player, you should have quite
the easy time defeating them. They like to
come fast from your Hand and/or Deck as well, but
again, you nullify the Special Summon aspect, the
player is all but done. Spellcaster is good,
Water is interesting, but it fits the Archtype, and
lets you possibly splash in powerful Ice Barrier
cards perhaps? 2500 is low for Level 7 in terms of
attack, as is the 1700 defense, BUT being able to be
Special Summoned with any Nekroz Ritual Magic card
is good. Not being able to use Level 7
Monsters is not, meaning you're at least -2 for
bringing this guy out. Right now we have
Mirror, Kaleidoscope, and Cycle, all with various
the same effects of tributing/removing Monsters from
the Field/Hand and gaining a card back option as
well from various places. There are other
Nekroz cards coming yet, another Ritual named Nekroz
of Sophia (Level 12, 3600 attack, and CED's the
Field, but removes all instead of destroys, and no
Damage). As for this card, you can discard
this card to Target a Nekroz Monster you control,
which cannot be destoryed by Battle or card effects
this turn. Or discard a Nekroz card to target
and destroy 1 card on the Field. Both effects
can be used during either players' turn, once per
turn. It's gonna take a little time to see
just how successful these will (or won't be) but
they're certainly incomplete right now. Nice
to see lots of fun new Ritual Monsters though
centered on an Archtype.
